  1. I will pray for y'all, speedy recover.
  2. Check your front springs pins, it holds your springs together and center your axle on springs, if one is broken it will cause that problem, also check that your steering wheel is centered if not then you got issues with your tie ends are not adjusted correctly. turn your steering from far left to far right counting your revolutions of your steering wheel, then turn 1/2 back and check that your tires are straight ahead.
  3. I believe that as to what the trucking industry was 25 years ago, it will not be what it is today, 25 years from now. Just to meet the further fuel mileage requirements and EPA regulations will cause some drastic changes. First the weight factor, the day of the sleeper cab will be long gone along with the cross country driver. Slip seating and drop & hook with drivers doing turn around to fall within time requirements. The change over to LPG (taking up to 6-8 hours to refuel) and the never ending high cost of diesel fuel will improve rail transport, The cost of insurance and the sheer number of personal autos on the roads will limit trucks to operating times. The day of different trucks manufactures, as we have already seen, will be down to one or two companies, just from the cost of operating. . There will still be a small need for overweight and oversize loads but that is going to be restricted beyond belief. From my own work experiences what I know 20 years ago hardly applies today. Then there is the last factor, the quality of the Driver, we know that this is not the same world we grew up in. One's opine !!!
  4. Viewed all 17 pages, very interesting, ( Wife and kids in KY, I had to work today and tomorrow) . I drove three different GMC ( with DD) over the years, best advice an old boss gave me on shifting was to keep one foot on the fuel and one on the brake and give her hell. A problem I have run into a few times with the DD is they will suck oil through the air compressor and run off with you and if one does run off while driving pull the emergency stop, kill the switch, put into HIGH gear, lay on the brakes and hit the ditch, and clean out your underwear. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
  5. Great piece, better then Farmer's Almanac. Glad I did not finish High School, I qualify for Social Security or if you been in prison twice you also qualify.
  6. That's like getting a Lincoln built by Yougo
  7. Double check your vent lines entire line no crimps or flatten spots
  8. Almost a daily thing in our lot. Last night, Two non-English speaking Master Drivers ( so they think) meet in the corner, both trailers were opened like sardine cans time they got done. Last week five trucks parked in the NO parking area across from our fuel pumps, driver comes in to get fuel, load strap on trailer caught the front bumper of a nice Pete, rip entire hood off and radiator, left on a hook. This past June Two Russiaka- American drivers came in for an oil changed, Fail to understand instruction, came into bay about 30 MPH, trailer ended on concrete pole took out entire corner of building roof sat on top of trailer entire mess sat there 3 days while the insurance got straighten out, cost them $ 47,000.00 Got plenty of pictures of that mess. Three trucks have burn in a year, one driver got and look, sat back down and finished eating, loss tractor and reefer, took two weeks to get insurance on that mess. After dark o'clock 100 parking spaces goes fast, then it a free for all.
  9. Green if you want to completely change it every two or three years, plus keep your water filter changed regularly and double checking your SCA level at every oil changed. The purple is an additive to bring your SCA level back in line. If you don't your water pump impeller and cylinder liner will wear from the silicone. Red is extended life good for 750,000 miles and you don't have to check your SCA level. DO NOT mix the red and green together, cause a chemical reaction will eat head gasket up. Never add water to the Red, just more coolant. Unless the Red gets mixed with fuel , doing any kind of repair you can recycle the Red coolant with a fine mess screen. If you do a conversation to red, completely flush out the green with clear water with engine running with thermostats opened.
  10. Disc brakes have been standard in Europe for 20 plus years. I was under the impression that all 2015 Class 8 tractors and trailers are required to have all disc brakes. Our Company is already gearing up to service them. The biggest problem we have is doing DOT inspections, You got to pull all wheels off to measure the brake pad linings. By the way there is no longer any core charge on brake shoes, hence no rebuilding them.
  11. It's all about numbers, When "I am no crook" Nixon went to China in '72, the number guys seen all the people there and the addition went through the roof. Today China has more people that speak English and own cell phones then there are Americans, China has more children with a high IQ then we have children. Why do we trade with China, a communism country, and not with Cuba?? It's the numbers, It does not matter what party gets elected, it is Who is making the profit. One million seconds is 12 days, our current National debt is equal to 34,000 years. If this country had not bail out China, Russia, Germany, Japan and the countries that were on our side, before, during, and after WWII, We would all be talking a different language. The rest of the world really does not like America, even our so called friends, envy US because we have what they will never achieve. The FREEDOM to say I AM AN AMERICAN. I wrote an editorial in '07 stating that the best investment people could make was in ammo and China's money. Was I wrong???

