  1. i know a lot of you guys here really know your stuff about old equipment, tools ect. i thought i would share this video with you guys and thought some of you guys might have some additional knowledge about this snowblower itself. i bought it 2-20th hand used many years ago don't really know much about any kind of history age ect on it.

  3. this time of the year i have a deep freeze right outside the door...lol i have used a hotplate to heat parts before. the deep fryer is a good idea. would take a pretty big one to put a truck hub in though.....lol have never heard that the inner race is supposed to spin on the spindle and considering the spindle is not considered a wear item and the bearing is. i am pretty sure that is not how its designed to work and i have taken many apart that had no wear marks from the inner race spinning on the spindle. either way its something iv done many times over the years and never had a failure caused by it. by putting a few punch marks in it your only raising the surface a very small amount in a very small area around the punch mark my thought that its doing less damage to a precision ground surface than the inner race spinning on the spindle. but ill regardless you don't have to do it if you don't want to. i thought it was more of elevator music than porn music.....lol finding good music that's what your looking for that is copyright free can be a struggle sometimes....lol i actually wasn't that happy with that music choice but sometimes you just start spending to much time on something and say f-it good enough it was more just for background than being a focus anyway....lol
  4. i prefer the 2 piece seals. the stemco 2 peice grit guards mentioned above are a very good seal. here is a video i did recently on some tips and tricks for doing seals bearings and races

  8. good god i must be more technologically challenged than i realized. for some reason i can't figure out how to send a text to someone that is not in my contacts or who has never sent me one or from doing it from the call log. i guess send him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. ill mess with it again a little later and see if i can figure it out. i don't know why it seems to be so complicated......lol
  9. i have Facebook but i have always preferred forums for this kind stuff. i don't really do any Facebook groups, a couple buy/sell type groups. but i even had to turn off all my notifications for them. i try to keep my Facebook to just friends and family people i know personally. i can kinda check in on it and see what people are up to maybe post something every once in a while. the thing about face book is it moves to fast and i miss a lot of stuff that people post because im not glued to it like a lot of people. even Facebook in itself has its own negative social impact. you hardly ever call your old friends anymore and ask them what they have been up to. cause you checked Facebook a couple days ago and saw they had a burrito for breakfast.
  10. not as dedicated as it may seem....lol when i got smacked it was 4-5pm i pretty much picked up for the day and went home didn't get back after it till the next morning. had it been earlier in the day i might have just kept going. but i certainly didn't feel like doing any more work for that day.....lol enough years ago that i don't remember how many years ago it was. i pulled in from the road and picked up a slow leak in a steer tire on my way home. i decided to fix it before i went to the house rather than potentially have a flat steer tire when i came back out the next morning. so being in a hurry and wanting to go home. i just nosed the truck in the shop busted the steer tire apart. patched it then before i put it back on i decided i better pressure wash the mud and grime off the rim before i put the tire back on. wheeled the pressure washer over grabbed the pull cord and gave it a sturdy pull. when i did that i racked my elbow into a bracket on the roll up door. and laid my elbow open pretty bad. then im standing there and as im realizing its going to take a trip for some stitches i look around and realize i cant leave. because i cant close up the shop due to the truck being half way in the door. and i cant move the truck because it doesn't have a steer tire on it. so i remounted the tire backed the truck out of the door and then went to the hospital for stitches. when i came back the next day it took a bit of pressure washing before it no longer looked like a crime scene...lol but that was more a choice of do i want to suffer threw mounting this tire or possibly come back to a shop with no tools in it. after i was done pressing the kingpins out i welded some legs on that press and made it a bench top press. i have another stand up but i didn't want to cut it up for this project but it always ends up burred in the corner. i recorded turning it into a bench top press and had planned on including that in this video but this one got kinda long just in what i covered on it so it got left out. maybe it will get included somewhere else or become its own video or maybe end up in the scrapped footage folder i dunno yet....lol yes sometimes i get a little lax on the safety gear. im not sure exactly where i cut the footage but when i first started pressing the kingpin out and there was some tension on the press i put a full face shield i was also standing back and off to the side pretty much completely out of frame. then as soon as it started moving and there wasn't as much force on the press i took it off. i think i was also wearing it when flap disking the axle and spindle. i generally will not do any thing with a grinder or a welder without eye protection (metal in the eye or flash burn is not fun ask me how i know....lol) when i was trying to remove the first one i did have a pair of normal safety glasses on when i got smacked in my face. and i have not found them sense....lol safety gear is certainly somewhere i could/should pay more attention to. thank you. i hope to avoid future injury's as well.
  11. i don't care if your running 13 months a year 50 bucks an hour isn't enough, i imagine a tri axle isn't quite as expensive to run as a tractor trailer but even being generous on on operating cost difference driver makes what 10 bucks an hour owner makes 5? id go flip burgers before i ran my truck that cheap.

