  1. Gerharts is one of my favorite shows because they let you walk around the yard and see everything @Brocky! I was having too much fun chatting this year and didn’t spend much time wandering the yard so no new photos of the construction fleet. They host an event the first Saturday in May that they call “Digging Days” - or something along those lines. They typically have the big Northwest shovel and one of the Bucyrus draglines running along with a Euclid rock truck and a few dozers. Great fun!
  2. I beat you home @mattb73lt, but you beat me at posting! 😎 It was great talking with today. Lots of BMT members around. Chatted with yourself, @Firemack and the Mack brothers. Saw @farmer52’s “Roll Hauler” and @yarnall’s F model. Sam from Scrappy Industries @Superliner92 was there with his Ford. I’m sure there were others that I don’t know or recognize their trucks. A beautiful day and great conversations with old and new friends. Doesn’t get much better than that!
  3. Saw a neat grease removal trick discussed on a Boston Trucker video. The guy recommended dabbing hand cleaner onto greasy parts with a paint brush. He said to let it soak for while and then hose it off with a garden hose - no pressure washer required. Claimed it worked very well with minimal splatter compared to a high-pressure system. As he is a "well seasoned" gentlemen I'd have no reason not to believe him. Might try it on my next tractor project... Enjoying your adventures in restoration @mowerman. Thank you for keeping your thread going!
  4. Great collection @Latrobe Construction B-61! Were you at the show in Brownsville? Seems as if I saw a few B models being put through their paces in a few videos.
  5. Thanks for the update @John Irwin. Do you have access to the truck to get some photos? We love photos around here… 😎
  6. A few of the photos that I captured before the downpours. My daughter is an EMT/FF so I tried to capture a few that she would appreciate too. 😎
  7. Sorry to hear in other posts that the rain washed many folks out on Saturday. I enjoyed walking around and seeing all the trucks that still made it out. I think I heard that they had over 800 trucks despite the weather. I did get a chance to see Rich (@66dc75) at the Watt’s tent to chat for a few minutes earlier in the morning and said hello and thank you to our host, Barry, from Watt’s at noon. Matt’s ( @mattb73lt) truck looked great in person and I was able to catch up with @Firemack for a few minutes too. He mentioned that he had seen @farmer52 The water was flowing 2” deep through the Watt’s tent at noon. Hoping for better weather for the photo next year. Safe travels home to those still traveling. See you all next year!
  8. It’s that time of year again! Hoping to make the trip to Macungie on Saturday. I see from post in Matt’s B-73 thread that he, and a few others are on the road - or may have arrived already. 😎 So, who all is making the trip? Is the BMT photo gathering on for noon on Saturday at the Watt’s tent?
  9. Always loved that post @Red Horse! I had heard that Ed has sold to Century. Traded a few messages with his son who shared that Ed is enjoying his retirement - though I think someone at Macungie indicated that Ed had kept some portion of the construction portion of the business. Thank you for the additional info about Century.
  10. When my Dad started working for EH Perkins in eastern Massachusetts back in the early 80's they had days when they were running 90-100 hired trailer dumps running bank run gravel into the greater Boston area from pits in the Littleton/Groton area. Those would be short hauls these days! Ed Perkins was ahead of his time when bought out the Pandolph family quarry in Sterling, MA securing a relatively close source of rock that is still in use 40+ years later.
  11. Frame looks great @hicrop10! Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress.
  12. Had a chance to chat with Rob Buckley tonight @Joseph Cummings. Showed him the photos of DT-61 which he said was purchased by his Grandfather. Rob drove the truck after graduating from high school. They don't have the truck anymore, but the Northwest shovel in the photo is still in their yard in Philly. Thank you for sharing the photos. Dave
  13. @Firemack any suggestions for @chewy0776 on his ignition issues?
  14. I was wondering when you would chime in Sam. I enjoy your videos. Disappointed that I didn’t make it out to Gerhart’s to see the ‘79 in person.
  15. @reb87 looks as if you’ve got two great canvases to start with!
  16. I caught the BMT mention too@The Heinz! I did a bit of searching but didn’t see any threads that mentioned a 79 with a KT. Perhaps Sam will see this and introduce himself… I’m a big fan of both Sam and Matt’s YouTube channels. My wife doesn’t understand why I enjoy the videos, but I tell her they are important as I live vicariously through these guys so I don’t have to drag anything home myself. 😎
  17. Sam from “Scrappy Industries” posted a great video of his 1979 Superliner with a Cummins KT over the weekend. Definitely worth watching:
  18. Thank you for posting this video link @Joseph Cummings! I’m impressed that McHugh had a 4 axle trailer and a jeep. I would have thought back in 1973 they’d have moved a 9310 with a single axle tractor and at most a 2 axle trailer. 😎
  19. Good point. At the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if the hydraulic tilt is electric…. Definitely would be a conversation starter at the campground. 😎
  20. Congratulations on your retirement Bob! Looking forward to hearing about all the trouble you get yourself into with the newly found time! 😎
  21. @Firemack do you know anyone in the market for an L85? Beautiful truck @Angelo
  22. Thank you Bob. Dad had a great run of nearly 77 years. 3 bad days at the end and a few hiccups over the decades, but overall a great life. 😎
