    There was a company out of Mass. called Petroleum carries red r- models with chalmers and disc brakes. When the CHs came out Mack had given them a truck with same spec s to try and weed out the flaws. There tanks also had chalmers no maintenance!

    They do have few flaws when they didnt check the dog house to see if they were all back and the family went looking for there father husband a day later and found the truck off the hiway in a swamp less then two miles from the terminal.I imagine they check now after losing a driver.

    It all started in a little town in Connecticut Colechester at one time all the Ford chassis were purchased through Bridge-Haven Ford in Milford CT and the box trailer went through Frehauf/Alantic star in Wallingford CT.

    We use to deliver gas &diesel to them back in the 80s and they were putting them together .I bought two tri axel dump trailers a Hobbs & Fruehauf they were identical they use to Re-brand a lot stuff.

    I work for a company that had A frame trailer with two PREcast wall panels get caught on a set of tracks Norwalk CT RT7 driver jump out of the U-model ran down the tracks trying to stop the train and the engineer wave and smiled then herd the hit.We also had bulk trailer park on the tracks wile closing his dome covers had to jump off the top and watch the R-model tractor trailer get totaled out.

    Ive questioned a few things on those and was told sales person at Rhode Island Mack advised it 50 truck order mistake instead of getting 5or 10 to do a test or a rental same spec .O&G went out and bought quad axles 6 speeds 300 I test drove one HI HO 350 12 speed rite spec other than 24 volt system Mack must had extra parts around, Kinda like a Ford order parts for 85 but if its built before May its has 84 parts .

    Red horse 87 88 r models at CF gulf had 2060 couldn't get through the drivers that you could only split 1 st gear had to test the old CF drivers because it was a big jump from 5 to 6 speed tranny.

    I just priced a unit for my o1 rd 650.00 for the complete unit in the cab.

    You can do the inspection your self just fill out the right form inspector qualification.

    You only gain 3+4 miles per gear so it take practice patience and a little game of twister.

    Brandon smooth side AR400 13 k plus 3100 for paint and install easily to clean with out ribs general purpose body 3k cheaper floors are good but walls soft mild steel rust rott.ben there don it.