  14. yeah mine has straight pins rather than taper, but in theory removal is exactly as you described. i think the taper pins are a much better way to do it than straight pins kinda like a tie rod end. as once you get the slightest movement they will fall out. problem comes in when they have been installed on the truck for god only knows how long and road grim water salt ect. the pin seizes solid into the axle eye.
  15. iv had wedge bolts get stuck pretty bad before too. but these ones came right out. really everything came apart nicely other than the splines on the s cam were stuck on the slack adjuster and after getting that apart the splines were pretty much gone, but wedge pin knocked right out no bolts were unusually stuck/stubborn. i really thought half way into it that it was going to be a easy kingpin job. worst i had before this one was a izuzu npr where the king pins were so froze up it was hard to turn the wheel with power steering. and i think even those kingpins came out easier than these ones did.
  16. the wedge bolts? yes well aware of them, and yes they were removed. the kingpins are out now they were just very tightly seized in the axle eye.
  17. anyone that could hit that hard i wouldn't be screwing with.....lol it would take a mountain of a man to throw a punch like that. i think its probably going to look worse before it starts looking better.
  18. no video today. but there may be one next week showing how i finally actually got the thing apart. started changing king pins on the mack, they turned out to be the most suborn kingpins iv ever done to date. (my Mack is a mutt with Eaton axles) started at them with a big drift and a 20 lb sledge hammer and some heat had already been at it a little while. wasn't recording at the time but gave my drift a mighty wallop with a 20 lb sledge hammer and all of a sudden i am seeing stars. not really sure exactly how it happened never even saw it coming but my drift flew back with vengeance and knocked me just to the lower left of my nose. whole left side of my face is swole up black eye and i think it knocked about 8 teeth loose......lol really would not be surprised if there is a fracture in my cheekbone. in the end took every bit of 40k lbs of hydraulic force and then maybe some. plus some heat before they finally decided they wanted to come out. thankfully still have both my eyes, i did have normal safety glasses on but it knocked them clean off my head. the impact was below them anyway but im not sure they would have been effective against a 1 inch drift flying threw the air at mach 2. thankfully still in one piece even if i may look a little funny have trouble chewing and so on and so forth don't think there is anything that won't heal anyway......lol

  21. yeah that is certainly a far different car than a base model bare bones car, although i must say even her focus did handle fairly well for just a basic transportation car. iv never drove any of the special package focus's id hear people talk about a focus being a fast car and i was just kinda like well my focus is not....lol
  22. nice, i was never too impressed with the focus i did not drive it much thoguh, it was a good inexpensive transportation pretty reliable it was just a base model manual windows locks ect. i seem to remember changing ignition coils a couple times. and a few other little things but relatively trouble free for the 10+ years or so we had it. we bought it as a couple year old used car for not a lot of money. fit and Finnish is nicer on the altima its quieter and smoother. i suppose we have had that 2 years now and i think it only has 15k miles on it right now so we have not done anything to it but change the oil a few times. (she doesn't drive much if you cant tell....lol) she really liked her focus though. she would still be driving it now if some dingbat didn't total it for her. i tried talking her into a new focus or fusion but she did not like the look of the newer ones. she wanted a Honda or the Nissan i thought the Nissan seemed like the better of the two.
  23. most the time means its time for a new compressor. if its a new to you truck i would drain and monitor for a while first. could also check your turbo for blowing oil too. but every time i have personally seen a lot of oil in the air tanks a new compressor fixed the problem. a compressor that is passing a lot of oil will ruin your air dryer cartridge as well.
  24. i would never consider using a toilet paper filter for a engine.....lol just does not seem like a good idea interesting on the ford. we had a 2003-4 ish ford focus up till a couple years ago when someone decided to smash into it for us only had like 70k original miles on it (wifes car) she has a new nissan altimia now. she remembered that she had picked up a fram filter for her car last time she had me change the oil on it and made me go out and change her filter after she watched my video.....lol
  25. i would not be surprised if Walmart changes manufactures often. one thing i did find interesting is the walmart filter i bought for this test was on sale for $2.00 the average fram filter on the shelf was around 3.60 shelf sticker showed normal price on the super tech filter at 2.89 almost made we wonder if they were trying to move out a production run or phase out the filters. but who knows. i did find it interesting that they were not only cheaper but appear to be better constructed. i have heard of this with people who make there own home brew bio diesel. i have never heard of it being used in a high temperature high volume high pressure application such as a modern engine.
