  1. WOW!!! You were lucky there. I think you'll fare even better in the Mack next time something like that happens. Not that I would put that on anyone..... BTW...Nice rig! Oh, I suppose you tell everyone that asks........."Ya, I had a crappy day" LOL!
  2. Can't recall if I've pulled the sight level plug out of rear. Might have? Why would it blow it out the top of the vent plug if it had just a bit too much? Think it would be leaking at the axle long before it ever got to the vent cap?
  3. Aussie's sure do know how to make a truck LOOK like a truck don't they? LOL!
  4. I put a new pinion seal in my rear..now it does puke out the vent cap? Actually the pinion nut was loose one notch, so it leaked(cause the bearings were loose). I put a new seal and tightened it up again. No leaks there, but the vent has constant stream coming from it.
  5. It shifts nice overall, no issues there, but when hot and idling in neutral it sounds like a bunch of rocks bang'n around in it. They say with the wrong oil in it, it will not get proper lubrication. Well, I think it definitely hasn't hurt mine since it was so worn out to begin with!
  6. With all this talk about boxes, I'm starting to wonder what I put in mine like 5 yrs ago. I know I put 2 gals of Lucas additive to help with the rattl'n noise, but not sure what actual fluid I used? Might have been 75w gear lube? Can't recall now. Guess it don't really matter since I've put 20K+ miles on it with no issues(don't even really leak-just grumbles bad when hot).
  7. Ok...I know nothing, but........ Didn't the bellhousing place the starter location? So if it had a later model bell/tranny then it would be left hand? Seems that's the story I hear when guys put in 237's or such that starter is on Drivers side? So if you use the bell from 673, it would keep it on pass. side? Just think'n?
  8. Barry lists a cartridge type canister for B models on B model store parts page. 150 Dry Element Air Cleaner (Looks Like Oil Bath) $320.00 ea
  9. When I got my B, it had all bias. Turning at slow speed was TORTURE, sitting still was impossible. With my radials it will turn near lock to lock sitting still.
  10. If truck was over at 45degrees, then I would be it ran dry for a spell, then the quick shut down did not allow the turbo to cool thus possibly creating issues with dry bearings in it. It then was re-started by you and ran til the issues surfaced and completed its damage. Just a thought....
  11. Nice job. Looks like it could handle anything dropped in the bucket!
  12. Ya, I like the chrome stock pieces.......but didn't want to ask how much!! The hard part about diamond plate is keeping it looking new. After a few years in the sun mine is starting to show it's age. Even with polishing it just doesn't clean up as nice as new.
  13. I fixed up the floors in mine and had diamond plate lids made up. I have one original lid left, as I lost one on the highway so had new ones made. I think they could easily be replicated by a fab shop(or at home) if you have some basic pieces to work with....if you want originally looking ones.
  14. Yup, just get a blank screen saying "done" at bottom. Seems the link is not working properly?
  15. I got them thru a friend at Timken steel plant. Got about 6 of them and made one good one for a passenger seat in my truck. Still have the remaining pieces/parts. I'll pick thru the stuff and see if there is enough good parts for another whole seat. Most had broken seat brackets and stuff(just a little abuse from straddle truck drivers LOL), but nice cushions.
  16. I've got some Bostrom torsion seat parts if you want them. Might have enough pieces for one good seat? Next time thru, they are yours for the taking.
  17. Triplex 5 and a 3.
  18. Does it have maxi brakes? If not, no biggie. The chambers are available at most all truck shops pretty reasonable prices too. Rubber lines can be remade at those shops too, but you might think of putting plastic on it? Not period correct, but easier to put on and replace later. Do you have any truck dealers around? The parts counter should be able to help you out.
  19. Looks like a Pete type of fella. If what he drives is beside him...them it rules most of the guesses out.
  20. You don't actually move both at the same time. You move one, then the other. Now, granted someone will say you can, but usually you end up with double nothing(neutral). At least that's what happens with my Triplex.....as I've tried it a few times to see. I end up doing some fancy handwork and playing to get one back in gear so that you can get the other in gear. I made a little video showing two hand shifting. http://fords.kilonet.org/freightrain/bride1.wmv This gives ya a look see on how I do it.
  21. Do I see "maxitorque" on the side towards the rear? Can't tell, is it a two stick? Maybe a 6 spd?
  22. Awesome find! Very nice.
  23. Local dragstrip used to have pulls on other end of property(leased the property to some organization). They had big trucks a few times a year...and I was tempted to unhook the race trailer and give'r a shot. Then again....if "something" would give...how would I get all my junk home again? LOL!!! We'll stick to just "look'n good sittin' there" and leave the power struggle to the guys with real power.
  24. Oh geez........talk about screwed up LOL!! Glad it worked out in YOUR best interest. Usually it's the OTHER way around.
  25. My 673 pulls 30K around at near 65 with not much problem. Little slow on the big hills.
