  1. Wrecker drivers should be removing the driveline on ALL trucks being towed. I seen a wrecker drop off a truck for engine problems, he didnt remove the axles or driveshaft. The T310M was in lo range while he was rolling down the highway. Smoked the rear/aux case. Poor old rear case bearings, they were spinning their little hearts out.
  2. Tow it to a dealer and have the clutch recalibrated and update the MID 130. Customers can repair/replace the trans or clutch but it still has to go to the dealer to be recalibrated and/or reprogrammed.
  3. How about this, Maxitorques and Eatons can be repaired/replaced by the customer in their own shops. Ishifts and Mdrives can be replaced at the customer's shop but have to be towed to the dealer for programming and calibration, this includes clutch replacement. But as long as you get the extended warranty on the Ishift/Mdrive, or you are a bigger fleet with programming capabilities, this will never be a problem.
  4. Ive done this before. I plugged the connectors in the way I THOUGHT they ran and was wrong.
  5. Master Technician doesnt really mean anything. It just means you passed some classes in Allentown and completed all your online training. Some dealers will have 22 year olds with 1 year experience who are "Master Techs." I worked at a Mack/Volvo dealer for over 10 years and was a Master Tech. I passed all my Allentown classes and my wife completed all my online training. Yes my wife, she has also completed several other "Master Techs" online trainings for a fee. Dealers get paid more hours for warranty work and diagnostics from Mack and Volvo for Master tech than they do for non master techs. At the end of the day its just a money game. Some Master Techs are masters. Some Master techs are just Masterbaters
  6. Check the gray round connector coming out of the back of the pump. Make sure all the pins are good and tight. A bad connection there will cause a, crank, no start problem. Etech came out in 1998, that why I mentioned it.
  7. If its an Etech, maybe the gear spun on the fuel pump. Just remove the pump and spin the gear, if the shaft doesnt spin with the gear, the pump is bad. You could also check the pressure relief valve. Its the fuel fitting going into the block below eup 5. Remove fuel line from fitting and pump primer. If fuel shots out easy, there could be debris stuck in it, or it could just be bad. You should feel some pressure build up while pumping the primer pump if the relief valve is good. But if its an E7 with an injection pump, none of this applies.
  8. Maybe an engine overspeed? Overspeed could explain the cam and lifter damage. Not sure about the injectors. Ive never seen a Quantum, so Im not sure if there is enough room to pull the cam out while engine is in. Our garbage trucks are cab overs, and the cam can be easily pulled without pulling the engine.
  9. Try disconnecting the J1939 and 1587 data link connector from the radio. Im pretty sure this will work. The ONLY negative side effect you will have from disconnecting this connector is, your blue tooth will not work. Most trucks dont have blue tooth anyways. Remove radio from dash. At the back of the radio you will see a connector with a green and yellow wire ( and other wires). This connector has the J1939 and 1587 (green and yellow wires are your J1939). Simply unplug this connector. Reinstall radio, make sure your antenna wire stays in the radio. Like I said, Im pretty sure this will work. Try it, see what happens. Leaving this connector disconnected will only effect the blue tooth function. THIS WILL NOT EFFECT THE TRUCK OPERATION!!!!!
  10. SPN 251 Time Time and date data missing on J1939 Possible causes- Instrument cluster, harness or harness connector. If it was me, I would reprogram all modules and recheck.
  11. You should be able to order one from your Mack dealer.
  12. I thought only Asets with powerleashes would kick engine brake solenoid codes. How's he getting a 3-5 code?
  13. I seen a customer replace a clutch and put the wrong flywheel back in. He had a cut flywheel for a Mack engine and figured they were all the same.
  14. So the UAW and Volvo are the reasons for today's Mack? Its good to see you point the finger at someone other than Volvo.
  15. That is why I say, complacency kills. We Americans are never ready to deal with the ruthlessness of foreign opponents but you adapt and overcome. All failures are do to failed leadership. Mack being bought out by Volvo is related to failed leadership. This is just my opinion.
  16. 128 pid 411 fmi 7 EGR diff pressure sensor. This sensor and the venturi tube have been updated. The sensor is after the egr cooler and its mounted to the venturi tube. The updated venturi tube has a rhino lining on it. If you have the updated venturi tube replace the egr diff pressure sensor, if its not updated replace the tube and sensor. Like Kyle said, remove and inspect the 7th injector. You might find the gasket port plugged. Clean the injector tip with carb cleaner and replace the bolts and gasket. If you have VCADS or PTT you could go into the Exhaust Aftertreatment Diagnostic screen and check your 7th injector adaptive factor. Its a graph that will show you if your 7th injector is within spec. Clear codes and do another regen. The 326 code is just telling you something wrong.
  17. You blame everything on Volvo. Where were the Mack leaders when Volvo was making all these back door deals? Someone was sleeping at their post. Complacency kills
  18. Old product=Old logo New product=New logo
  19. Most of the time you will see a list of codes, there's always codes. Pick the major codes or high counts. Truck 120 Since you're sending it to a dealer let them deal with it. Truck 119 Hard start-excessive crank and over 300,000 miles I would also leans toward injector cups. The very cold weather could also make it hard to start too. We had temps below 0 here too, some trucks wouldnt start until we dragged them inside and let them sit. If its a strong sounding excessive crank I would think injector cups, lazy and slow crank would be cold weather. Mid 128 Pid 153 is the crankcase pressure sensor, its on the valve cover. Crankcase and oil pressure sensors have been updated. Replace the sensor. Mid 144 84 road speed sensor What trans is in the truck? Active? Inactive? how many times? Mid 136 sid 3 fmi 7. I tackle these one at a time and only if its active or someone complains. Mid 128 sid 39 fmi 0 no idea what this is. You dont need to worry about every code, you need to figure out which ones to diagnosis.
  20. Its the same engine, so MAYBE you could have the same problems. There has been some software and part updates since 2004.
  21. Plugged EGR diff pressure sensor tubes. These are the tubes near the intake manifold. The tubes and/or ports clog. Causes low power Cracked flex pipes. This is the flex pipe before the DPF. Causes excessive regens. Plugged 7th injectors. This is the injector after the turbo. Cause incomplete or excessive regens. Post problem/complaint and codes up front for quicker replies.
