  1. how for so you come up with that answer and do you no what all them there hieroglyphics mean as I have often wondered and have no real idea does anybody no if timken and rockwell centers are interchangeable ?? thanks in advance for any answers this dumb Aussie skippy the bush Kangaroo is wondering Paul
  2. I dunno what the rating is but the reason I said I thought it was small is it dosnt have torque rods must have them on top of the diff center were as when they get a bit heavier they had a six rod set up and the heavy duty had an eight rod set up but I could be most likely wrong though Paul
  3. moving right along there Timmyb I would think any bit of rust proofing would be better than none Paul
  4. sounds about right then I should read things closer Timken axles became or were bought out by not sure which Rockwell in the 60's I think Paul
  5. yes this leads to the problem that is all these things are old trucks and most werent meant to go real fast and dont have the power to if they are geared to go quick any hill or head wind makes it time change gears
  6. Superdog I know why you bought it just to remind your self how good a Mack is looks like a Timken back end to me might be only light 30000 - 34000 lbs they are the only brand backends I have seen with the oil filled trunnions and the springs on top like a Mack Paul
  7. maybe just crook head gasket pull some injectors out of one head at a time see which head is leaking Paul
  8. why dont you put the second 3 speed box in backwards it will then give two good over drives and will solve all your problems Paul
  9. I always find it amusing how depending on what part of the world your from depends on how bad something can look all a matter of what you are used to I guess ? In Australia on cattle trucks they would fit grease lines and nipples (zerks I think you Yanks call them) on blocks some were convienient to force grease in between chassis rails as cattle trailers were normal trailers with crates built on them and all pi$$ and $hit would leak through and get between the rails and rust them reel bad it amazes me when you lot in the states do these rails no one ever fits these grease lines to stop it happening again Did Mack paint between these rails when new ? fair bit of work ahead of you there Tim Paul
  10. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! im impressed what a collection Paul
  11. Ian I was down your way the other day should have knocked on the door and introduced myself mrs Mack would have had some Macks to play with lol Paul
  12. I reckon they would be up near 54 feet long maybe just over by a couple if inches every standard pallet we use is 4 foot square so 26 divided by 2 equals 13 pallets up each side 13 times it by 4 equals 52 then I suppose you would have to add a couple of feet for the fridge unit up the front it might be 54 feet ? Paul just a bit more useless information Maxicube is Fruehauf in Australia and I reckon that happened back in the early ninetys Im guess they are still Fruehauf in the states if not disregard my waffle seeya
  13. you should have wiped the grease off your hands you left a hand print on the one on your left hand side Paul
  14. yep gotta agree with Swishy all sounds a bit like BS to me have heard of keep revs up if the motor has idle for a long time to stop it glazing up but Im not sure on that one either Paul
  15. gudday back at ya from Australia and welcome a manual for what? might need some help to narrow this down a bit for some of these fellas Paul
  16. mate if your girls help with the truck and so on it wouldnt be right not to put daughters on the door you would have to be proud of them so if they were my girls I wouldnt hesitate go for it Paul
  17. man that looks cold or is it hot ??? you lot run a muck in the great white north Paul
  18. I have gotta laugh when I read this it makes me think of my own life when I was 15 years old DAD was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DUMB HOW DID SURVIVE MY GOD HE WAS SO OLD but the funny thing is by the time I reached 25 yrs dad had got so smart he was such a worldly type of bloke now he had answers to most of things and would you believe even his advice was sort not frowned upon and the biggest shock of all we started to get along now had he come around to my way of thinking or was it me to his? I always find it funny when as young lads we all want change the world and as the years go by we just want enjoy the world Paul an older and maybe a bit wiser person
  19. Hmm is quite correct conflicting Dr reports good old google if you only had one crook injector what theakerstwo says is correct but if theres two and they follow each other in the firing order it will hunt and still perform with great big gobs of power under load thats why I say pull the injectors your self and take them to someone who knows what they are doing and have them checked not rebuilt just checked. In Australia smaller places have checked injectors while Im standing there they take me into the shop and show me what there doing and checking and I have never being charged for this either were as bigger shops tend to say leave them over there and come back later today ! And when you come back the parts are always worn and need to be replaced of course there worn there not new but are they worn out ??????????? and if I spend the coin getting these fixed or rebuilt is it going to fix the problem ???? I always prefer to find whats wrong first then spend money to fix the actual problem Paul
  20. mate the link thingo is not working for me Paul
  21. it would be loud straight out pipe by the look of it looks like there is plenty of room for an extra two cylinders 12V71 maybe
  22. I would pull the injectors out first and have them checked need to go someone who really nos there stuff not some place that just read it out a book Paul
