  1. Got the defrost hoses in , while I still had room to lay down. Almost got all the wiring completed, Turn signal switch and brake lights is about all I have left inside the cab .
  2. I’m with you on standing on my head under the dash, I’m definitely not as limber as I was when I started this project. I ordered some 1 3/4 defrost hose for the LJ from “ Old Air “ looks close to that. I haven’t had time to install it yet, probably need to soon before I put my seats in ( that will give more grunting and twisting room for me! ) You’re making good progress. Thanks for the update and pics.
  3. Slipped a few hours in today to paint the floor panels, seat bases . Hopefully I can set in it soon!
  4. I think your correct, I’ve got it insulated pretty good in the roof also so it should be fine.
  5. Thank you, I have room for a short muffler, When i actually worked this truck back in the late 70s I had a muffler beside the transmission, it still has the factory mounts , flat bar with springs to allow for movement, I had the local steel shop roll a piece of 1/8 plate about 24” long, I welded up the seam and, it was probably about 12” in diameter, 4 inch in and out. With a 4 in stack.( Not a backdrop manifold back then) I honestly believe my homemade muffler made it louder! It was perfect for a 19 year old, But 44 years later, with a backdrop It Will NOT go back on!
  6. Had a little time over the weekend, Got seat frames in primer, put the heater together and installed.
  7. 67RModel’s plan sounds like the simplest. If you pulled the B right up to the trailer neck , the lowboy axles would not have much more weight then hauling a pickup truck. But I have bought a couple of trucks I have driven home that distance. Like Brian said, check it over, change the fuel filters ( take a couple spare fuel filters ) the tires on my LT are tube type , put on in 1973 , I run about 60 lbs in them ( wouldn’t ever haul a load) . Pick a nice day and Make some great Memories.
  8. Happy New Year,, My goal is to drive this LJ before 2023 is over ( even with NO Fenders! ) My Wife surprised me on Christmas Day,, I had took my seats to a friend of mines trim shop a few months back, and told him I was in no hurry, She knew they were there and had him cover them for my Christmas present! Now I have to get moving on painting my seat base’s.
  9. Very nice adopter you made, that will make a smooth assembly.
  10. That’s what I figured, I’ll probably do the same thing. Thanks
  11. It’s straight ( for now) I have room under for a short muffler, I thought I would run it for a bit when I get it on the road and see how annoying it is . I remember you drove yours to the DMV , how did it sound?
  12. Had a few hours today to mount the stack, too cold around here for much anything else !
  13. That H of yours is going to be beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing it at a show ,, We’re plugging along, making progress!
  14. Lol ! That is the only way we’re going to be able to get a older Cummins started this weekend! Great Video!
  15. Thank You, I used most all the original copper I could, l replaced the plastic going to the spring brake valve ( we added the spring brakes in the 70s ) . I’m putting the E brake handle back for looks , I removed the drum. The Hand valve you see is not original, it had one on the column just under the floor, with a long rod ( something like my LT , but was on the column.) It started leaking around 1980 and I took this one off a parts F Model we had and extended the lines with rubber, I still have the control rod , the old valve is long gone. I have 2 LJ parts trucks and both are plumbed like I have this one . I bought a roll of copper so I could replace what I could.
  16. Yes that guard has always been on it , not sure if it was a dealer option, I don’t have a picture of truck in the 50s , but it was on it in the 60s , that is only the 3rd one I ever saw, I had a parts truck with one and someone stole it ( and more steal) I’m sure they took it to scrap yard. I have another we got from Bruce Essick. All have the “M” in them . I’m sure the scrap yard got a deal for yours and the one that I got stolen,,, they are probably worth $300-$400 now days. That bumper and guard weighs more then a smart car!
  17. Got some more inside work done today, installed the hand valve and made some new copper lines ( I think it looks more “1951 “ then plastic ) . Also got my floor panels; bumper and grill guard back from blast shop, hopefully I can put some primer on them tomorrow.
  18. That front end is popping now,, It’s getting a finished look! Great Detail.
  19. Yes , you are correct, they are priceless memories. I was the same age as him the first time I rode with my Dad in that Hennis C model, Dad has passed on, But every time I open the door on it the memories are refreshed.
  20. His mind is like a sponge at that age! He does remember a lot more stuff that we’ve done too this truck then i can.
  21. Hopefully he can look back at these pictures and enjoy the memories, he’s growing up fast for sure! Almost 3 years since I started working on this project again, he’s been with me every step of the way,, this picture was spring 2020 .
  22. A little more time today, got the steering column in and after school help!
  23. Got a little time over the weekend, I got the wiring done to all markers and tail lights ( Not sure my lights are period correct,,, but I have about 4 sets from new cab and chassis,, Free ! ) I painted my heater & steering column today, hopefully I can keep moving on with turn signal switch, hand valve and my “ NEW “ steering wheel.
  24. Fortunately I was able to check out that lathe in person,,, I was impressed! I love the overhead pulley system, Just think of how environmentally friendly a complete machine shop would be running off a stream and water wheel,,, But I’m sure some endangered fish would be harmed by the water wheel!
  25. a little more wiring progress this evening.it will start with out jumping stuff with a screwdriver , now for the lights.
