  1. Nowadays, 40 hours isn't even considered full-time. I hope to only work 40 hours when I'm getting close to retiring and want to cut back my runs. Of course he will still brag about how many jobs HE created while overlooking the number of businesses that folded as a result of HIS policies.
  2. I'm thinking $65K for some reason. All I remember was that it had a single axle, 9 or 10 speed, and was originally Cressona, PA.
  3. It had something like 18 miles on it when posted for sale. It was bought as a two-fer deal or something and the buyer only needed the other vehicle/equipment so this one just sat in the shop.
  4. As the driver of a legal MP7, the thought of stripped down, straight-stacked, emissions-free version is getting me all hot and bothered. Best of Luck in your search for sponsors!
  5. They can be quite ambitious when someone else is doing the un-blocking. if I dropped a trailer at a terminal with coils not secured there would be "27 8×10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence" (Arlo Guthrie, 1967) followed by a "we'll have to talk" call from safety.
  6. Holy Hamburgers! (other dog, 2011) Those coils were not blocked?! We haul them from time to time and the truck doesn't leave the shippers dock until the load is secured. Any time I've picked those up the shipper had plenty of dunnage and supplied either hammer and nails or a nail gun. Some will even block the load themselves. Did they at least put those little non-skid pads under the cleats? Making it all the way to VA truly says something about your driving skills. We had a few of those shift on a driver a few years back-on the Ohio Turnpike of all places! In other business: 1. Being a guvmint agency, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the DEA would have that user name on their WiFi. 2. Cool pic from NL. PZ 1 is correct, it's an IH Rxxx. The Crackerbox however, has a setback steer axle which I don't believe were all that common.
  7. Excellent. Too bad you didn't have a flatbed to load it on. 65 mph @about 1950 rpms-what rear ratio is that? The 4.00's I drove would've been right at 2100.
  8. Love that view over the hood. These days, I have to lean over the steering wheel to see the dog. Lemme guess: your wife forgot her umbrella and you insisted on bringing it to her despite the absence of clouds in the sky.
  9. I see. I was under the impression that the feds had full control of the CDL's and that federal law would take precedence over state law.
  10. Given the current size of your collection, I'd say that particular B is an important part of Mack history. Not to be a downer, but is this the one you lost in a fire?
  11. I've never understood why they use a boundary limit rather than a distance limit. That law is cool for the driver that lives in Texas but certainly not the one in Rhode Island.
  12. Welcome! I don't know nuthin' but if you post pictures of your truck I promise to look at them.
  13. The speed limiter is the only item above I have a problem with, and your scenario is exactly why. I drive a truck that is governed at 65 mph, often times on highways with 70 mph speed limits. Try as I might to avoid being in that situation, it still happens and is not only frustrating for all who are affected, but also a safety issue as far as I'm concerned. No large truck needs to run triple digits on a public highway, but if safety is truly the concern then they should also not be limited to a speed that is lower than maximum the speed limit on American roads which to my knowledge is 75 MPH, with few exceptions. When enacted, I would also like to see companies prohibited from governing their trucks at a speed that is less than the posted limit on the roads they travel. THAT would make the roads safer for everyone.
  14. I agree. Sure there are some 18-21 year olds that could handle the responsibility, but they are the minority. I'm curious as to how it would suddenly be safe to allow kids in that age group to get a cdl.
  15. Beautiful! Same here. I haven't seen them in a while.
  16. Dayumm! I think you summed it up well when you said F**K! Don't beat yourself up too much, a lesser driver would've hit something under those circumstances. You got away with no property damage, gained some experience, and have a story to tell complete with pictures. Sounds like a win!
  17. How profound! This conclusion has been reached in dozens of times over the years and yet driver wage increases have not kept up with the cost of living. Carriers are seeing healthy profits then taking out full page ads in the truck stop rags bragging how they increased pay by .01 per mile. I look for this article to copied/pasted with a 2016 date for when it's printed next January.
  18. Nice! I like the dashboard layout, also. It offers easier access to the sleeper.
  19. That must be the warm and fuzzy version of the FMCSA That I'm familiar with. Since when does inconclusive data determine that a pilot program is a success? Someone appears to be in bed with Obama. If this is okay then maybe someone from the TSA can get under the covers and convince him that an American driver shouldn't be subjected to fingerprints and a background check every 4 years so they can legally haul 1001# of flammable friggin' paint!
  20. I see the Vulvaflex frame worked as it should. if that had been a Mack the whole damn truck would've hit the ground.
  21. That feature should be standard on all air seats. I don't like to sit close to the floor but in an R model the proper amount of air for my weight had me positioned higher than I wanted. It would've been nice to have height and weight adjustments that worked independently.
  22. Autocars were all over NYC years ago. The heating oil, cement, and trash companies were heavy users.
  23. Nice work, Tom! While our hills pale in comparison to what's down in your neck of the woods, it just takes a tad of the slippery stuff to separate the men from the boys. You seem to take it in stride. Meadowcroft was in the news this week. A rockshelter was discovered in Florida and there is evidence that it might pre-date Meadowcroft by 3000 years. Insana handles a lot of Pitt Ohio's local calls for a hook, but I've never seen the that particular truck or assistant. I guess the ugly ones come out at night.
