  1. Welcome to BMT.. Yes we have several Canadian members as well as Ireland, Australia, Russia, and other parts of the world!!! Please post some pictures and complete model number and ask any question you want. There is NO such thing as a dumb question!! There is a lot of expertise on this site..
  2. That would be a simple on/off switch with a wire from it to the push button. NAPA might(???) still carry something?? Try calling Watts Mack, the sponsor of this website, Barry would know how to get one if he does not have one in stock.. For your described usage a simple toggle switch would work!!
  3. The only other air over cable parking brake I have seen is on the Early 60's Diamond T that a friend of Jeff Lakaszcyck from Connecticut built and was at the 2012 Springfield Mass show, and also at Macungie in 2013. What is the original Transmission set up??, that they needed another 3 speed auxiliary???
  4. Does it still have the cable operated spring lock brakes??????
  5. May have been for a pole out front, BUT I bet it could be attached to a barn wall??
  6. There is one for sale in the latest issue of ATHS Wheels of Time:: Lighted dealer pole sign $2500, Colleen, 402-650-8529 (NE) cmckay21@hotmail.com
  7. I meant to ask you Saturday, that trailer brake handle / valve set up is different than any I have ever seen.. Does it have any connection to its life in Alaska???
  8. Bob, Were you folks on one of the Cruises???? They have to stay out in the ocean more than the ferry. Also their port time is NOT always long enough to see the museums.. I recommend a boat or fly one way and rent a small motor home the other way. We did the motel bit and sometimes they are 100 miles apart!! All of Alaska's major highway have multiple pull offs to spend the night in an RV.
  9. See if you can find the serial number.. A plate on the right door and also somewhere on the frame, usually near the steering axle spring hangers. Search some of the other topics for a better description of the location. Then send it to the Mack Museum, with a donation, and they will send you all the info when it was built.
  10. Dean, I will make an author out of you yet!!! A new career?? Please start a new topic about the LTH. Like Australia, the Alaskan trip in 2013 was another lifetime adventure. When we decided to go to the ATHS show in Yakima Wash it was a no brainer to continue on up. We took the inland channel ferry from Bellingham Wash to Haines AK then drove the Alcan to Tok AK then southwest to Anchorage and back north to Fairbanks then the Alcan back down to Tok then East on the only road (120 miles of dirt) to Dawson YK then south to Whitehorse and the Alcan on south and back into the states in Montana. There are many museums to visit along the way. 15K miles in 6 weeks.. I am now 80 and I highly recommend the those of you in retirement to do your traveling while you are in your early 70's as now I cannot ride or walk that well.
  11. I did not watch most of the Ice Road shows as there was too much "sensationalism/drama" to make it realistic. When we were in Alaska I only went about 50 miles north of Fairbanks and saw a little of the pipeline. I was not crazy enough to tackle that much dirt road!!! The 120 miles of dirt road between Tok AK and Dawson YK was enough.. The old Just Old Trucks website had a poster who had run Prudehoe Bay in the winter and some of the storys he told were awesome.
  12. Tom Thank you for the Colfax pictures.. I went to Cherokee instead.. My camera broke!! It will not go clickity click any more??????? Do you have any over all shots I can use in my newsletter??
  13. Dean, It was great to visit with you again, and the explanation / history of the name 10-Tucky.. It was the first time I had looked over the LTH with the hood open. By the space in front of the fan I am surprised it only had an 8V71 not a 12V71, especially with the loads it hauled to Prudehoe Bay..
  14. The first BIG question is:: Are you going to keep this as a hobby truck or work it hard in whatever your business is????? Those look like tubeless rims so if you are going to keep it for hobby or light work check around your local tire shops for some 30% to 50% take offs you can get cheaper than going new.. I see the hoist works!! That is one less headache to be dealt with.. I like the low sided dump box, possibly an angled sideboard??? The brake work is fairly simple with most parts and wheel seals available.. Be sure to take pictures of what you have, with a wheel off and post them here.. BMT has plenty of experienced members who can help you.. The are NO dumb questions!! Feel free to ask away!!
  15. For odd ball springs and fasteners try McMaster-Carr... Tom Millard of Scranton found a lot of Brockway compatible stuff there..
  16. It is not that hard to teach people to double clutch!!! Especially since you are NOT in a hurry to get somewhere like a fire.. Go play in a big parking lot like Wally World..
  17. I looked over that unit also on our Alaskan trip in 2013..
  18. I understand the 385 and 425 tire widths on the steering to support the weight, but those a the first I have seen with a drive tire tread design..
  19. Wow!!! I like the 385's on the steer, but that tread pattern will make people think it is a 6X6!!
  20. Tom, Like you I am a beer drinker.. Yuengling... When I was young I tapped the Southern Comfort bottle right regular!!!!
  21. A couple of things on pictures:: After I joined for either $75 or $90 I have not had any problems.. Another way is to use the free Postimage.com or establish a free Flicker account.. either way I have had NO Problems from my desk top computer, BUT you will have to check with others about from your phone??
  22. Congratulations!!! And welcome to BMT .. As asked before what part of Calif???? Get it cleaned up and post more pictures and we can help better..BMT has some connections out there, thinking Norm Taunton in Galt CA?? Depending on what you want to use it for that 864 would be all right for a hobby truck, BUT if you plan to work it some you might think about upgrading it???
