in a hobby truck I don't worry too much..i keep every fuel receipt

i usually use Lucas or ATF in my B at fill ups. don't really care if they dip my tanks, if its red its red,id rather have my pump well lubed

I forgot about that other point where they put us 40 year behind the time. have to pull the hub to change the rotor, now you spoiled the wheel seal, added to the other problem up north in the salt belt, shit don't come apart even after two years. they Bendix rotors have all these little wedges to hold the rotor on, oh yea a steel rotor on an aluminum hub, I don't have to tell you hoe that works out

probably the biggest pos I have seen in recent years. heavy mechanic and we service a lot of pedal trucks for an oil company. they are beyond junk. Bendix brand. mind you they are pedal trucks and see the harshest of environment runnin the back road but they are getting maybe 30,000 out of a set of pads . compare that to 80-100 thousand out of a set of regular brake shoes. and to top it off when you PM a truck, you cant see they pads like regular lining so you have to pull every wheel and pull the dust cover to inspect the pads. we have even had a few brake cans go bad and burn the pads right off in no time, pair that with a an automatic and a dumb driver and you can actually not push in the yellow knob and take off with the brake on . if one can is broke on a disk brake set up and they burned the pads right off on a single axle truck. did I not mention when you wear the pads right down with a broken can it gets the caliper hot and burns the seals and rubber out of the caliper and OUR price for a Bendix caliper is $1700. they are junk

last I knew he was spreading some hot blacktop and makin the green to buy more Macks......

always been a round headlite fan over square. not a ford fan but always favored the 73-78 over the 79. same with Chevys, always favored the 73-79 over the 80 and up square bodies

didn't some of the NYFD Macks use that blank lookin grille panel to? how about the quad headlights and flush signals on that R model? someone did some nice fiberglass work instead of cutting the square headli'tes into the original panels like I have seen, not that I like either one. look like they came from an 80's Buick or the Chevy Chase's 'Family truckster'

I try not to wear light colored t shirts in my B61 while driving either...………. when I drove it in my wedding I had to have my shirt unbuttoned til I got there.....

so just a thought I wonder how many 20'' hubs were cast back in the day like the ones on that B81???? that couldn't have been a big seller when most B80's had 22's or 24's

I dunno what the standard wheelbase was for a tandem tractor but I know I definitely don't want an ST truck frame if that was even offered with air ride. dunno exactly when Mack started offering air ride rears

off topic but Gulf oil had a bunch of B66ST's with 464 gassers..... kinda odd for an OIL company

lookin for a good frame and rears for a steel dash 66 R model. no junk or cobbed up garbage. would love to find a frame with factory air but I know they are hens teeth. lookin for a good clean tandem frame with 38 or 44 rears.like I said would prefer to find an air ride set up or a really nice frame that can be converted to air ride

I have 2 aluminum B61 hoods in my stash. one is pretty nice, I thought about buffing it and putting it on a truck

probably a B46. and a mix and match of parts. every B30 I ever saw had a 2 speed rear, never the long nose and rarely had air brakes and most had the smaller front axle with hubcaps. that truck has the 59 and up fuel tank brackets and air horn mount but looks like older style domed hubcaps on the front. also looks pretty rotten in the floor dog house area. $1500 parts truck tops. drive one of those gutless flathead wonders down the road and youll find out quick they were made to haul furniture and potato chips

had the Sheppard box out of a B61sx I put in my single axle when I first restored it, exactly steer with a finger but felt like an old worn out Ford twin I beam front axle going down the road, chased it everywhere. ended up takin it out.

lookin for a nice white 3 spoke steering wheel and two beige bulldog embossed seats for a 69 steel dash R. at least an air ride driver and a regular passenger. seems these were everywhere years ago....

yes that one. I was drooling over that B. the guy with the Autocar parked next to me last year at Macungie. nice truck but I know he didn't leave his truck the whole time to look at anyone elses truck as he was too busy tooting his own horn

iron duke was in every postal delivery truck in the country In the 80's. also in most smaller puddle. jumper Chevy Celebrities and Pontiacs and OLdsmobiles. least with the Mail Jeeps the put the engine in the right way!

if i remember right that truck was untouched on the inside... I think it was all original with all the paint rubbed off here and there. there was also a B613LT out behind the bathrooms, green that was the most original survivor I have ever seen,aluminum round tanks and an aluminum hood

weight laws were stricter or just not enforced as much. I know I have heard stories of a single axle B42T with a D8 on a lowboy before getting hauled thru Syracuse Ny… I assume a person could walk faster as a im certain B42's were designed to haul furniture or potato chips.....

actual glider I believe. there wasn't a single hole drilled in the frame behind the cab. would almost be a shame to build it now. should go into the Mack Museum so Volvo can see ''what use to be done''

lots of nice truck there.amazes me that I know I walked and walked and walked and then someone posts a pic of a truck I never seen at the show. I have a gabbing problem when I walk around..... left my wife at the truck and came back a few times and hour or two later only to tell her I was just twenty feet away...….
