  1. Tom....NICE!
  2. Did some research on the interweb....Snyder's is the "new" Gateway Plaza. Link to history of Gateway http://www.gatewaytravelplaza.com/index.php?page=our-history. On the bottom of the page it states "good food...to this day". They have a stuff-it buff-it with stale food and a Stubway. You can order off the menu but most of the items are taken from the buffet. I don't call that "good food". The only other truck stop in Breezewood is Pilot on the south side of 30 (in front of the old Greyhound Posthouse) closer to I-70. There are lots of convenient/fuel stores and fast food restaurants. Several "modern" motels and several old/closed no tell motels. I remember the HoJos on the PA turnpike. Full service "home cooked" food. The Turnike closed several of the rest stops and reconstructed the old ones into fast food. The only thing I do there is take a wizz. I can get Stubway, Booger King, etc. anywhere. The Midway stop near Bedford PA was a fancy place at one time.
  3. On my drive from OH to PA today I witnessed a first on the PA Greenstamp. Driving east just past the toll booth, traffic was backed up in all three (3) lanes. About 1/4 mile ahead I could see a "double wide" plow. But the most interesting part was a regular truck/plow was in the left berm, double wide left and center lanes, and single trucks/plows in right lane and berm. So they were effectively clearing five (5) lanes (moving snow left to right). In back of them was a State Police with his lights on. Traffic was moving about 30 mph until Exit 18 (18 miles from toll booth). Interesting but frustrating. There did not seem to be much snow, perhaps they were "practicing".
  4. I remember the name but can't recall the location. Is it where the Gateway is now?
  5. How do you know if the original dog had nuts? Could have been "tutored"!
  6. I been by Jennies many times when I visit Lancaster. Always a lot of trucks sitting in the parking lot. On Route 30 east past the Outlets. I will have to remember to stop for breakfast the next time I am in the area.
  7. Suggestion - take pics to document the changeout. TIA
  8. Just adjust the "air pressure".
  9. Top Value stamps! I forgot about those. They were "competition" for S&H Green stamps.
  10. Later???? The time is NOW!
  11. Randy, You forgot to mention the "winning" at the Friday night cookout. Mrs. FWD has incentive to attend every year.
  12. Nice! Several cabovers sitting there. Guys.....thanks for posting! Love to see the "good ole days" stuff. Wish I would have taken pics of stops I saw in the past.
  13. Did you buy one of their trucks?
  14. In another thread there is talk of a truck stop on I-81 that closed. I thought this would be a good topic of discussion and also see some pics of "back in the day". I remember three (3) trucks stops near my home in central PA. Two (2) were along Route 22. One was at the bottom of Cresson mountain just west of Duncansville and another was at the top of Cresson mountain next to Cresson Ridge Diesel (old Mack dealer). The third, Peggy's Diner, is along Route 220 between East Freedom and Claysburg. As a kid I was facinated by all the "rigs" sitting at these stops. I searched for pics but found nothing. Peggy's Diner is still open but not many trucks stop there, just locals. I don't usually go that direction but would like to stop in and see if they still have good food. Looking forward to hearing stories and seeing pics of "old truck stops".
  15. Out of likes but I like that model! Tom, A couple friends of mine are into street rods and attend the Louisville show.
  16. Mike, I hope your lips did not freeze because it is so cold.
  17. Don't worry about spell check....someone on here will correct your misspellings.
  18. I agree with Denny. What color are the trucks...blue? If it is R&J, I heard good reports about their maintenance. Their trucks always look clean.
  19. Link to an interesting car show. Enjoy! Biggest Car Show In The World .... Largest old car show in America. Only rules are all cars must have been built before 1964 and no Mustangs allowed. If you love old cars this is worth a watch. Over The Edge: Back to the Fifties
  20. As stated above, they are located under the passenger seat. According to the parts book, the blower housing needs to be removed and then the squirrel cages. The motors attach to a frame. Motor part number is 4379 RD556261 (need 2). There is a third motor located in the RH storage compartment under the sleeper. The motor PN is 4379 RD553100.
  21. Not as much as I used to....most of the wimmin don't wear hose. I get tired of "how weather changed history" and all the other BS weather stories. Just give the frickin' weather! Oh, and wear short skirts, hose, and boots.
  22. I looked in the Air and Brake System Service Manual. The only other valve in the system (other than Trailer Air Supply and Tractor Protection) is the trolley valve. Doing some additional reading..there is a Tractor Protection Manifold that contains two (2) dual check valves. I do not know where it is located nor do I see it in the parts book. I will keep looking.
