  1. If the star washer is still there, toss it....
  2. Pull the cluster and checknthe grounds in side the whole. They are to the left, and are black wires. Clean the connections and trim off the glue from the heat shrinks..
  3. Keep in mind... the drive shaft is a steel tube... it will carry sounds.

  5. Since you are selling it, just do the synchro. And shift cylinder orings if you want to freshen them up. Ok.... im gonna say it... i bet the popping noise is the power divider...

  10. Is the popping in any gear when pulling hard? Any worn clutching teeth will become an issue, if not already. Will it do it in the dirt when pulling hard? Do you have an air locking power divider ?

  12. I seem to recall when i had a fleet of 10 CH's, the ones with E-Tech engines had the steel doors. But I never thought to pay that much attention. I just know that i git really good at adjusting the doors and fixing the crappy latches.

  16. Fjh ??? Do you recall having to do anything inside the rear end when converting frow auto to air locking power divider. I dont... i thought the main housing is the same, but the outer cam drum is longer and has the clutching teeth for the sliding clutch and fork , whos housing bolts on to the main P.D. housing. I think setting tooth pattern and backlash is checked and adjusted if needed. I dont remember having to change the bevel gear set.

  20. Take the side cover off and check the bevel gear condition, and be sure to look at the ratio stamped in the housing.
  21. The outer cam is different. It has clutching teeth for the sliding clutch which is in its own housing mounted on the front of the cam housing.. making it longer on the front end. I should go get my book and post pictures, but I cant right now.
