  1. His mind is like a sponge at that age! He does remember a lot more stuff that we’ve done too this truck then i can.
  2. Hopefully he can look back at these pictures and enjoy the memories, he’s growing up fast for sure! Almost 3 years since I started working on this project again, he’s been with me every step of the way,, this picture was spring 2020 .
  3. A little more time today, got the steering column in and after school help!
  4. Got a little time over the weekend, I got the wiring done to all markers and tail lights ( Not sure my lights are period correct,,, but I have about 4 sets from new cab and chassis,, Free ! ) I painted my heater & steering column today, hopefully I can keep moving on with turn signal switch, hand valve and my “ NEW “ steering wheel.
  5. Fortunately I was able to check out that lathe in person,,, I was impressed! I love the overhead pulley system, Just think of how environmentally friendly a complete machine shop would be running off a stream and water wheel,,, But I’m sure some endangered fish would be harmed by the water wheel!
  6. a little more wiring progress this evening.it will start with out jumping stuff with a screwdriver , now for the lights.
  7. Yes I never noticed, but looking at some Emeryville pictures online that top door bracket looks the same, must have started on the West Coast and spread back East, I have old pictures of my Dad and the Anderson & Hennis freight trucks, around 1960 , all the H63 pictures I can find have West Coast mirrors, they had some EQs and A50s still had the One arm small mirrors . 1960 & 61 .
  8. Thank you, yes I would be interested in talking to him, I can’t really tell what style they are, Thank You!
  9. Yes! I’m going to try to make that show, not sure if I’ll get a truck down, but would be a good thawing out trip anyway,, I would Love to see That V8 LT there!
  10. Thank you, I’ll let you know, I have a chrome set off the LJ ( needs re chrome) they have 3 bolt holes on the top door mount, like the bottom picture you sent, my H has a new set of stainless R model mirrors, 4 bolt holes in top . The LT has a new one on the right and the fellow I got it from said he’s got a new one for the left,,, when he finds it, I’m not giving up, he found all the NOS hood chrome after a week. Randall Howell’s B 73 has a set of stainless like the steel ones you have, There use to be a fab shop in South Carolina that made them for L doors. I’m not sure what was mostly used on a B73 , I don’t think they had “ West Coast “ mirrors until the early 60s ? I’ve seen several different styles, I remember my Dad talking about “ West Coast Mirrors “ like they were Power Steering or Air Conditioning! Probably a big deal compared to those “ Snuff Box “ Mirrors.
  11. That’s is luck ! I have a real good set for the LJ but I bought a LT that has regular mirrors, so I thought I would put a set of these on and have a spare set. NOS is always luck when you find it. The fellow I got my LTH from had bought the 6 pieces of hood trim and all emblems years ago, I was lucky to get it. I’m going to put it back on the hood as it should be, he said when they restored it in 1975 they made the hood sides out of aluminum, ( and did a great job) but didn’t have good trim or emblems, they got it but never installed it. I got the old hood sides but they are not in good shape, Maybe with the aluminum hood we can call it a LT1/2 L ! s
  12. Got a few hours over the Thanksgiving weekend to work on the LJ .Got my temp & oil psi hooked up and some of the copper air lines put back on . I bought a extra set of old Mack mirrors, I’ve got them apart for new glass and stainless screws ,,, I’m chipping away,, Slowly!
  13. You did great considering the hazardous conditions ( Good clothes & Waiting Wife) !
  14. O Yes! Very nice! That will be a sharp addition to your LT ! That’s kinda ironic I saw your post, just yesterday I went back over to the guy I bought my LT from ( about 2 hours Away) He told me when I bought it he had more parts he would “Round Up “ , When I got there he gave me All new chrome for the hood, 2 Dogs , 2 Mack Emblems and the 6 pic of stainless trim ! All NOS . Dusty boxes and all. Hopefully one day when I’m down in Florida I can swing by and check your LT out, can’t wait to see you get it going again.
  15. Glad you have a good block & crank, When You get it back together and you will never have to worry about it again! Love the M715 ! You know that Mack’s & Jeep’s are my weakness, I can’t pass one up !
  16. Yep same filter, the flap just reroutes the suction from top bonnet to the hose under the hood ,, Good engineering from back in the day!
  17. I have a 1968 R Firetruck that has a control on the dash that switch’s where the intake draws from,, like Y’all are talking about, pretty neat setup.
  18. I’m sure I have the invoice, I’ll dig it out.I do know I had a new Water Pump, from some old NOS stuff I bought but the shaft was a different length . The one I got from H&H P was correct, I’ll find the part number
  19. I just put a water pump on my C -600 a few months ago, I got it from Hi way & Heavy Parts , I think it was a couple hundred bucks, working great.
  20. We’ll keep trying, I got a couple of hours of work on the LJ today, hooking up the compression release, had to modify the pivot and mount because of the Jake brake installation, all good now,, move on to the next ,, one thing at a time.
  21. I’ve looked at about a dozen different LJ fenders and the are several styles, my right fender has the box for the air filter.
  22. I looked at them, they are in great shape, but I think they are off a fire truck with 20 inch wheels, and wouldn’t work. That’s a fair price, I would buy them in a minute if they would fit my LJ , Thanks so much for sharing the post.
