  1. can you remove the probe from the core and let it hang in the open and re-test. I do know however, that the control panel is kinda junky. I have replaced them many times for similar issues. I hate loading parts into the cannon, but sometimes I do it.
  2. You say the binary switch is good ? Can you duplicate the issue in the shop ? The system needs at least 50 psi to start the compressor, any chance the terminals in the wire at the binary switch are loose or rotted away ?
  3. Ok.. so now i see why you have to separate them.. A reciprocating saw will make quick work of that. I think someone posted that as well. Glad to see you working on it. I still cant work on my old truck because all of our daily drivers need attention each weekend.. The blazing hot temps here kill my motivation.. Almost forgot... I still work a full time job.. 👍
  4. Why are drilling the rim?? Just nibble at the tire bead..
  5. May want to look at the steering pump mounting as well. MarkT may have a point as well.. the fan may be blowing oil from a leak near by the filter.
  6. Hey Bud.. that pump is easy to remove. Crack the fuel lines loose, pull the filter off then you will see the bolts, 4or5, somehow i forgot . They are 10 mm.
  7. Sir that post is 10 years old. Can you describe the issue you are having, and include make, model and year of the truck. Lots of smart guys on here.

    Wiring

grounds in the cab are behind the cluster to the left. in the fuse panel lower left or right screwed to the cab frame. there is a black ground breaker on the firewall under the wind shield, and on the block in front of the starter, and there is a wire from that bolt to the frame behind the left steer tire. , and of course the battery box. The bulletin had use to remove the eyelets, throw the star washers away, and scrape off any heat shrink glue that may get between the eyelets, and clean the mounting surface before putting the wires back on. the ground on the engine block does work its way loose, and it is the main ground for the engine harness. I see i posted on this thread, rather than another thread. Anyway, not gray wires... If you can find the 9-2 code svc. bulletin, it has a good procedure. Of course, Heinz can find good info as well..

No clue, i tried also but could not log in. There was a non vendor log in.. What are you try to get? What model and year? Someone here will know, if i cant help
  11. I am concerned about that diagnosis. Unless the engine was abused, like an over speed, or an extreme high temp, i doubt its cracked. I will lean towards EUP o- rings, and then ask to remove the fuel pump and pressure test it with air.. (done it many times) . I have more, but will stop here.
  12. Happy Birthday to stutz 712,... 🎂🥳
  13. As far as play goes, i seem to remember something about, marking the floor at the edge of the tire, then push the tire at 12 'Oclock and mark the floor again. Measure the distance. 22.5 tire is 1/4" or less... 24.5 tire is 1/2" or less. Maybe someone else can fix my memory.👍
  14. Good call Dave.. You are about to here from the 2 Dems on this site now... Well, there may be,,3.. 🍻
  15. Check all of the gray wires at the connections, above the pedals and below the fuse panel in the dash, and out on the firewall in the engine bay.. they are the grounds.. Volvo got this right by making the grounds one color..
  16. I was taught the same thing. Mack would only cut the journal that needed cutting. To this day i look at all the counter weights, and bearing numbers.. i dont assume. And Mack bearing kits are not always packed in the correct order. I was blessed to have a cranky old Man take me under his wing... Earl Harnden was his name. Maine Mack, 299 Warren ave. ,Portland M.E. I had to post his name.. He went home a couple years ago..
  17. fjh,, i thank you for the respect. I read this over again. No magic bullet. Was wondering if the o- rings off the turbo to the CAC have failed. They will squeal or scream when boost leaks out..
  18. Pull the right seat, un hook the throttle hiem joint, there is a ring of bolts around the pan, 1/2" or 13mm. You will pull the shifter back into a gear, and lift the pan and twist it out.. if this is new to you, it will seem cumbersome, but it will come out. The throttle pedal stays on the pan. Of you still have the heel plate for the pedal, the little screws will likely fight you. This is a good time to drill them out and get new speed nuts and screws..
  19. Was that engine built with 2 pc pistons originally? Just curious, and the year of the engine as well. Lookin good sir
  20. He will run for president in '28
  21. The 2 probes in the x-over tube are calibrated to each other, thats why they are spot welded in place..
  22. If it turns out to be the sliding clutch. You dont have to take the whole tranny apart. It can be done through the input shaft hole
  23. Yep. Gotcha fjh. Was thinkin about a broken wire .. all good, and i am posting on 2 of his threads, so i may get them mixed up too. 🤔
