  1. I was just replying to your previous question. External oil lines help if your Jakes are weak or fade away. Im a little confused on your complaint. Are your Jakes weak and or fading away? Or Are your Jakes strong and cutting out at 1600rpms. Do they feel like they cut out electronically? Meaning, theyre there, theyre there, boom theyre gone.
  2. I wonder if any of those companies are hiring techs?
  3. If you're talking about the external oil lines for the Jakes, you would have to drill and tap the Jake housings to add the fittings. Everything else is pretty simple.
  4. Ive seen several trucks with broken rings on the 04 emission MP7s.
  5. Volvo/Mack has a new conical cup installation tool. It holds the cup down from the top edge while you sweg the tip. The old tool held the cup down at the same point as the injector was sealing with the cup. The idea is the new tool wont "damage" the sealing area on the cup. I guess we will see, time will tell. There's also a new cup removing tool that doesnt require tapping threads. It works awesome, 5Xs faster.
  6. WTF????????? WOW! If Mack had "The Worst Dealer of the Year Award," they would take it home. I wonder how many honest people they've screwed over.
  7. Has anyone checked your fuel and boost pressure? After 2 dealers replacing all those parts, someone should've atleast checked the boost pressure.
  8. I would think its a detent ball. I would check to see if they're all there. If you're not missing any, someone probably dropped one and got a new one instead of finding the one they dropped. I've found a pinch bolt before, tore down the trans and couldnt find where it came from. Somebody must've dropped it, got lazy and replaced the bolt.
  9. The MPs are ok assuming you have 2 spare trucks and a lifetime warranty.
  10. Maybe they left a boost hose clamp a little loose. Or maybe they installed the injectors and the rockershaft without adjust the intake valves, exhaust valves, and setting the new injector preloads. Im going to lean towards improper valve adjustment and injector preload settings.
  11. Cracked filters cause visible soot with no codes.
  12. That isnt normal. Take it to your dealer. Could be a cracked DPF (filter).
  13. SPN 102 FMI 14 Intake manifold pressure. Engine can go into derate causing low power. Possible causes Harness, Connectors, sensor, or boost leak. SPN 1127 FMI 18 Engine turbocharger intake manifold pressure. Engine Derate-low power. Possible causes, boost leaks, EGR system failure. This will cause low power. They both can be caused by a boost leak. Do you hear any boost leaks? Do you have a boost gauge? Does it read 35-37psi? What does the gauge say when the malfunction light comes on, or when you feel the low power? If I was working on it, I would road test the truck and monitor boost pressure and listen for leaks. Then I would pressure test the intake system and check for leaks. Repair any leaks and reroad test. If no problems found I would consider a test pressure sensor. Basically just replacing the boost pressure sensor, then reroad test or release to customer. It could be a number of different things. Has the dealer repaired or replaced anything? This doesnt sound like it would be that difficult to repair. You have 2 codes. You probably only have 1 problem that is causing another code to go with it.
  14. Well I guess my link didnt work. Either way try FSB 221-010. Maybe someone here can attach the file.
  15. Try FSB 221-010. We've been completing this fsb on trucks with the same complaint with good success. Try it on one truck and see how it goes. I just got a Mac computer so hopefully my link works.
  16. They'll probably tell you to replace all problem dashes and lube and adjust all door-lock linkages. We get brand new trucks that the key wont unlock the doors. Usually its because they werent adjusted correctly at the factory or the customer never locked the door and the linkage needs adjusted from never being used and the door opening and closing 1000s of times. Im interested in the reply you get.
  17. Synchronizer failure. Mack came out with new updated/improved parts that are suppose to prevent premature synchro and related gear failures. Lately we have been replacing trans for synchro failures. Part prices are up and reman trans prices are down. If you take it to a dealer I would price the repair and compare it to the price of replacing and make your decision. Parts guess about $2500 labor guess $1000.
  18. Clusters that go off and on with bumps, smacks, or pressing on the center are a sign of a bad circuit board. Replace both dash clusters. Its common.
  19. You could just add a manual gauge. You would need a gauge, 1/4" airline and a fitting to put in the intake. Your intake has a small pipe plug ( I think its 1/8 pipe thread). Remove the plug, add a fitting (90 degree, 45, or straight, whichever would work the best for you), install a manual gauge in your dash, and run the airline from the fitting to the gauge. Its that simple.
  20. Mack also has the T310M. You can select reverse and have all lo side gears (lo lo, lo, 1, 2, 3, 4).
  21. I've never seen or heard of the hood problem (until now). We have customers with 04, 07, 10 emissions and we have a body shop and I've never seen hood problems. Probably going to 3 hood problems tomorrow.