    OH OH

Being a conservative democrat liberal republican, independent person (tea party). I believe to each their own. If these people don't want guns in their lives, so be it. Let them call a cop when they need one, who doesn't have a gun. Let them provide their own security without a gun, let them go through any checkpoint without the security personnel having a gun, let them fly into any airport without seeing any guns, let them defend their family and homes without having a gun, let them give up their rights, but I keep one by my bed, one in my pocket, one in the car with plenty of back-up and ammo. ANYONE want to come and take MINE ????
  13. I thinking about putting an Airstream 60's model 16 footer onto a 14 foot cab to end of rail Superliner day cab. a tag along trailer on a pintle hitch would pull the toys around. Wife wants to paint it some sort of PINK.. (My thoughts, Classical PINK)???
  14. Check to see that hub is not overfilled, should be on outside ring of sight glass, check hub plug (soft rubber and vent hole not stop-up) if plastic sight hub it does get old and brittle ,subject to hairline cracks, it can be replaced with service kit. If replacing entire hub cap, wouldn't recommend no silicone on gasket, completely clean mating surfaces (no oil residue) and don't overfill.
  15. I miss my X-wife, but my aim is getting better. Took new wife turkey hunting today, Got a 22 pounder, scare the folks in frozen food section half-to -death, its not what you think, been married to the second woman 33 years, beg her to ask me.
  16. Shine a light into the hole, if spring is NOT broke and it looks good to the cage bolt slots, then remove cage bolt from the side of brake chamber, Put nut and washer back on very end of cage bolt, insert and FEEL the two pongs go into the cage bolt slots and take a pair of vise grips and turn bolt 1/4 turn to right. This should lock the cage bolt into the slot, tighten nut all the way in (It will be tight) this should release the spring brake, Remove the clevis pin, airlines and mounting nuts . IF the spring is broken and all jam up so you can't get the cage bolt into slot, the safe way to remove the chamber (If spring is broken, there will not be as much pressure on spring) Is to leave the clevis pin in and airlines on and remove the mounting nuts making sure you are out of the way from the chamber, because it will jump back and it can nail you if in the way. After it comes loose then remove airlines and clevis pin. The park spring is at 500 pound tension, DO NOT REMOVE the bands from around the chamber. Both ways you do not need to put air to system. If your new chambers are not pre-caged, either cage or replace airlines and mount your clevis pin, back off the slack adjuster, and apply air pressure and brake chamber will suck in and make mounting easier.
  17. I been playing with that idea also, I think it would be simpler to transplant body unto a late model chassis with air brakes and hub piloted wheels, to convert a fluid to air would depend if your rears have bolt on brake backing plates, and if you can find the correct change over, no problem, next problem would be supplying air and storage, plus your brake pedal would have to be changed, also running all air lines for park and service, the biggest hurdle would be your front steer axle, no brakes or change out your complete front axle. Be interested in what others say about this.
  18. I got my affordable health care package today, two aspirins and a Band-Aid.
  19. Great Pictures, Hope to get out that way in March or April, same route.
  20. Sir, I would be interested in your truck, I recently bought a 40EF in Duvall, WA. The problem I have is getting it to TN. Thought about buying something around here and driving out there, but if I can buy your truck and find a trailer out there, load the 40EF and my car and drive it all back here, that would work for me. I have some experience with road trips and willing to take a chance. Any help you can provide me would be greatly appriecated. Plan on restoring the EF, but if anyone else would be wanting the Superliner I would willing to make a deal.
  21. NO Hurry, Complete truck, not running, needs to be winched on, Got a big tree to hook to for unloading, all wheels on truck, unknown weight, would like glass covered before moving. need price and available when it can done. Thanks for any help. Call 270 438-9678
  22. Tarps and weeds growing under and around would be the worst thing to do. 5 or 6 cans of primer sprayed over everything with some type of shed or out of direct sunlight would be better, I think, could be wrong, but a good farmer always puts his equipment under a shed.
  23. You inspire me, so much that I just bought a 40 EF long road to restoring thou, any tips on where to start and anything you would have done different, how about parts, were they difficult to find? Any help you send my way would sure be wonderful. Thanks...Keven
  24. Test your fan clutch solenoid for volts, check your air supply to solenoid and to your fan clutch, fan clutch could be shot.
  25. Test your fuel shutoff solenoid on top of fuel pump, should be getting 12 volts, on some models there is a override thumbscrew, in front of the fuel shutoff, turn in all the way, if engine starts the only way to shut down is by turning screw back out. Do not take out the two plugs on heads. I got more ideas if that doesn't do it.
