guess if it works 🤣. question is ::: would it be registered as a car or construction equipment ?LOL

based on your detailed "pipe dream" hopes , a RV toy hauler would give you sleeping quarters ,place to put the acquired stuff. etc. if you bought a big rig; can't drive it home ;LOL have to freight it back. after retirement my pipe dream hope was buying a class A RV go see the country = that's before the covid crap. wife didn't want the class A idea: settled for buying a diesel pick up expecting to buy a tow RV. short version = didn't get to the RV. sold the diesel and bought a new jeep. nor did I get to cross country see the U S A

Boost or pyro????
mechohaulic replied to Licensed to kill's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
possibly you can find one of those "other trucks"that have dozen gauges on dash and modify the panel so it is slightly angled toward driver not just add on plate under dash. get real creative with running hidden wire harness and mount gauges top side of window just move shift patten emblem. -
Boost or pyro????
mechohaulic replied to Licensed to kill's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
my personal vote would be for the pyro .boost lacks you know it in performance . engine running warmer , you don't want to find out tooo late. -
how things have changed , CDL first came out ; my boss at Mack says "there's some type of new license for trucks , you want one ; sign here. no test, physical, medical card . reading these post make your head spin;; this states says this ,but other states says this . then the law enforcement use state to state changes to screw everyone up.

not sure why you intend on buying a small truck. did you look into or think of a rental truck?? cross country and it breaks down just get on the phone let them know their truck is broke. buy one and YOUR truck is broke. why are you thinking a CDL ?? 26K is alot of weight. another possible idea as earlier stated is a rental of RV. might be few $$ more but many advantages . renting a toy hauler RV has a back section to put all the acquired junk you find . then there's the question of who is going on this venture ;;;you alone or very understanding mate. 😄

reason I posted in another forum the interest in driving a DM811sx or euclid rig in a quarry operation. no highway traffic or cdl needed . on I-84 today which at the time was a 3 lane highway; constantly watching rear view mirror see on a crowded road this idiot makes a 3 lane into a 4 lane racing up right shoulder at way over speed limit or common sense.

I brought the DMV in CT to a complete standstill and silence day I went there to renew my license . going from a TN to CT license was bad enough for me . when I stated I was giving up my CDL which I had from first yr CDL came in to existence (1969). clerk didn't know what to do, he went to a supervisor who quite loudly says" what who gives up a CDL" ,clerk points to me standing a few windows away ;; not right next to them of course across the room. silence and EVERYONE turns and looks at me. glad I at least combed my hair. not my choice ; was getting extremely difficult to pass medical which was only good for a yr at a time. one thing I have noticed at least in CT; the day of the "professional drivers "is out the window. bet coffee and doughnut most big rig drivers around here don't have a medical or CDL.

another advantage of the senior yrs (i guess) and retired. never had the brain power to run two logs(paper days), using a day cab and having the NJ run; would run 12=14 hrs straight through with the goal of getting through NY before traffic. had to show a motel layer over since I didn't want long wheel base sleeper. never stayed in a motel once except on paper. got the unit home on a friday 1=2 am ; spend Saturday redoing the book. had to take another book open staples to add more charts once. oh the fun times.

motivation for the senior group proves more difficult by the day (hr). need something at the store I say =screw it , it can wait don't want to get behind the wheel of a vehicle any more around here. ;; take your life in your hands . had to work off the two doughnuts I ate , got the zero-turn out and did the leaves. also some yard work. knees are letting me know now how big an ass I am. had intention of going to an auction close by tonight= no way couldn't stand that long or had energy to clean up first. have to wonder what the next generation is going to do if they make it to senior yrs since they don't have ambition to do anything NOW>

congrats on the Retirment. challenge now is to keep busy ; watch the food : weight and most important health check regular. yesterday spent the afternoon with Knights of Columbus (40 degrees outside) collecting food the food banks . not only rewarding but kept me busy instead of sitting and eating.

E6-285 2VH problems and solutions
mechohaulic replied to allfritz123's topic in Engine and Transmission
been there done that. one of the many moments a person finds themself pondering the question :: Why am I doing this ; who could ever come up with this design anyway. external front mounted intercooler- now there's a smart engineer. I can say did work on a tip turbine engine yrs back which wasn't tooo bad. course it was 1/25th scale replica I was building for a customer . had to order the engine from A I M : late Jim Etter . basic model had 237, challenge was making new intake hoses and mounts. at least I didn't need special wrenches. for the real unit as stated above the torch made the 7/16 twelve point. think I still have it. 3/8-7/16combo wrench heated / bent and ground down -
add to low ambition level the temperature outside. right now in CT it's 20's going up to low 40's today. don't understand why when I look out the window the leaves are still on the ground! don't they know its time to LEAVE..LOL wait for me at 30 degrees and they will still be there in the spring, so cold now the small pond in back is froze over and not one duck this am. usually there is 30-50. looks to be an inside project day , which I can't stand. the snacks are too tempting.

did front brakes on daughters 20?? Subaru Saturday am first wheel 1hr and 25 mins!!! take in to consideration a lot of that time was getting things set up =jack, tools etc, could NOT remove the rotor !!! I know they just slide off- oh no. brass hammer , beat thrash ; nothing. two puller hole on rotor =metric thread ;;; do I have metric bolts ;; of course some where . found two that fit . didn't even put torque on them rotor popped off. Why you ask??? because the loser award goes to; darn its him again LOL. second wheel start to finish 20 minutes == using the two puller hole in rotor. then she says "oh the front tire is low on air ": how do you know i ask --cause the little light is on the dash.. didn't ask for how long has it been on , and she's the more mechanical one . 33 yrs old,

I miss the driving even if it was only for a short 7-8 yrs after they closed the maintenance shop. don't think in todays world I could get back behind the wheel of a big rig. things back to "normal" for me can never happen =sadly. such a different world . A nice DM811SX working in a pit ; NO highway -nice way to spend retirement.

back in summer of "15 I was informed by the heart DR= "you really cut this one close" referring to how long I waited before addressing the chest pains I had been having. being thick-headed Polack I couldn't hide it any more. used to go out in the fleet yard and hide behind trailers. Ya I know real fu--in stupid. aorta was close to exploding. they opened me up took it out and put in new parts. think warranty's up . youngsters take care of yourself early.
