  1. We are talking AC 460 Right?there are possible gains on older riggs! pre 2004
  2. No performance gains to be had, not to bad for being noisy if the exhast is behind and above the cab!the turbo and egr valve take care of the noise for the most part!
  3. several years ago before the format changed here there was a tips and tricks kinda post on how to set the clutch it was in the wiki portion of the page !It was a Mack TSB letter head it was posted by one of the members here I'm tring to find a copy of that TSB or Helpfull tips , (service Hints ) or ( what ever)! It discribes setting the clutch in the proper order checking and setting the clutch brake first then doing the internal adjustment. Does anyone have a copy of this????! Thanx!
  4. The longer bolts with a spacer is an update as the bolts used to break on some models! The fan blade is likly most if not all of the problem here youalso notice the fan hub itself weighs a ton thats the rest of the problem but you can't change that,So My bet is the fan blade!also on some models there is a 1/4 inch metal bracket that bolts to the corner head bolt lh front of the engine if that bracket is missing this may add to your problem.
  5. Yup its true !you can also modify the 13 knob to make 18! by breaking off the lock out tab!
  6. Highly recommended I might add! On the newer engines these have caused a lot of greif! These rarly come adjusted correctly from the factory They tend to take out the clutch brake which then wipes out the sensor on the fly wheel housing two or three times before you get all the peices . The sensor is Not a nice thing to change. Funny thing is they blame the clutch brake when the real problem is the clutch adjustment. Delete the air doins and get back to the real clutch cable!
  7. Yup and notice there all driving older reliable rigs?!!!!!!!!!!!! Hummmmmmmmmm! Whats up with that!
  8. I beleive you can buy them thru NAPA as well.
  9. >If you have one that has been on the engine for a while take it and cut it open and you will be amazed at what you find inside of it. < Amen to that! Yet Another great Mack idea done away with by the Volvo people!
  10. Good find ! I'll be watching for this too!
  11. Yup pretty much everyone does now!
  12. Hey greaser did you get this sorted out yet?
  13. We GOT a binder in the shop today one of the injector bolts fell out and flooded the muffler with fuel wonder if that will happen with the new injector cups?We got about 3 gallons of fuel out of the muffler! :)Imagine this happening to a dpf engine.
  14. Theres More to the story , But Haslers holdin out on ya!
  15. Smoking and missing ?! I would suspect a bad powerleash rocker if the engine is equiped with it!Or an injector stuck open. Just my 2 bits!
  16. We sell quite a few of these here in canada for mixers ! http://nanaimomack.com/
  17. Im guessing at 70 with 4.17 having said that. there were 2 versions a direct and an O/D you want O/D I don't remember the prefix for them ya can tell by the number!
  18. Answer to Glenns question, yup the countershaft bearings! answer to Trents question Air shift can convert easy remove the detent ball under the lid and your good to go! Most have the hollow countershaft for the mack pto but you should look for your self the case is usually stamped with a 0 or pto on the bottom that dosent always mean its there! Youll like the 12 speed with the exception of the 5 hi lo split they grind a bit! Theres only one or two guys that walk the face of the planet that can shift one with out grinding!
  19. Your friend is correct.
  20. Good trans for the most part! If you do a lot of backing up on steap grades they tend to take out the back bearings We use to replace the bearings once a year in off hyw gravel trucks as a maintanance item, takes about an hour! depending on ptos!
  21. the second stick is the deep reduction they simply put an air shift on it for certain models! That made it available in the MH when it came along!
  22. Yup no problem!Thats what this place is all about!
  23. ;No prob ,were just trin to help right .either way he'll get there!
  24. Nope ! you can't hurt the injectors unless you get really aggressive. Go thru the valve set again somthing is messed up !Follow one or both of the afore mentioned instructions to get your self back on track! If your stuck for Valve set marks on the fly wheel , the set can be done on overlap on the rest of the cyl's as I discribed earlier, in firing order . 1 5 3 6 2 4
  25. You got smoke that means ya got fuel! The valve set sounds suspect! With the lids off check for overlap (valves rocking) on # no six then set the valves on one and go thru the firng order ,what your doing is confirming compression on one with this only use the pointer on the flywheel for V/S mated cylinders below If one is on compression six will be overlaping If 5 is on compression 2 will be over laping! 1 5 3 6 2 4
