  1. You are correct. You can put a newer engine in an older truck but not the other way around. DTSLLC - you may get away with the swap but you can kiss your A$$ goodbye if you get caught.
  2. Run a Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Type IV fuel economy test Recommended Practice (RP) 1109B. Have you tried a locking fuel cap and controlled refueling?
  3. Larry, Happy Belated Birthday. If you would list your birthday in your profile, we would have known. You can put in any year (depends on how old you want to be). Anyway, we all have to have a birthday....unless you are hatched!
  4. Jay Barbe owns that truck...BMT nick is fixit4162.
  5. Sounds like a ground issue. The MH fiberglas cabs are notorious for having ground issues. Check the main cab ground.
  6. Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one! Be careful which cake you eat.
  7. Al, Good luck at The Buck. Actually I don't think the small town of Martinsburg could handle your burn out!
  8. Most fuel systems have a check valve on the supply side, I suspect it is located in the lift pump. I am sure someone on BMT is more knowledgeable than me. If I am wrong someone will hopefully correct my mess. Could also be a bad "seal" on the fuel filter. Either way it sounds like the fuel system is losing "prime" when sitting for extended time.
  9. Sounds like a check valve in the fuel supply line....letting the fuel drain back to the tank.
  10. This is what I know about fuel filters. Primary filters the "rocks and pebbles" and the secondary filter is for the "sand". The micron (pore size) of the filters are different with secondary being finer/smaller. Using a single filter may cause premature plugging.
  11. Just a reminder to this show. Looking for a good turnout. http://www.mcmp.org I will have registration forms at Watt's show.
  12. Al, You are correct and thanks. I corrected the dates in the original post.
  13. No Mack but looks good! May the truck serve you well.
  14. Marcel, Yes, T2050 5 speed OD
  15. Don S at the Mack Museum once mentioned "slippery shit" used on the ball/socket at the cab shifter interface. Not sure what it is but you might send the Museum a note and ask the lube. Ron - any suggestions? BTW, my shift is "sloppy". Tight would be better.
  16. Did you lube the shift linkage and the "joystick" under the cab? Clutch adjusted and linkage lubed?
  17. Are these the culprits?
  18. Mike, Yes, flat black because "I believe" it came from the factory that way. What are you suggesting? Ken
  19. Hey Paul! Where you been? I haven't heard from you nor seen you on BMT since prior to the Mopar Nationals at Carlisle (July 11th). Sure hope you are doing well and things are okay.
  20. Who is planning to attend? I am going to leave the farm around 7a and be at the show grounds by 8:30a. Anyone traveling west on Route 22 from I-99? Convoy? BTW, I am about 10 minutes from the 22/99 interchange. And Barry...perhaps you could "suggest" to the church group to have REAL BREAKFAST FOOD!!!! And those attending...don't forget the BMT nooner!
  21. This event is scheduled for August 1-3 (Friday thru Sunday) at Carlisle, PA. I never attended this meet and am thinking of attending on Friday (if the weather is nice and I have the MH ready for Watt's show). However I will not be driving the MH to Carlisle. 2324ABMackAltoona may be attending with his H. Anyone else planning to attend?
  22. Mack must have transitioned to electronic tach and speedo for commonality with both mechanical and electronic engines.
  23. I removed the upper and lower grille sections from the MH. I am going to repaint the CAC and support flat black. I plan to use a Scotch-Brite pad to remove the old flaking paint. I bought a rattle can of Rust-oleum BBQ Black High Heat for grills and stoves (1200 deg F). Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks!
