  1. Good to see a true Mack man running a dealership.
  2. Great stuff, thanks for posting. Some interesting fluctuations in the production numbers from year to year. Maybe an indication of which years UPS made purchases?
  3. I'm glad it's being preserved but would rather see it hanging on the front of a building.
  4. I hope to see it one day myself. Definitely in the top 3 of my bucket list. Double DURRR!, I missed it too.
  5. I don't remember that line from the movie. Welcome!
  6. Our M-drive is a direct with 2.64 rears and runs 65 mph at a hair over 1400 rpm, the od will have you doing that at 1100. My understanding is that the od will be used on flat ground, even when loaded, and immediately downshift at the slightest upgrade. Sounds like you'll get some impressive mpg numbers even if much of your day is spent in direct.
  7. As an O/O, I would've let it slide for the cost of repairs+ and an acknowledgement that both of them actually learned something from the experience. I doubt they could meet either requirement. For a company driver like myself, there's no negotiation. Information will be exchanged and there will be "27 8x10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence".
  8. Wow! That one picture of all the trucks you've driven almost looks like a truck show. That's cool! The F models and the Transtar are my favorites, but the IH 9900 is sharp. Was that what you drove just prior to the silver Pete? The roads up this way have been hit or miss most of the week. A few hundred feet of elevation and the pucker factor would increase four-fold. I wonder what winter will be like. Is that the ramp off 79 in the B model pic? I t looks like it could be working on site with the crane. Thanks for putting together a POTW thread. I've been jonesing over here and don't handle withdrawal very gracefully. I won't comment on the absence of Winfall wimmin, but I'm sure somebody will....
  9. Hey, we all make mistakes but...are you f******g kidding me? And then they try to talk their way out of it? I hope you can collect from USX in a timely fashion. Keep in mind that your truck is one of possibly several that were used as traffic cones by inexperienced USX drivers being taught by incompetent trainers throughout the country on that particular day. Processing may take a while.
  10. That repo work sounds like an adrenaline rush, but you might want to add a few Kevlar items to your wardrobe.
  11. The driver could dress up that Clarksville R by removing the hubcaps and lugnut covers.
  12. Thank you for not posting pictures.
  13. I see the 335 Cummins comes with a Quadbox as standard. Anyone know what the torque capacity was on those? The 335 puts out 930 ft/lb.
  14. I even get pissed when I see other people's cars get ding by some careless moron. Glad you were able to clean it up. Unfortunately, as Bob said, this is the world we live in.
  15. Nice variety. Always good to see pics I've never seen before. One of the hardest backing maneuvers for me to learn was to get the trailer square in the door with the tractor at a 45-90 degree angle, as in the Superliner photo.
  16. No Dynamat in the R's I drove, just the usual heat and noise. The air was cold and the fan worked good, but you could feel the difference in the temp as you got closer to the doors on very hot days. The defroster on the other hand.....I'd rather not talk about it.
  17. The result I got was "invalid number". I put my company's number in and it worked. Either way, that is one very old number.
  18. My former employer had a few of these Red Dot units in his R models, including the one in my avatar. The air was ice cold, my only complaint was the lack of outlets at the far ends of the dashboard. That was just part of life in an R model. Edit: I'm unable to quote or copy & paste for some reason. If interested, you can go to www.cstk.com It's listed under aftermarket units.
  19. Thanks for taking the time to post another great history lesson.
  20. Sorry to hear of your technomological woes. You should definitely become friends with Joe's computer guy. Having someone who repairs computers on the side is the only way to go. 41Chevy wrote: "You couldn't get help at Mac Donalds?" They want $15 an hour for flipping burgers. A service such as this that requires actual know-how would be cost prohibitive.
  21. Interesting sights and finds. In retrospect, I'd say that US Xpress would've been better off to just keep going.
  22. That's awesome. I used to see it when I lived in the city and didn't know until now that it was a Mack.
  23. Dammit Mark! Just when I thought I'd seen everything, you find something I haven't. The Morrissey trucks are all class, the F model in the background looks pretty sharp, too. Greenstein had a bunch of Great Dane stainless reefers. Maybe the one in the top pic was theirs.
  24. Very nice find and scan, Mark. It's a little more difficult these days to find 3 cool trucks parked in a row.
