  1. Always loved that post @Red Horse! I had heard that Ed has sold to Century. Traded a few messages with his son who shared that Ed is enjoying his retirement - though I think someone at Macungie indicated that Ed had kept some portion of the construction portion of the business. Thank you for the additional info about Century.
  2. When my Dad started working for EH Perkins in eastern Massachusetts back in the early 80's they had days when they were running 90-100 hired trailer dumps running bank run gravel into the greater Boston area from pits in the Littleton/Groton area. Those would be short hauls these days! Ed Perkins was ahead of his time when bought out the Pandolph family quarry in Sterling, MA securing a relatively close source of rock that is still in use 40+ years later.
  3. Frame looks great @hicrop10! Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress.
  4. Had a chance to chat with Rob Buckley tonight @Joseph Cummings. Showed him the photos of DT-61 which he said was purchased by his Grandfather. Rob drove the truck after graduating from high school. They don't have the truck anymore, but the Northwest shovel in the photo is still in their yard in Philly. Thank you for sharing the photos. Dave
  5. @Firemack any suggestions for @chewy0776 on his ignition issues?
  6. I was wondering when you would chime in Sam. I enjoy your videos. Disappointed that I didn’t make it out to Gerhart’s to see the β€˜79 in person.
  7. @reb87 looks as if you’ve got two great canvases to start with!
  8. I caught the BMT mention too@The Heinz! I did a bit of searching but didn’t see any threads that mentioned a 79 with a KT. Perhaps Sam will see this and introduce himself… I’m a big fan of both Sam and Matt’s YouTube channels. My wife doesn’t understand why I enjoy the videos, but I tell her they are important as I live vicariously through these guys so I don’t have to drag anything home myself. 😎
  9. Sam from β€œScrappy Industries” posted a great video of his 1979 Superliner with a Cummins KT over the weekend. Definitely worth watching:
  10. Thank you for posting this video link @Joseph Cummings! I’m impressed that McHugh had a 4 axle trailer and a jeep. I would have thought back in 1973 they’d have moved a 9310 with a single axle tractor and at most a 2 axle trailer. 😎
  11. Good point. At the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if the hydraulic tilt is electric…. Definitely would be a conversation starter at the campground. 😎
  12. Congratulations on your retirement Bob! Looking forward to hearing about all the trouble you get yourself into with the newly found time! 😎
  13. @Firemack do you know anyone in the market for an L85? Beautiful truck @Angelo
  14. Thank you Bob. Dad had a great run of nearly 77 years. 3 bad days at the end and a few hiccups over the decades, but overall a great life. 😎
  15. Have you been in since the sale to Century?
  16. Unfortunately we lost my Dad in 2018 @Red Horse, but I’m pretty sure that he trained Heidi before he retired in 2007. 😎
  17. A friend who lives in the area brought to us to my attention the day it happened @Red Horse . Not knowing there are other quarries in the area I assumed it had happened at the former Pandolph-Perkins quarry where my Dad worked for years. Appears from the videos I’ve seen that Onyx is in the process of building a new plant at an older quarry. Hard to say why that corner had been left the way that it had. May the operator rest in peace.
  18. @Humbird when you have the truck hauled across the county you should be able to get the truck doing the hauling weighed before and after loading - depending upon what else the driver is hauling - unless of course you are trying to get it registered before you move it… Any photos of the rig? We all love photos! 😎
  19. I’m 99% sure I saw @farmer52’s β€œRoll Hauler” MH at the show. Was a little thrown off though as there was another very similar light blue MH there also. Perhaps a sister from the Martins fleet?
  20. Years later mechanics Mike Foley and Rich Liska in New Milford are still keeping the quarry’s heavy equipment fueled, greased and oiled every workday. As mechanics they appreciate the midcentury truck’s spare simplicity and ease of repair. 21. Looking forward to seeing some photos of your progress @hicrop10!
  22. Not sure what options you have out there Bob, but you may find a β€œlocal” rental place is more β€œprice friendly” than the big box store. Last time I priced something (it’s been a while) the local β€œTaylor Rental” was half the price of HD….
  23. You might be able to pick up a few sections of scaffolding on Craigslist or facebook marketplace and then sell them when your done Bob. Or you’d have them around for future projects… 😎
  24. I saw that too @tjc transport Figured maybe posting would send him a notification that I had dropped his name - or that someone might know Andy and provide an update for him. 😎 How’s bout ya @hurstscrambler, got your ears on?
