  1. Getting ready for warm weather, hopefully I can roll with the interior when it warms up. Got some material for the bridge and some volunteers pitching in with labor and concrete, then hopefully by summer start rebuilding the shop. Slow going with the weather.
  2. I’ve seen a few pictures of HO-JO stuff in the 60s but nothing from the early 50s ,, Thanks for the pic. That’s getting closer!
  3. I’m still very curious about the color of this truck, I’ve never seen a color photograph of it,, it has some of the similar schemes as mine?
  4. I took 2 more inside door panels to get lightly sand blasted to replace my original ones that got washed under the truck during the flood and bent double, I tried straightening them but I couldn’t get the ribbing straight. So anyway now moving forward with another set, also found a set of NOS headlights but haven’t picked them up yet from a friend a few hours away ( I was nervous about him shipping them, My luck they would get bent no matter how carefully he packaged them) . D-Day fixed me up with a headliner that he had, cut from a original pattern with original type material ! The guy that redid my seats checked it out and said it would work out great. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer I can make some more progress.
  5. I’m with you on a B cab being cramped. I think it was because of durability , the door seems to be tighter after years of use. Maybe that’s why the LJSWX-D with the hard nose has the 3 hinges, stiffer suspension shakes the cab more?
  6. Thanks for the reply, I’ve always wondered about the rime or reason for skipping around installing the 3rd hinge. I once thought it was an upgrade because they would break the top hinge on a 2 hinge setup and it was added in the later trucks ,, Also a H Model uses the same door and I’ve never seen a 3rd on a HModel . All B73s I’ve seen have a 3rd hinge. Maybe an option on pre 1955 or so. I met a fellow in Macungie years ago who worked on the line when the Cs we’re being built and he said they were just a bandaid bridge from a B to the R and used L cab, B fenders . They made the hood and top radiator tank, interesting conversation. Now that I’m curious about the 3rd hinge maybe someone has some factory information.
  7. That’s a good bit of information! I have a question, I have a 51 LJ , 55 LTH and a 65 C600, All L cabs of course, C has the 3rd door hinges. I noticed the 2 brochures they sent you for the LJSWX-D one shows a 3rd hinge the other only 2 . Any one have some good history on the 3rd hinge ( which in my opinion is a good idea)
  8. I’ve seen several on Facebook marketplace, I usually keep my search set on a 250 mile radius from Western NC . I have been looking for a mid 90s CH ( non setback axle ) so I have searched a lot in the area, I’ll send you the info if I see something you might be interested in.
  9. Wow I love looking at those build sheets! They have sent me the copies for all my Mack’s ! I’m glad you actually got to hold the original one for your truck.
  10. My opinion on that truck is ,, it’s a piece of history, updated for the next task, several times over!
  11. My 1951 LJ has the Vin number stamped on the right rear of the frame, above the spring hanger. Great find!
  12. Thanks Bob , it opened up, I’ll go through that it looks interesting.
  13. My Son, Grandson & Me took a road trip today,, The Black LTL has a E9 , The Red is a LTH ,,, Beautiful Trucks. Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum, Near Richmond VA .
  14. That looks like a lot of work,, I kinda like seeing stuff like that, Not many people know what a H Model is , it’s better to butcher that cab than go to the scrap yard.
  15. Thanks for the pictures of the beautiful LTs , Beautiful! I have never seen the tilt hood truck, that is impressive. I have watched videos of a few, There are several with engine changes, E9 is one of my favorites. It would probably never happen especially now that Volvo owns Mack , But if Mack built a remake ( like Ford did the Mustang and Dodge did the Challenger) The LT would be great glider kit with modern suspension, and cab accessories, stick a mid 90s E7 , 60 series, C15 ,,,,, It’s early in the morning,, I’m still dreaming.
  16. Yes , The LJ is up at my house away from the damage,, it’s good to try to keep making progress with it, I actually think I came out with less money buying the parts truck, the chrome was pretty good on the vent window frames and door handles,, I used my old vent rubber. ( plus a air starter system to play with later) I had door glass cut also, I so wish I had painted the door panels before my paint cabinet washed away,, But I’ll get some more . Assembled the right side this morning.
  17. Left side vent assembly in , it came out pretty good considering all the hurdles I went through, slowly inching forward.
  18. Juggling between hauling equipment, working on flood damage around the shop , but I did find time to get some new vent window glass and door glass cut this week, hopefully I can assemble the vent assemblies in a few days.
  19. I cleaned up the starter and made 2 end gaskets and put it back together, I’ll stick it back on and try it in a few days. The H probably could be restored, but I have one and don’t have the time, I’ll see if the engine will run, I’m not going to take it to the scrap yard,, I would make someone a good deal on it minus the door parts and “ air starter Kit “ . I have a buddy that works at a hose supply store,, I’ll get him to check on the big supply hose down to the starter.
  20. I’m thinking pretty serious about changing my H67 over to air start , I’m going to put the air starter back on the parts truck and see if all the valves work, and try to start the engine, then I can take all of it off, the big lines will have to be replaced, I was getting bored, I need a 16th winter project! ( with no shop ! )
  21. It had a line to the return,, the injector looks better. Yep a one inch air gun,,, wonder if the vanes are the same,, I got it free, Just messing around with it on a cool rainy day.
  22. It was a rainy morning, so I thought I’d take it apart, actually all I need is the end gaskets , and I can make those, the vanes have scratches but not terribly bad,,, I’ll contact ASC and see if any thing is available,, if not I’ll clean it up and put it back together ( I did mark all the sections in the direction they came apart) . Thanks for the suggestions .
  23. Thank yall for the comments, We have found a few parts with a metal detector, and about half a mile is where most were found,, Some of the parts are small and it’s more trouble at this point to keep looking, I think I have enough to finish it. And yes I’m keeping all the air start stuff,, I actually would love to find a small parts rebuild kit for the starter, I aired it up and it was stuck, it blows air straight through, I took it off and got it lose , I might take it apart on a cold rainy day.
