I still remember the first time i herd a truck start with air was the crazyest thing i ever heard -
I refuse to listen to the news on the tv my girlfriend is addicted i say their as worthless as a 2 dollar hooker and as trustworthy as the rooster i had to dispatch if you turned your back he would drive those spers right in your leg or ankle.

I like jay and his show about cars and motorcycles this coverage of the triumph almost makes me go get one. I really enjoy my spyder and i liked all the other bikes i had but this three cylinder job is cool. I was going to buy the six cylinder bmw when i went for my last bike but it was a little to heavy for me same as my hd dresser that i sold so i bought the rt 1200 very good bike. Now i'm an old fart and i really get alot of fun out of my spyder i have leg and feet problems so it helps me not to hold the bike up.

I look at the meat and pork in the local supermarkets and i then go over to the guy i know and pay half as much. Thirty years ago me and my friend bob plumbed his store so when i go in he will take care of me. I raise chickens and i trade eggs for stuff. I have some angora goats and my girlfriend spins the cape wool into clothing she does that instead of giving Christmas presents.

I used a otc jack like the one for sale was very stable with the triplex mounted on it plus i have a finished garage floor. Were i did work i bought a copy of the otc china made it worked good changed some 8 speed trans with it. Got it off cook brothers. I have used 5 or 6 different jacks through out the years and i like the otc style the best.

I was referring to maximum pressure that is allowed in an air bag. I am running 15 lbs in the rear bags just enough to keep the truck setting at the right height. I installed a manual valve in the cab to change the air pressure in the back bags. i used to run about 40 lbs. in the brockway's lift axle. The right diameter bag will change the air pressure needed in the front. I was just going to take out the the short leafs and run all the long leafs.

I took my buddy for a ride in my b and he said it did ride better with the air ride in the rear he say's i should put air bags in the front. He is good at getting me to do stuff i didn't know i needed. Anyone ever do this on a b 61? I figure you would have to remove a few leafs and get the right bag that will carry the weight you shouldn't run more than 100lbs in the bag i was told.

Funny story on getting a pig Me and abby went over to the next farm and Gar raised white pigs we needed one for the market truck. In the bottom of the barn was about 50 150 lbs pigs we picked one out and i told ab don't screw this up make sure you shoot it right with the 22 pistol well he shot and the pig did a flip and landed back on his feet and took off we spent some time looking for that damn pig i shot it this time.

How things change when i was little my gram and i would walk up to the neighbors and get a chicken for Sunday dinner she would kill it in the yard and we would be eating it for dinner. I have helped butcher cows hogs chickens not for the feint of heart. god only knows how many deer i cut up use to finish the cuts on the butcher block in the kitchen. For years we only eat deer meat made my own hamburg and sausage. I never buy meat at the grocery store use a guy i know for years he sells me what i want. This year i'm going to get out and fish a little harder for crappy and panfish fried up they are as good as any other fish.

I was told by a law officer according to the law it is lawful in pa. to haul your own personal property on an antique plated truck non commercial. In other words if i want to haul a load of dirt to my house it is legal just don't try to get paid for it. And if you show your truck you must not collect money's for showing said truck. As told to me by a police captain i can haul my hay bales home for my goats legally.

first drive of the season
davehummell replied to davehummell's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I was forced into retirement at 60 so i have done the best i could with the money i could afford to spend really cuts into what i can and can't afford and what i would like to do with the truck. Back in 1977 there was a b 61 single axle for sale and i wanted the truck real bad but no money at the time it was for sale so i finally found this one and i could afford it that was about 5 years ago and i do what i can every winter. -

Brocky i have broken your heart i put a late model airride rear under the b and it has polished hub pilot aluminum 22.5 rims. I have no preference on rims any kind is ok by me. And i got tired of the straight pipe I have screwed up hearing and that pipe was hard on me after an hour of driving. -
This fall a friend of mine had a metal roof installed on his house he shopped around and got a Mennonite father and sons to do the job they started before 8:00 in the morning and by 6:30 the roof was done lots of cuts had a front porch side porch an addition on the back of the house. Plus they were almost 1,000.00 cheaper then the next lowest bid. I stopped by on my can am spyder and the old man came running over to look at it asked me lots of questions about it i told him to take it for a ride but he said he couldn't do such a thing but he said he really liked it, cool old guy.

And so it begins
davehummell replied to Hobert62's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
My truck is not stock anymore and i just don't give a damn if someone thinks this or that is wrong on my truck at least it is going down the road and not rotting in a field somewhere i think Hobart's truck looks ok to me if i had a cummins laying around i probably would of put it in just because it would be different and they are good engines. -

The engine came out of a fire truck it is an etz673 2100 rpm -
This winter i put in a 260 hp. 673 with a jake and 3.90 air ride rear and double over triplex. Today i took it out to get fuel and run it around a little. Boy do i like that triplex with that engine the truck is very zippy i have to put the gps in and see how bad the speedometer is. Boy do you feel the turbo pulling on a hill i wish i had this engine in a couple of macks i use to drive. I spent a lot of time and money this winter but this truck should cruse on the highways now. I wish the cab was a little larger i took my cousin for a ride and he goes about 330 lbs. and he was a little cramped in the cab. As soon as i get the bed sandblasted and painted i'm ready for the shows.

I have a mx5100 with a loader and backhoe with hydro thumb this is the 5 kubota i have owned never any problems very well made and very good resale.
-
Old triplex and i found the problem someone didn't reinstall the coil spring all way back in the tabs that retain it in place on the shiftier base.

I started the engine and let the oil get sloshed around in the trans and when i run the main in gear it allows some oil to come out of the shift tower where the ball socket and lever is. I don't think that little rubber dirt boot will hold back the oil i didn't have the boot on yet. I did not over fill the trans and i used 80-90 gear oil i didn't think you would need the synthetic 50w oil like is called for today's trans. Any ideas?

When i was young my uncle would take me with him to work cleveland brothers and i always got a ride on a bulldozer that started it for me. My next door neighbor Ray is a good guy he was off work when i was about 12 and he would take me with him for a ride on his dirt bike. Fast forward and i am hauling his grandkids around on my quad. Those acts of kindness when i was young stuck with me . I bet that could be a photo of anyone of us when we were young.

fuel tank b 42
davehummell replied to davehummell's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I just repainted my tank and i never noticed it before and i don't like it if the back was pushed out even i think it would help to get in the cab. -
On my b model right side steel fuel tank it doesn't look right is there spacers on the rear tank bracket? Are the brackets both the same mine are?
