This paragraph says it all IMO.

Now it appears the union, encouraged by defeated Mack worker and unsuccessful UAW International presidential candidate Will Lehman and a Socialist rank-and-file committee, has intertwined the Mack strike with brinkmanship in Detroit. There are 34,000 of 146,000 UAW members striking selected GM, Ford and Stellantis plants while other plants are operating.

When union leadership has their own "cause", usually associated with their need for power, the members get screwed.

I know the workers at The Ford Engine Plant aka Penske don't get paid as much as they did back in the day when my Grandpa work there. 😒 As far as the other junk goes The UAW supports and has Supported too many lazy good for nothing people just because they paid their union dues. Other Dog I agree with you I also Want nothing to do with Unions.

I used to pick up worn parts at Delco Remy in Indiana back in late 80s.  Drive in, there would be 20 guys drinking coffee and reading the paper.  They would chose the one guy to load me, the rest would watch.

My sister was HR over the Ford Romeo Engine plant.  The horror stories of having to pay workers to sit in cafeteria all day because they couldn't fire them for any of the crap they would do wrong every day.  Cheaper then fighting the union or fixing the stuff they did wrong.  And people wonder why cars are so freaking expensive?? All those costs just add to the bottom line.

Yup as long as they paid their 48.00 Union dues You couldn't touch them. My Grandpa hated that about the Union when he worked at Fords Lima Engine Plant.

Not too much of a comment here but yes, I have noticed that for a lot of years even back when I was in lots of folks, choose to do as little as possible, and take full advantage of the fact I can do absolutely nothing, and cannot be fired probably even worse these days my philosophy if you don’t want to work, there’s the door it’s a simple as that

We have an entire line board full of them over here. These kids will get away with anything they could possibly pull off. If they don’t think they’re gonna get in trouble for not dealing their job pass it off to the next guy basically work, ethics in general have gone out the door. My company has got some of the laziest people I’ve ever seen as a result as usual somebody else has to cover what they did not do.

When I first started trucking, I would occasionally be sent to deliver at GM's OKC facility. They'd have 20-30 trucks scheduled for 7:00 pm. Show up at 7:01 and you were reported to your company for being "late", yet they wouldn't touch a single truck (unless, of course, it had a part they needed...and then you'd better hope it's in the nose because as soon as they find it, they stop unloading you) until shift change. Around 2 or 3:00, they'd get started...and by 7:00 am everyone was unloaded & ready to roll out. One time, I pulled out my guitar, sat on the curb, opened the case, tossed some change in it, and started strumming. Security came by in their little golf cart & sat there listening for a minute or two I looked at 'em and said "Well I ain't making money any other way sitting here waiting on y'all to get to work..."

That was interestinly enough the last time the company sent me there with a load.😂
