  1. I'm envious of you for having been an employee of Mack during what I consider to be it's heyday. I'm sure the passion you have for Mack was typical of most of it's employees of the time. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experiences.
  2. That's actually a Freightliner factory installed stereo, designed by the "I dunno, lets put it here" dept.
  3. Nice saves. All I seem to remember of Bohack's fleet are Whites and trailers like the one in your pic. My first job was at the former Bohack's at the corner of Wm Floyd Pkwy and Montauk Hwy. Bohack had just shut down and A&P was starting a discount store similar to today's Aldi's. It was called PLUS (Priced Low yoU Save ). I worked there for about a year and I think the chain was shut down a few years later.
  4. I like how the newer bumper looks on it.
  5. That looks like a cross between a White 5000 and a GMC Crackerbox. We shoulda seen it coming.
  6. No mention of Volvo in the article. Another marketing idea?
  7. Pitt Ohio shared that building with Vitran until Central Transport closed it, immediately after the buyout. All of Pitt's doors are open and the rest of the building is currently vacant.
  8. Welcome. Nice classic fleet you have.
  9. That looks like the same steering wheel that's in my '07 Taurus.
  10. 2.66 rears and an overdrive. I know manufacturers have been gearing trucks this way for a few years now, but I'm still amazed that it's functional. Before long trucks will be running down the road on fast idle.
  11. He appears to be sweating. Rough day at the craps table?
  12. It's hard to tell but the bulldog appears to not be sitting but standing proudly as he has been for more than 100 years. Yes, and the bulldog is still alive, regardless of whether he's sitting or standing.
  13. Welcome!

Glad to see that goofy cabover didn't win. He was gaining some ground until he got loose. I wonder how much of a weight advantage that truck had over the hoods.
  16. Nice work on the trucks and a great video. Uncle Don would be proud.
  17. Over 100 pinnacles per year have been purchased over the past 3 years and most of the trucks being retired are the Sterling's because parts are becoming difficult to find and more costly. Freightliner is currently the brand of choice for the straight trucks but they are on course to once again becoming an all Mack tractor fleet.
  18. Shuster's R models had power steering units that I believe were the same as those used in '72 Cadillac's. Absolutely effortless steering and the smaller wheel helped prevent over steer.
  19. Dammit. If I had to be in an accident like that, I guess an extended hood Pete would be my vehicle of choice. My guess would be that companies are teaching map reading to new students and telling them to buy a motor carrier atlas and/or a GPS with truck routing software. My other guess is that drivers are running to WalMart and grabbing the cheapest GPS unit they can find and them blaming it for their own stupidity.
  20. More great history. Thanks for sharing. Does anyone know the address or any details of the Brooklyn plan? I would hope that a company with the legacy and brand awareness of Mack would be recognized with, at the very least, a historical marker.
  21. Yes, it's the one with the Yosemite Sam floor mats. When I took the photo I was able to pick mine out of the lineup but now I can't remember how or if I was driving a Sterling or the Volvo.
  22. Thanks. I was thinking Astro or Cross but there were so many like that back then. Any history on the reefer in the pic?
  23. Happy Birthday!8
  24. Is that a 700 in the bottom pic? Looks like a west coast grille on an east coast truck.
