  1. I think I will,,,The next time we are at a show remind me to show you a video on my phone ( dash cam) of me hitting a Black Bear with my Western Star,, He hit hard on the bumper where it bolts to the frame, felt like he came through the radiator,,, He got up and ran!,
  2. Thank You, it was on the truck when we bought it, I was thinking about putting a original extended bumper on it, but I would have to find some original mounts , the parts truck I took the 18,000 axle from had all the mounts and bumper but they were already sold. I might polish this bull bar and put it back, the quicker I get this truck back on the road, the quicker I can work on our Freedom
  3. Nice! It’s good to see a before and after picture, great progress. ( the front bumper mounts on your frame looks identical to my LJ .)
  4. Im going to try to swap out the axle in a few days, I got this one cleaned, painted hopefully it will go smoothly, One thing for sure, I’ll find know all the hurdles of going from a 14k to 18k .
  5. Yes, he sent me the information on the magazine, He did a great job researching! I have a lot of copies from the 90s and 2000s that my Dad had, but I missed out on a few years! Good Reading.
  6. If anyone that is interested in the Magnums and Freedoms can get their hands on this May/ June 2014 Wheels of Time it has a Very Good article in it !
  7. We had a B Model dump, tandem, I might be able to get the guy to take some pictures of the rear suspension, I’ll send you some on the LJ I have, they hauled houses with it , it’s got the heaviest suspension I have ever seen on a early 50s on road truck.
  8. I know it’s off topic,,, but I passed a Chevy Dealership in Melbourne FL about 30 minutes ago,,, And I couldn’t resist! There is a Quarter Million $ ! Back on this Superliner ,, That thing is Definitely detailed. The price to get that truck to that level would be astronomical! I had a lot of paint and supplies get washed down the creek and it hurt as much as the tools did.
  9. I don’t have a B but I have a tandem 50 LJ with double frame and camel back if that would help
  10. Yes,, They have gone crazy especially the Chargers, Road Runners, and the “ Winged “ Cars . I’ve seen some big trucks getting up there,, it cost much more to restore a old Mack any more,, You would have to ask way more than it was new to get your money back.
  11. Yep and like my friend with a Superbird and some I have talked to with some really nice trucks, They have been fortunate enough to have worked hard and built a good business,, I’m glad they are able to buy some of these really nice trucks,, The Keystone museum in Virginia is a good example,, Now everyone can enjoy them.
  12. That is a Beautiful Truck!,, I know a guy that gave the same price for a 1970 Winged Plymouth Super Bird,,, Both equally beautiful.
  13. Yes!!! We would love to see an article and photos in the Wheels of Time!!
  14. Yes that would be great, I’ll get it for you after while I don’t have it with me, Also I’ll get you the Vin from my RW 753 Superliner and the parts truck I got the 18,000 steering axle from, I’m wondering the difference in the draglunk joint that connects the steering lever . Yes i see a Couple Superliner dumps working on I40 in the gorge, also my Son uses a Whte one with a green strip on I40 also ,, Thank you, I’ll get those VINs
  15. Thanks Vlad , You’re probably correct on that firewall paint, there is places pealing of the visor much darker under the light grey. I’m not sure what I’ll do about the frame right now. Hopefully by the time I get it painted I’ll find something out about the Decal .
  16. I figure that maybe why the levers are flipped , it had more springs than mine and they dropped the joint from the top to keep the drag link level, I’ve ran into the bump steer problem lifting some 4x4 pickups . Thank You for the help.
  17. Yes I can get the VIN off the parts truck, I’m sure I can make it work, it’s the same as hot roding a car back in the day, Change one high performance part and have to change 3 more to make it work . I appreciate all the help, I will probably do the same thing to my Freedom Superliner once I figure this one out, it has a 12,000 lbs axle with a little play in the king pins, But mainly because I have some hub pilot floaters to put on it, I know it will not have a original look, but I love the way they handle, Around these mountains they are great, and will last twice as long as a regular steer tire , I put them on every thing I can. Even my old Volvo and Western Star
  18. Thank you, yes that is the arm that is turned opposite of my original axle.
  19. I had thought about that also,, if the key way will lineup,, it’s going to be a few days before I can get on it, My Grandson’s Baseball season is over and I promised him we would get away for a few days,,, but I’ll keep taking ideas!
  20. Hopefully I won’t have to change anything , just turn the drag link joint over
  21. They are,,,when I get a chance I’ll try to get one out and see if they can be swapped, I should have gotten the complete pitman arm and drag link off the parts truck,, it’s 4 hours away, I can get them to measure it if needed.
  22. I think the ones off my axle are smaller, it might be ok to loosen the joint and turn it down, you are probably right and it set a little higher between the frame and the axle, the parts truck still has the dual boxes on it ,but I didn’t remove the axle, and the springs were already gone. I’m just going to use one steering box .
  23. Back to the RE 753 Axle project, I found a 18,000 out of a 89 Superliner, dual steering like my 14,000 axle. It’s got hub pilots in it ,just what I wanted, One glitch, The steering arms are upside down from mine, ( opposite taper ) . So the drag link joint will have to go down, Anyone see this, the truck it came from already had the springs removed, it was probably a big stack since it had the big axle.
