  1. 6368 Yes it looks just like that one. I think it is the same one that is at the Pittston Quarry. They moved it to the property line near the turnpike.m16ty I do not think there was a glass hooh option on the RD-800.Joe D.
  2. Kscarbel. Thanks for the update. That is way before my time as I am 65 years old. Back in the 50's my dad would have some service work done by Simpson motors (Mack Dealer) on Green Ridge Street Scranton,Penna. Like most all kids I would get sales brochures every time I was there. They sold a lot of trucks out of that location.
  3. tom1361 Where are you at in Thornhurst ? I have a B-67 in my garage in Daleville on Rt.502 across from Pocono Sanitation Bucky Linder's.When it warms up you are welcome to stop over.I have my own little junkyard there about 15 old trucks.
  4. The Mack Family Homestead was located about 1 mile from my house in Mount Cobb,Penna. It was torn down about 10 years ago and is now a small housing development.I was told one of the reasons Roadway used Detroit Diesel Engines was they hauled a lot of freight for Detroit Diesel and if they wanted to continue keep buying Detroits. Not the only reason but a contributing factor.
  5. Kscarbel What year is your list from ? I am from Northeastern,Penna. and only know the current location of Mack Trucks in Scranton,Penna. on Green Ridge Street. It was owned by the Talarico Family from at least early 1950's Mickey and larkie. Then the sons took it over and is now run by Triple Cities Mack (Cook Brothers).I am just curious of when it was a factrory branch. thank you Joe D.
  6. Try Adelman's in Ohio. They have plenty of engines.
  7. PITA has their initials correct. Pain in the Ass. I do not believe any animal should be abused by any means. But if they use Elephants for erecting tents that is not abusive fro what I see. Tigers jumping thru hoops looks OK also. Why go to the Circus if no big animals to see. They got rid of the cigarette smoking ping pong Hootchie koochie Girls years ago whats left ?
  8. I do not know on a Mack but on a Series 60 Detroit they use 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar.
  9. Cab is newer than 1969. How would a 711 work with a 5 speed ? I guess around yard it would be ok. Joe D.
  10. Nice pictures. One thing they all have in common, proper wheels. Thanks Joe D.
  11. All you guys have a very short memory. It is George W's fault. After the next election who is he going to blame for all the disasters of the last 8 years.
  12. I think they are from the same owner Mike Harbison bought his Cruiseliner from. Joe D.
  13. Depending on the pin setting a tandem tractor could work.It would be nice with a 18" or 24" pin setting.I have a transport trailer with a 48" pin setting, you cannot put any overhang on front of trailer with a 72" cab to axle.
  14. For $800.00 I think truck is worth it. The one Picture of truck shows a lot of surface rust not terrible and banged up.I would like to see other pictures of cab. That price is a throwback in time to me. Joe D.
  15. Keep up the progress report and pictures. Thanks Joe D.
  16. I think if they are asking $8500.00 or best offer which seems high for truck pictured. $3,000.00 in my opinion would be a good starting point and my ending point would not be much higher. I know when I try to sell something I priced at say $1500.00 and someone offers me $500.00 I personally do not care to do business with them. I would rather let it sit than sell for less than I paid for it. I do not want to make a lot of money off something but at least break even. That being said if I am buried in a truck or parts it is my problem not anyone elses.
  17. Good thing about the frame on that truck it is a single frame. Not hard or terribly expensive to fix it correctly.I think the day of the $1500.00 running B-Model Mack days are over. If tin is decent and it runs ok. Joe D.
  18. Nice welding on the battery box. I would think some gussets on the battery box for support. After some miles of bouncing around the aluminum would either crack or bend. Like Mrsmackpaul said drilling frame flanges is a nono.Maybe mount a cross support to frame to bolt box to. Joe D.
  19. Diamond T could be the first one to make tilt cabs. Joe D.
  20. Orville made sleeper cab conversion for most if not all truck manufacturers back then. One tell tale sign is the side window in sleeper. It is said to be the same as a 1940 Ford Coupe. There was an article in Wheels of Time years back that showed how Orville widened the cab and put sections in the roof. Joe D.
  21. I used to haul coal to Panther Creek power plant that was on the same road as Tom spencer's shop. After work one day I stopped in at Tom's to look at trucks outside he had. He took me thru a tour of his shop. If I remember correctly Gary Mahan's Gulf Tanker was being restored there. Joe D.
  22. 30,000 lbs. of bananas by Harry Chapin. It is a true story about a wreck in Scranton,Penna. Truck was a 257 Brockway driver killed.Joe D.
