  1. ring gear on flywheel I assume, was the ring gear ground down ? by chance did you match old with new -do a tooth count ? not sure of starter tooth count.
  2. ever so true your statements. life as a four yr old wasn't bad in 1886 for me (yea Joey I know ).LOL the major difference with the new generation VS the 50's-70's group is there was more Family fun; we didn't care about having the newest I phone or what the latest style was based on some TV /music person. simple things like sneaking in a drive in theater stuffed in back trunk! no more drive ins for one. every generation has it's positives also it's negatives. for the most part the generation I grew up even with it's down falls (Viet nam ) wasn't too bad. TV's with rabbit ears and an endless list
  3. I have a long reach grab tool. saves a lot of bending. couple times I've kicked a penny across parking lot till I was next to structure to hold on to and bend down to pick up the penny. driving has become challenging also. at intersections, can't twist enough to check oncoming traffic. screw the "golden years"
  4. agree ,with above also what FJH stated ,, back in the day the transmission guru at Mack (Al Dixon) took the tri counter shaft transmissions stood them on the nose using large blocks , each section had to be separated. pilot shaft drive gear wouldn't fit through hole. I spent my lunch hr in the machine shop asking many questions.
  5. bet you wish you still had the camaro !!!!
  6. wait till you get older. aint seen nothin yet for slower pace. took an hr for a 3030 brake can change last week, 20 min job back in the day,
  7. don't forget WE where smaller back then also. '66 back seat smaller just meant two had to sit closer. LOL
  8. I went to pay another twenty once to look inside :🤣 but she slapped my hand!
  9. statement was not implying the bell housing HAS to be remove. technically I should have printed:: IF the bell housing IS removed'; and reinstalled,
  10. back in the day of listening to the "teachers of build" .oo8 was too far out for precision, can't explain the mechanical world I was so fortunate to have grown up with: Teachers that knew by experience, Before computers/ AOL . learning from one of the best::: James Cassidy on 318's ;; to build/ start and PERFETLY set a DD 318 . tips of the stacks were blue. SO THANKFUL I AM
  11. as our Grandparents hated rock/roll ; the mechanical world also deals with changes ; not always a positive, between robots/ AOL ;pride (NOT RAINBOW STYLE ) in work is gone. the 866 I got running today could almost bring tears,a feeling most will never experience. so sad
  12. not to off topic "" but I still have a 6 + 1 spicer on a jack waiting for rebuilt !! such a changing world no one knows or wants to know how to fix things.
  13. Have to keep these "youngsters' their toes !!!! LOL
  14. over due coffee time/or??Yukon Jack.
  15. I know it's the Yukon jack speaking after a long day out in the sun working on the superliner then going 10 miles down road to service a KW for Tomorrow.. LOL
  16. to build a true machine '' truck or other wise ;; removing the bellhousing and reinstall included the dial-indicating of the bell housing to eliminate vibration.!!
  17. the R's with v8 Chryslers were R=400
  18. NO I am referring to a '66 GT 350 Shelby mustang blue with 2 ==10 in white stripes down the middle front to back. back seat room was to ???????? 😁
  19. the fun times a new generation will never get to experience; so sad
  20. '66 GT350 Shelby blue 2 -10 in white stripes 👍 double dated with girlfriends sister/ boyfriend, he owned the car . back seat cozy
  21. nope Your not. just don't get caught chasing squirrels around the yard.
  22. If memory is correct the 290 in a 9000 was like the U model macks ;; part in the cab with dog house AND sat on a slant. with the 4 corner head bolts at 325 . my back has a better memory then I do about certain moments.
  23. there should be as you said an end on the drive side which "plugs in to" the cable housing, most are 1 +- long having 1/8th in shaft with flat spot which goes in to tach drive. opposite end round barrel having internal square for cable to fit in to. no cable end =start there, with all safety concerns met. remove cable from eng drive side start eng see if the center is spinning. with end installed on cable drive side spin by hand = old days a second person watched the tach in cab. today guess a person puts their phone on steering wheel while in video mode ?? have seen many cables missing drive fitting. rare occasion the drive gear under the two bolt housing failed .
  24. throwing/giving away the major down fall of moving. my auction had a full page of items that went. that doesn't count "truck load " of stuff I gave away before auction. toys/ tools
