  1. Welcome aboard ! I saw your truck on kijji recently. Wasn't there long though. I think it was very reasonably priced. And like everyone else I'm glad to see your restoring it. You sure have come to the right place for info and ideas, there is a lot of knowledgable "B" people here. And pics are always welcome. Keith
  2. Let us know how you make out.
  3. We have had limiters on trucks up here ( Ontario, Canada ) for years. It sure messes up traffic when one truck is passing another, and there is only a difference of a couple miles per hour. Our limit is 105 Km, aprox. 65 mph. When it first started they would check the computer in your truck to make sure it was limited. They do not know how to limit mechanical engines easily , so my old R's are not limited. Wouldn't matter anyway….. top speed in my 85 RD is 55 mph
  4. I don't know if this helps, but I just found about PAI. I got a catalog today. They have a fan clutch EFC-1646.
  5. Wanted to give you all an update on my moldings. I found out PAI Canada is 1 hour from my house.I Called, they had it in stock. Now I have new trim for my rad opening. They were very nice to deal with, and happy I found them. In a case like this where Mack has stopped selling the parts, I would recommend them. My first choice would still be genuine Mack. I compared the Mack trim to the PAI . Side by side you can see a slight difference . Thanks Vlad, RW613 and 2stack for your info. Before this I had no idea I was so close to a valuable resource like PAI Keith
  6. You should be proud of your son, he has bigger aspirations than live in your basement and play on the computer………………. wait a minute………I'm on the computer……………..not in my parents basement though,……….. guess its ok. Congrats… looks like you have a son to be proud of!!!!
  7. Might even have a little extra gas coming out the back end. lol
  8. 6 or 7 years ago a bought new wheel clamps for my 85 RD, The ones from Mack turned out to be way cheaper than my tire shop. If I remember right, around 2 bucks/clamp from Mack . I think the way Mack parts prices have gone, the tire shops will be way cheaper than Mack now………..sad really
  9. What happens at Macungie……stays at Macungie?
  10. I went to there website and put in the Mack part #. It described the part. I don't know if anyone can get part there till I investigate a little more. I will post info about it when I get it figured out. Seems like it could be a good resource for parts.
  11. What a beautiful truck storkmack!!!! If my new addition turns out half as nice as yours I will be happy. And your right, would never miss the trim when its cleaned up properly. GOOD JOB!
  12. Thanks for the great info guys! It looks like I might be in luck with PAI . They recognize the mack part # on the computer. But I will feel better if I actually talk to someone there. I will keep you posted. Thanks everyone for your help, and for this site . Makes working on old Macks fun, not frustrating, because your not sure of something.
  13. 2stack, it is the trim piece that goes on the hood opening for the rad . They come in 3 pieces, bottom and 2 sides and clips for each joint I'm going to use the moldings from my plow ( don't see them anyway, their behind the plow harness) Maddog13407, that is a great idea ! Looks like these parts could be worth a lot one day. Guess I have to accept the fact my R's are old.
  14. I found out something kinda interesting lately . I ordered the rad opening molding for my newest addition. It was pretty rough and I couldn't reverse them because the back side is worse than the front. Mack/Volvo sent me the lower chrome piece, 3 clips and a roll of black rubber. The black rubber replaces the 2 side chrome pieces. My local Mack dealer was very helpful, but said they couldn't get the chrome pieces. I thought it must be possible so I contacted Watts , again, a very friendly ,helpful person told me they could not get the chrome pieces, I would have to get the rubber. He said he wouldn't recommend it though, if I wanted to stay original. I agreed. So cherish your rad opening chrome moldings, they will be worth a lot soon! Keith
  15. Cool pic, thanks for sharing. Keith
  16. I do , looks like an International s series cab. I've owned a couple of them. Am I close?
  17. Thanks a million farmer, thats a great help. Guess I couldn't see the number for looking at it. You will also be proud to know I had the new to me R out yesterday, and when you put your foot into it … it rolls the coal real nice. Very happy with it so far!!
  18. Help Barry ! I am in Ontario Canada, I was trying to buy the radiator opening molding for my r688st.Two of Part # 24RU516, I have the clips and lower piece new already. Mack/Volvo shipped MAC 85136069 - it is a black rubber gasket that they say to use in place of the chrome pieces. Needless to say, I would like chrome. I tried the phone # for Watts but it won't work ( maybe because I'm outside the states) Could I get a # for watts? and is it possible to get those pieces ? Mack up here say "black rubber or nothing" Thanks in advance Keith
  19. Looks great leversole, nice job! I kinda like the white rims, looks clean. Enjoy yourself at Macungie. Wish I could go, maybe next year
  20. My vote is grey also. Your truck and trailer look great! Good job …………. And I don't mind the Kubota either.
  21. Thanks big dog, I am going to find out about chassis saver, sounds interesting. I know there was a thread on chassis paint a little while ago. I have to find out the Canadian equivalent. Keith
  22. Very cool truck! Like the colour .
  23. Its hard for one of our Ontario trucks to not see salt Bigdog. It would have seen salt at the end of every landscaping season (hauled landscape stone). Its getting worse now. The municipalities start putting salt brine down in October any time the weather gets below 0 c (32f) even if its not snowing.
  24. Things are going smooth so far. Just small items for certification. Got my emission(smoke) test . A nice clean 1.4 percent. I'm getting the oil tested also. Hopefully things are ok inside the E6. Also working on the exterior. The hood should really be painted, but this is a bad time of year for me to start something like that. I decided to go at it with some rubbing compound, and see how it comes out. Turns out 26 year old paint polishes up pretty nice.
