  1. Might have been on the ATHS website, but someone posted a link to a place that offers needle bearing pins for springs. Suppose to be better, less chance of freezing up then just a pin and bushing.
  2. Or.....you could pull the floor panel out and look down for yourself as you push the pedal? I know, not as pleasant to look at as Nikki, but would get the job done sooner.
  3. Great idea!! Too bad I'm never home in time to sign for UPS LOL!!!
  4. Watch that sneaky Mike. If I were a bet'n man he's making a beeline for Illinois and Rob will find he's moved with in with Nikky LOL!!!
  5. Oh...don't worry Tom. I'm around, just been pretty busy and not had time to play here. one question: Did they charge Rob double price for air tickets.........since likely would take two seats?
  6. Lots of guys did this. Only problem, cab room. Not condusive to comfort, so not a real popular thing to do for a daily working truck. Personally I can pick one of these conversion very easily, as the front wheels stick out of the fenders due to the wider axle.
  7. Ohhhhhhh, man. Don't go making comparisons with Pete "gansta bling" LOL!!! Next thing we'll see is 12" sewer pipe stacks You'll have all the diehard Mack guys cringing......... (It's your truck, do as you see fit. Don't let the rib'n get to you)
  8. Had fellow in local ATHS chapter that had one. Don't know all the specifics of them and how they were done(what models available). I would bet you could probably get it for any variation, as the cab and hood are a lot bigger and have plenty room for any powerplant.
  9. They've already got bans on texting in some places. I don't "text"(don't have it on my plan), so don't have to worry. I rarely talk on phone while in car either. Just not a chatter, and usually take care of that before I go somewhere. I don't mind ear pieces, I have one but it won't work on my new phone(haven't figured it out and no instructions).
  10. But Jim.......look how easily it takes care of your Xmas present to me this year......... Please............pretty please................ Ok, seriously....... I think that version was available down under? Doesn't Darian have one like that on his dump truck? Wasn't Barry trying to work a deal to get them up here?
  11. When I bought the B, I went to Sears and bought the 3/4" socket set, and picked up the breaker bar too. I keep it in the toolbox of truck. Cheaper then most, does the job, and free replacement when broken.
  12. You have to remember...............It's all about THEM!!!! Ya, right. While driving, I tend to notice either minivans or SUV's, the women and if they are yak'n on the phone. Pretty much a very high ratio of YES's compared to No's. Very stereotypical, but it's true. I always wonder what the heck they are saying, cause the hand antics are usually very pronounced. Can't they just DRIVE!???
  13. Simply outstanding work! Looks awesome.
  14. Welcome to the forums. There has been talk before about trying to get visors made, other then the plastic "Lund" model. I'm for it. Phantom309 has built his own aluminum version and it turned out awesome. I've had the same idea, but lacked the tools to build it. Now, if I could just sweet talk Jim into making me one? LOL!! Follow this link and watch his build. The visor is a couple pages in. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?showtopic=6853&st=0
  15. Ummm, well, the paint brush anyway. That way it takes a LONGGG time to paint, thus leaving her up on the ladder longer.
  16. Rob, so nice of you to help a lady in distress LOL!! I'd offer her a pinstripe brush to get that ceiling painted correctly LMAO!!! Small, short strokes.............
  17. I've never heard anyone having problems with bigger pan? Only thing I know guys have to switch is water pump and maybe damper?
  18. Actually they were on one of the front ends I got when I bought the truck. I had a bunch of sheetmetal and before I sold the stuff I took them off and put them on my truck. Didn't think I would like them at first, but now I don't think I would like it without them LOL!! Just one of those little touches I guess? I used to see them in Whitneys too. Used to see them "jeweled" with a colored jem sticking through and then it would glow that color. Haven't seem them in years now. With a small piece of stainless you could easily make them. Roll them then bent a small tab to stick behind the headlight bezel to hold them on(like mine). Very simple.
  19. I did the bumper because originally it had a HUGE step/push bumper on it from the towing company. If I wanted to keep it in the "Brutus" mode, I could have left it on. I wanted it a bit "cooler attitude" so a buddy had that made for me. Atlanta stampings is the company he works at and he told me to draw something up and give it to him. That is what I came up with. Big enough, but not obnoxious. My first long road trip to Columbus for Expo in 2002. All original except for 5" stack on it. It was wayyyy too loud inside the cab, so I put 4" back on it. It resonated really bad, as you know how them big pipe trucks really rumble when you hear them. 2 hrs and I was fit to be tied!!! Seven years later:
  20. Neat tow truck. Looks like a NJ or the like tunnel truck? Really short wheelbase to be able to turn around in tight quarters. Looks pretty complete, and likely low mileage from just sitting around. Great to see it get worked on. Have fun and ask away. Did that come from Dennis Meehan? I thought I've seen that truck before.
  21. A Lil Wil is only like $25 at local truck stop. They are short whips on a mag base and work great, I run it on my pickup. With a decent peaked radio, it gets out wayyyy good enough.
  22. Got that right Speed!! I few hours in a B model will make you cry to get back into a late model truck LOL!!! Even with that comfy spring ride seat and radial tires..........it's bad after a long trip.
  23. Nice.....if only it was a tandem with room for a bunk!! I'm working on it! That picture sure does do the old dawg A LOT of justice LOL!!
  24. Welcome aboard Micheal. I see you've seen the Youtube videos(ya that's me in the grey flannel coat). You can drive it as fancy or as basic as you are capable of. Double clutching is the "proper" way, but floating it without the clutch(and using two hands) is also very possible and doesn't hurt a thing when done properly. It will all come with time and experience: you should have seen me TRY to drive mine when I first bought it in 2001!! It looked awfully simple to do, but it took a few years of playing around with it to get comfortable. There is LOTS of information available here, plus getting ahold of the Mack museum and getting the line sheet and book on your truck. Do some searches and you'll find lots of good reading here from guys with many, many years of experience.
  25. When I polished my shutters a few winters back, I just used store bought paint stripper and used it sparingly. Just enough to take the old paint off, but not eat into anything. Then some fine sandpaper and then Wenol or polish. They aren't "mirrors", but the look pretty good for a rusty ol truck.
