Popular Post mrsmackpaul Posted July 1, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted July 1, 2023 I hope so, been a hell of a week I can tell yah Bloody winter, getting down to freezing and frost, I know you blokes that are used to the cold probably are laughing your heads off at me but be buggered Everything hurts finger wise, had to resort to wearing gloves in the morning Got my long johns on a my blue singlet because its winter Beenie on the head I'm definitely not used to this after a couple of mild winters Reminds me of 2001 - 2003, bloody drought that went for about 10 years, no rain at all in winter Clear sky's all day and -3c or -5c everynight Bloody rat plague eating everything in the dairy and the machinery Come spring and the winds and the Mallee dust storms blew in with what seemed like every day or two City folk busy telling all and sundry how farmers are to blame for everything Bugger me they were tough years Anyway I digress, I'm upright and mobile so not a lot to sook about The Princess has heart issues so off to hospital Monday and inject some die and maybe stents I tell yah, we really are lucky, wasnt that long ago none of this could happen and she would be pushing up daisies in the not to distant future So yeah, Im happy, happy to be alive and happy to live in Australia and happy to live in country Australia 100s of miles from any big city Have a great weekend everyone Oh yeah Timothy Maikshilo that used to be on here all the time has just had a baby girl How good is that Well done to Tim and family Paul 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Storms were building up and coming up from the south west. Had a couple of tornadoes with in 15 miles of the the marina so went back home. Spent the day in the pool. The dogs we’re happy we were home . Pool deck and pool house/bar was a bigger project than I had expected. Invited my building contractor buddy over for a pool party tomorrow but little does he know how much work he’s in for . We had a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks and I haven't cut the grass since the last time. We still have stuff to move too so I'll be loaded both ways. Thought my Saturday Canada Day tractor parade was going to be a wash. But then Saturday came and it was beautiful all day! The 67 Ford was wonderful to drive. Just starting to get green beans from our garden, only have got one tomato so far but many more are on their way. Peppers are coming on strong but the soil around here's make's them so terribly hot that you cannot do much with them. I'll make some hot sauce like always, but I still have hot sauce from last year. I have a bottle I haven't even mailed to Bob yet, and have a box of hot sauce we were going to take to Macungie but forgot. I'm not used to having the garden grow as good as it did here this year. I was happy to get a tomato the size of a tennis ball in Gladys, and I put fertilizer in the rows when I planted, sprayed Miracle Gro on everything, but it didn't make any difference. This year I worked for a couple of days tilling and raking this spot over and over, and then just planting. Never put any fertilizer on anything but the peppers are huge and those tomatoes are almost softball size, and the vines are loaded. I'll pick it this afternoon. Speaking of green, I picked the green beans yesterday, but I cooked them already. We had them and some squash with the ribs I smoked. I like fried squash and onions, add some potatoes in with it and it's even better. That's about the only way I've ever had squash, but Zina makes a squash casserole that is absolutely delicious. It's got onions in it too, and I think she mentioned Bisquick, but I couldn't tell you what else.
