  1. do you plan on installing center wheel seal or going to use just the outer stemco converting the wheel to oil only for inner/outer bearings, ??
  2. the 2129 seal with ring may cross over to the stemco "all in one" seal. rubber stemco seal which spins within it self requiring no install tools,
  3. had a good size collection of old bearings after cutting cage ; removing rollers; the inner housing from different applications fit axle housing for a safer seal ring install. for new seal install without fancy tools , the old seal cleaned up (sometimes) a trip to wire wheel removed outer paint just enough to fit hub bore behind new seal . 3/4 dia rod with flat plate welded to it acted as part of seal installer when tapping against old seal.
  4. not ignorance showing at all , best to ask questions when in doubt. questions asked also benefit those with similar issues many times.
  5. thought something was "off track" with the bucket.😀
  6. front bucket looks so small in comparison to the machine. 992 that's not even the biggest.(994 cat). not to go off topic; But the 994 not the biggest loader out there, history channel while back had the segment on machines !!! guess like any job running it would be fun for a while then become just another job. Thanks for the pictures and keep them coming.
  7. bet you have some good words trying to reinstall that one spring. used to have large pair of spring pliers . another easier method ;personal opinion only is to install top shoe with anchor pin (no need at this time for snap rings). install spring on top shoe and bottom shoe =flip bottom shoe into place. saves finger tips when attempting spring install.
  8. anchor pins solid with snap ring/retainer cup/felt wiper in retainer ''one each side of anchor pin ?? shoes are full circle holes for anchors ,not half circle with two springs ?? shoe kit one large spring at cam end shoes have replaceable wear pads = flat plate with two pins ?? ZEP makes a tub/ shower cleaner = works wonders on grease. parts cleaners today are for saving the environment not cleaning parts. in the day you had to wear rubber gloves when washing parts =
  9. aren't they 3/8th brass bolts ?? Mack rears that age should be bolt on linings??
  10. what band ?? beach boys/rolling stones ? if you are asking of the wear ring seal band answer is no; it's should be part of seal kit. for a hobby truck; I would go with the stemco seal with in itself no tools required.
  11. I know ; that was in responce to JOJO asking how you found the number 2129
  12. not always ! if they are alum shoes (shouldn't be). worse part is cleaning /going over with straight edge to make certain shoe deck is flat. not recommended using air tools to tighten, blocks are thicker then normal still crack easy (so I've heard).! LOL yep been there done that.
  13. seal number still Visbal on old seal by picture.
  14. it's a '98 glider ; any idea what yr the rears are or where they came out of ?? also being '98 to be more specific :: the top side cover plug may also be a square (3/4 ?) plug the 1 1/4 style goes back a few > shouldn't be an internal seal . leak external from top carrier through housing used to be large skinny o-ring, think that was done away with having invention of silicone goop.
  15. when you state "leaking from top to bottom;" how did you determine.?? if you are checking top by removing 1 1/4 side cover plug finding it low then refilling ; then removing lower rear (square plug) finding it over full. the rear is over full. on a new rebuild the top is filled to plug. the oil will seek it's own level. oil from ring gear moves oil bottom to top. rear check plug is full system ok. external leak OR internal noise different subject.
  16. KW/ Pete used vendor engines exclusively since they didn't have their own engines. one difference in the Mack Westerns was the more common option of engine power from other manufacture's, east coast macks were primarily Mack front bumper to back tail light (no s in light ) ; only one tail light till new regs . east coast ; construction/ local freight haulers. people (truck orientated) would stop in their tracks when the sound and sight of the bright orange/yellow/white Petes of Monfort of Colorado cruised through CT.
  17. you can be safely assured ; no one is going to "shoot" the messenger. the 615 would be a great restoration. not a cheap one but nice ride.
  18. so the inner is a stemco ; can tell by the blue color also looks to be 2129 0n the seal. enlarged still not clear. I can't remember what the outer seal rides on. spacer /axle shoulder ? seal way smaller then the outer bearing.
  19. now pay attention !!! you are three hrs LATER because if it's 8:30 PM here NOW ;;;; You don't see 8:30 PM till three hrs LATER ~. I could be a politician .
  20. since this was a flywheel/ transmission swap 'not just flywheel . I couldn't remember. Thanks.
  21. 1 1/2 old school (very old school). don't recall for sure ; think Baskins 4070'sIH =318 DD had the 9513 1 1/2 shaft. the K100's 350 DD had the 2 in shaft.
  22. take a break ; keep forgetting Your three hrs later. it's dark east coast.
  23. question for the teacher> does the 14 use a 2 in shaft same as the 15?? not a 1 1/2 ? torque HP different in today's world, is this conversion taking a E-7 flywheel =installing on an E-6 crankshaft using the clutch/ pressure plate assy from E-7.? interest due to situation many yrs back ;; not to off topic BUT! built a U-600 glider for company. technically it was a U=611ST . Mack 673 T with a RT 9513 RR. did you know a 1 1/2 pilot shaft will work in a 2 in double disc clutch for over a yr !!LOL
  24. that's all it is . seal located in center of hub or in axle cap ?? yours has caps correct =it's only a S = has 44's?? with caps ??
  25. ring is a throw away by the picture. manufactures such as National didn't have a ring. hubs had grooves worn into them. stemco back then was "the cat's ass" for seals. I don't know what a cat had to do with it ;;don't ask!!LOL
