  1. thanks for pictures. fuel tank won't give much more room for air tank to swing out and those brackets can't be reversed. with idea of leaving tank there ;;1= air lines long enough to slide tank back further ? 2- cut a notch in flange of air tank brackets just top of bend ,basically moving air tank out towards fuel tank reweld brackets . how much clearance is needed for pump mounting ? moving air tank to right side lot of work . right side appears to be wide open; make up a pump bracket with shaft slight angle seems acceptable . nice shop set up also,
  2. I was "shot down / verbally confronted "while back when in an earlier topic was told : there weren't two seal in hubs back then. just sayin
  3. tach and speedo with big clock inside it ? not talking of the tell tale tachograph ??don't remember tach part of the ole tell tales (as they were called). open door install chart .
  4. correct one defiantly important. some were just 90's other's had gear reduction/ change internally. full mechanical had it's challenges for repair. inner cable broke/ rounded out going into steel adapter, like you mentioned the tabs(tangs) worn /broke. B&R had enough speedo parts to completely make all new; inner/outer housings, large assortment of ends/adapters AND proper crimp tools , another part of mechanics which has changed. whether it be speedo. or hyd lines ; made your own. without need of computer or vin numbers.
  5. not sure if the '85 was all mechanical or went to electric. in the day of all mechanical; we had roll of inner cable with assortment of ends. inner cable broke we made new ourselves.
  6. that piece comes apart. inside will be basically a shaft extension. the 90 degree on end in many cases screws directly to transmission housing. taken apart you have 4 separate sections. 1- drive (piece with gear ) 2- short piece which threads in to transmission case ; 3 -extension having a small shaft inside it ;;4- 90 degree gear box. the cable housing from speedo which threads into 90 degree also has a cable adapter on it. the adapter goes into the 90 . there are a number of ends which can be worn/ broke causing failure . if you are spinning the drive gear and nothing is turning opposite end on the 90 ;; disassemble all parts in the picture. some ends are square others have tabs.
  7. but it's not always about the money spent on it ;; more important it's the time it gives you to be away from the other half. LMAO
  8. working on a project now for a friend who has a unit needing brakes which similar to your situation are no longer available. a basic drum is $30=40.oo .his drums are $325.oo each. shoes per set 25.oo= 40.oo ; his shoes when found are $81.oo EACH. this case project on hold. your case instead of looking for drums ; did you consider finding a complete rearend assembly /cut off ?? having matching hyd brakes. change over to air could be involved.
  9. I;ve done a number of rear PTO's ; don't remember tank relocating. ? might have .don't recall. 45-?? yrs ago. possible to post a few pictures of your unit looking from first drive to transmission? seems there are units having large main air tank which bend into center. can two tank brackets be reversed to place air tank out further or fuel tank is there? depending on hose set up on hyd pump; mounting pump favoring passenger side having slight angle to pto driveshaft? how long pto shaft or you figuring also is a factor. as stated many times ; pictures help in responses.
  10. after a good night of intoxication; I always end up in a foot race !! sit there stare at my feet to see if ones going to start moving first.one moves the race is on.LOL
  11. AND I SUPPOSE YOU THINK YOUR ALONE . at least you remember pouring last drink. bet you never did that to your mother-in-law !!! which in my case was a short . NOT pretty heavy weight. picture the wicked witch in the wizard of oz ; know think in comparison = the wicked witch was a run way model.
  12. going to the CR seals, I've always taken some gear oil slowly on the inside of the new CR and rotated the seal by hand within it's self. self satisfaction knowing seal has lube. keep in mind this seal was a new item back in "dinosaur days==my time slot" . not needing stemco seal/ ring installer was a major break through in mechanical terms. earlier topics discussed the two seal wheel set up;;grease inner/ oil outer.
  13. no offence but it's called a floor board still. to save towing cost ; get a piece of metal flat stock ; cut a hole for brake pedal ; few screws to secure then move unit. later time a mor accurate piece can be fabricated. OR contact or fearless leader :WATT's to discuss a proper floor section.
  14. a house party ??? guess BMT crew not invited ???? LMAO 🤣🤣 ! Bob have the best of times. enjoy every minute of retirement
  15. another version of retirement " OH we are so close together now !" kinda makes you wanta go back to work.. THAT'S EXPERIENCE ONCE AGAIN SPEAKING OUT !!!!!!
  16. it's called pacing yourself when in retirement. don't want to hurry and do everything at once::: then you won't have anything to do. save some for tommmorrrow
  17. think the steaks are pretty high it might ,it could be the cow that's a cut above the rest.
  18. 11 years to build !!! and I felt proud when I heard an engine start first time after I built it !!!Darn . magine the peoples feelings after building that. totally amazing the detail. Thanks for posting. defiantly will watch a few more times.
  19. when I'm told "hay now" my response is :: save your hay you might marry a jackass some day !! return reply is "I already did". guess I had it coming.
  20. OK ; I've herd enough think it's time to put this topic out to pasture.🤣
  21. OK we will let it go for NOW ; but is that Your final answer .wonder if parts qualify as Holy dick then ! who said that !!!!
  22. that's one of the reasons I always installed a shreader fitting in the main air tanks of those culprits!! build air systems up WITH SHOP AIR FIRST ;; then open doors and drive them out.
  23. the rear mount P T O on a 6 speed runs off the lower counter shaft which is basically in center bottom. driveshaft runs straight back. side mount pto's run off higher side mount; which on the 6 speed had to have main stick in a gear suitable for pto operation while aux in neutral. purpose of rear mount enabled truck to creep slowly while dump was able to feed a spreader box sufficiently. how the pump itself is set up depends on how good some one is with a welder to fabricate a suitable mount bracket.
  24. how do you know it was a Holy cow?? did you see it going to Church?? maybe that's where the Pope gets His milk !!!🤣
