  1. The lettering looks great. It improved the overall appearance of the truck almost as much as the new paint did.
  2. Wonderful. That's the new "American way" it seems
  3. You have the right truck for the job and that's a good place to start!
  4. I'm glad the driver got out okay, but hasn't history taught us anything about returning a misplaced pair of eyeglasses to it's owner?
  5. I lived that life for about 7 years in the late 80's-early 90's. Some situations made sense while others were well beyond absurd.
  6. I though they were brother & sister, possibly twins.
  7. Once you become accustomed to the Mack you'll be spoiled for anything else. Your enthusiasm is refreshing as many new drivers today are only interested in trucks that ride like cars and practically drive themselves. Sadly, the number of "intimidating, almost crapped my pants" type trucks is dwindling on a daily basis. I think Castle is still in business. In the mid-70's, I spent almost every break from school with my Dad when he drove for a banana distributor in Hunts Point. Castle, Whaleco, Whitestone, there was a bunch of oil companies back then. Gerosa was still in business, too. Lotsa cool trucks were based in the south Bronx.
  8. Good eye. Maybe a 700 since the hoods are lined up but none of the windshield is visible on the one in the back.
  9. Thanks for jogging my memory. Is the last name Mo'money or Lotsabucks? The name was on the door of the truck.
  10. Why did they always call that dude "Miss Jane"?
  11. Pit? We don't need no stinkin' pit!
  12. Maybe even a Winfall Mammary...Mammoth or 2!
  13. Ahhh, Petticoat Junction. Something for everyone in that cast. To this day I can't pic a favorite between Betty Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Billie Jo.
  14. interesting setup and yet you don't see anything like it these days. Maybe it's easier logistically to deadhead the empty equipment to the next load for the outbound customer. I know when Schneider was big into glass hauling some of their trailers were flatbeds with racks that could be disassembled as needed and stored in a similar fashion as needed.
  15. Maybe he was scared from all the lumberjackin' and feller bunchin' across the road? You might see more possum, as well as some chipmunks, deer, dingos, maybe even polar bears wandering over to your place looking for a new home.
  16. I never would have thunk it. I probably wouldn't have stopped either. Running at night I just assume that everyone else up at that time is an axe murderer.
  17. Donna Douglas, Ellie May from The Beverly Hillbillies, has passed away at the age of 81. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2015/01/03/beverly-hillbillies-star-donna-douglas-dead-at-81-reports-say/ Her road to stardom was an interesting one. Her car had broken down on a rural road on the outskirts of Winfall, VA. and a friendly trucker stopped by and gave her a ride to the nearest gas station. They stayed in contact over the years and like many truckers, the Good Samaritan eventually moved to Hollywood and became a casting director. The rest, as they say, is history. There are many drivers nowadays that would not have stopped.
  18. Not me but perhaps someone we know?
  19. I know this had nothing to do with me, I was just trying to figure out who stole my phone.
  20. I doubt anyone would care if it were only 10% original. It's a great thing you're doing.
  21. You missed it because it was out on a job.

    nuts

Same here. If that video was any further to the left you'd need a telescope to view it. The sad truth is there are probably tens of thousands of brainless &%$#*&! twits that are buying into this nonsense.
  23. That's a change of pace from the days when they were falling over everywhere! Sorry, It's been a while since the last kickstand joke.
  24. Since the original post referred to cabs, I'd say that counts, but I think the U came out in '65. That's still 39 years until the last RD in '04. This is a bit of a stretch but the F model came out in '62 and shared many parts with the DM, R, U, etc.
  25. Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, and Safe New Year to all!
