It certainly is an impressive machine. I did a year of college with one of the heirs to that tractor and he brought in a really neat video on that tractor and they pulled at the time the biggest case tractor in front of it and its roof was only about as high as the top of the hood. The same family that owns that big bud built a custom tractor for the tractor pulls and it had 2 allis chalmers v12 or v16 (same engine they said that was in p51 mustangs) mated together with a special gear box supercharged and running on alcohol. I'll see if I can find pics. I think that tractor was named The Randy Canadian but I'm real sure.

Another big tractor for removing snow. Big day for tractor spotting.

An old versatile and a newer ford.

Saw some more tractors today. This Steiger is used for removing snow at remote leases and pulling stuck trucks. It is powered by a 3406 cat.

So why wouldn't they just make them all lower rpm higher hp assuming the high rpm doesn't/can't make 400hp @1700?

I'm guessing you meant caboose? I've seen a few in the area that have been turned into guest houses, cabins and one is used as a rental near other little rental cabins.

Saw a nice little IH dump truck for sale ....sorry I will try and add the rest of the pics later. This new web page is reeally finicky and either has "trouble uploading photo" or tells me a single pic is now over 5mb. This is not very user friendly if you can only load certain pics 1 at a time and only 1 pic per post or reply.

Well I agree with the faa crackdown on drones. Listening to the news over the past year or so they've had multiple close calls at thousands of feet in the sky with real aircraft and one was used to drop either drugs or weapons in a prison yard. I think they're a helluva lot different than a rc plane that the hobbyists need to keep a visual on to fly and I would hope they can write the laws and regs accordingly.

That's right. People have gotten soft and forget that war is a horrible, nasty and necessary thing to ensure our way of life, I.e.freedom. In my opinion (no disrespect to any vets) from Vietnam on we have fought politically correct wars and have lost many lives because of it and in my opinion we never have really won a decisive war since Vietnam. I guess if you want to call sadam's test to see what we had in the gulf war yeah we kicked butt other than that everything we do militarily is long and drawn out instead of hitting our enemy with everything we've got and come home and fiercely protect our country and its borders until we need to go line out another country. This bs rules of engagement we have now is disgusting, personal friend of mine said at one point you could not shoot the enemy until they shot at you. How ridiculous is that?!

Rusting doesn't seem to be too big of an issue up here. I'm guessing it's because overall very little salt is used on the highways.

Mostly no till here as well, there's an outfit out of great falls that retrofits later model Allison automatics with pto that can be used while in motion and different newer hydraulic pumps onto older versatiles and buds and other old tractors. We even see an occasional Wagner still being used here as well.

We still have a lot of versatiles and a fair amount of steigers running around here. Until recently a lot of the professors in the diesel tech and welding and fabrication program at Northern Montana College were guys from Big Bud after it folded.

Pretty innovative access to the power train.

This was some Hutterites handy work near me in the spring of 2011. Hit a soft spot, unhooked the plow and got really, really stuck. Took and excavator, a couple of tractors and a lot of rope and chain to remove it.
