  1. Great pic Mark. I always liked the fleet that they ran. You could tell them coming at you from a good distance. Also the unforgettable American flag on the shiny reefer trailer as well.
  2. Great pics Mark! Keep 'em coming. I like the R700 Western dump truck. What is the extra piece of chrome at the base of the dog? I've only seen that on a few of the early Hayward trucks.
  3. Is the blue truck with the red tub a 700? It looks like a stout setup.
  4. I hope the driver of that KW is not claustrophobic.
  5. Great thread Mark. I hope you don't mind if I add a few pics. That Mack got a lot of coverage in Overdrive at the time both as the Phantom truck and the Moonfire movie truck. They even let some famous pinstriper have a go at it as well.
  6. Mark, that Morrissey's H model is a sweet truck. I had to google the name on the truck to see where they were based out of thinking they were long gone. To my surprise, they are still in business and I found a companion to that truck on their website gallery. They are based in Pawling, NY btw.
  7. I'm a sucker for historical stuff. A little backround on V. Ottilio & Sons. http://www.nywf64.com/legacies04.html
  8. I used to see it on a regular basis at a lot of the north Jersey shows.....Adam Metals/Bentley in Ledgewood and the Metro Jersey show in Florham Park. Not so much anymore. It was a beast of a truck and always spotless.
  9. Maybe it's an illusion but that does look long to me. Could be combination of the short-fender with battery box as opposed to the Western "step" makes it look longer.
  10. Dig, I did a quick google search for that contractor and came up empty-handed. The old phone number system would have used the first two letters of the exchange. In your case RI would stand for (RI)verside or (RI)dgewood or a host of others. There are a few resources on the web that translate that old info but I didn't find an exchange for North Jersey or New Jersey that would fit that number. Exchange info here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_exchange_names My old phone number growing up in Central New Jersey in the early '60s was MErcury 4-1966.
  11. I found some more pics of the truck when it was 2-tone silver including stages of its restoration. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2390056/1973-mack-truck/
  12. I had to do some digging to find it because I remember the ad as well from an old issue of WOT. Here it it is, not the best quality but the text is all there. The bottom got chopped but the truck was from Lerna, Illinois. It ran only ONE issue. I had never heard of a "Gold Dog Series" before.
  13. Taken yesterday at the "Pumpkin Run" at Fleming's Auto Parts in beautiful English Creek, NJ. The good and the not so good. Enjoy!
  14. OK, now I'm really confused. I have pics of it when it was owned by Peter Coletta in NJ and it says it's a '73. The Hetrick/Misterka pics I have from Macungie and Gerhart's says it's a '72. The OP says it's a '74. Beautiful truck none the less.
  15. Borrowed from the A.B. Veirs website. Lots of great old pics on there. http://abveirs.com/photos_old_photos.html
  16. Got it, thanks! http://www.terex.com/cranes/en/aboutus/LegacyBrands/Franna/index.htm Interesting concept. No swivel boom, just drive in to load and unload, therefore no outriggers.
  17. Great shots! What's up with the mini mobile cranes. I've never seen that style before.
  18. Hey Mark, thanks for the link but I left their website with bitter feelings. I should have suspected that Lynch-Gray was in the scrapping/exporting business because of the steady flow of trucks arriving at the yard. Alot of local iron there getting cut up and shipped overseas. They were in the tow business a few years back but you can see what it evolved into.
  19. Mark, the two towing outfits in Bordentown are a stone's throw from each other and very close to my house. Lynch-Gray (Yellow, RT206) and Haines (Orange, RT130). I do believe that Haines still has their huge Sterling. I have to get over there and get permission to snap some pics one day.
  20. I love the "high-mounts" with the filler panel below the cab. I guess it afforded them enough room for an underhood breather rather than an external one.
  21. Tackaberry's "Power Giant" taken at Macungie a few years back. Note the IH emblems. 2nd pic is from the same owner but these stayed north of the border.
  22. A super sweet pair that I spotted last night. It was sorta cramped with all of the cool vehicles around which made it difficult to get better pictures.
  23. Yeah, I probably should have omitted the "old" part. It seems like yesterday when they had gotten their first batch of T800's.
