  1. got me on that one! running the brain cell rolodex; round doughnut style which slipped onto front cover -sat in saddle then top clamp compressed the rubber ???
  2. rubber insulator for front engine mount is a two piece setup , U shaped 1in +- not square or round rubber ? one piece fits in front crossmember saddle , second piece identical in shape fits in the top half of hold down bracket with two 1/2 or 5/8 ? Allen head bolts . if you have top half of mount , the insulator in it is what you are looking for X2
  3. You would have had a great time back in mid seventies being around this youngster who proved the Mack factory engineers wrong. being told NO way can a Mack MB have an engine brake installed. and the Fire Dept says then keep the truck. a little bit of chop/channel and the Jacobs engine brake roared to life. first one of it's kind. the fun days of experimenting with other people money LOL
  4. the 673 is being converted to 2 spin -ons and going into a B , veerrryyyy interisting
  5. fun part of building is that it's always a learning experience for all ;no matter how many years are put in. when it gets to be "I know it all " : then it's time to find an office job.
  6. a walk away has proven positive move numerous times. better than over taxed brain making errors.
  7. will you be there when engine installed and being fired up for first time ?? I was more nervous on a 673 complete rebuild first fire up then when my wife gave birth to our daughter. Doctors were there for problems (thankfully none) ;; I was the "doctor" on engine birth. LOL
  8. If You flip the top gasket upside down , do the holes line up with one hole not used ?
  9. know all about those Mack brake shoes ! 3/8th brass bolts . no easy way to remove old blocks. large screw drivers =even 3/8 drive ratchet with flat screw driver end P I A. smash the block and hold bolts with vise grips. then the cleaning-- grinder/ file and straight edge all before paint. the Q brake shoes factory reline made life easier.
  10. I'll have to tell Bob that tom brady has the same tattoo on his left arm that Bob has. LMAO
  11. the parts break down will not list the rubber diaphragm separate since it is part of the inlet/exhaust valve #6. thanks for the parts break down also.
  12. cleaning/organizing a shop is a major priority always. check off list on the DM might not have scored high for the day; shop cleaning over rules maintenance.
  13. It's a Mack :It's a work horse ; it qualifies.
  14. wasn't aware Woodbury had a unit like that . will have to investigate. Thanks for picture
  15. 1/2 on tapered block would be on cam side; 3/4 in middle / 3/8th +- on anchor side.
  16. driver in the seat makes a major difference also. terrain being run ; over road VS construction operation . many variables
  17. '82 = would those shoe still be solid hole anchor pins or / Q's ?? can't still be old school 3/8th bolt on's. tapered block shoes should be 3/4 in in the center if memory correct.
  18. what fun would life be with out a couple of challenges. You can do it ; put a life preserver on . might be a spare one still on the titanic.
  19. radiator shroud does not allow much room.
  20. did you acquire one of those dyna lash tools ?? what a joke, some days they were worth it other days flat screw driver /thin opened end wrench.
  21. thanks ; that also answered a question how an even number 42 was a diesel. for the most part even numbers were gas, odd were diesel. there were straight B42's ; no third digit B421 etc made . reason for asking wondered if you had a low production model ==B428 manufactured '61-'62 only 10 made. and few other models. have positive day tomorrow and don't forget to post a picture of the trophy.
  22. agree with all of the above .there are exceptions. have seen the timing marks off by one or two teeth. for the Dm in question ; making a parade / privately owned truck doesn't require rocket science technology just factor of safety. as with many projects the question can be asked :: "where were the marks BEFORE it was taken apart "? we all know the answer ++ didn't notice . to build a totally original resto = not this one. I wouldn't want to be the one to say " Bob it has to come back apart = go tell Mrs mower man .!!!
  23. looks real good definitely a show stopper. If I may ask; what is the complete model == B 421-/422/4226/424/426 or- B428 ? the B42 '53-65.
  24. WHEN I make it to NC ; before a few beers you will have to show me the bench procedure, will be interesting to learn new stuff on the old stuff, in the day all injection pumps were sent out for build/ calibrate. in house work done on the engine.
