  3. Heard story today on the Kenworth with V 12 Hall Scott in it.Hauled gas across snowqualime pass to eastern Wash.Got out of Seattle with gas in trucks gas tanks then hooked a line to fuel tank on truck.Truck burnt up early in life.Now thats what I heard from someone who would know.Bob D
  4. Should be under passanger seat or an outside tank.But!!! somebody may have removed under seat one to fit a frame mounted one on and it also may have been removed.should be a hole on right side of cab where filler spout was if it had underseat tank.Bob D

  7. Does DMD now have Cummins in both there LTL'S or do they have a third one now.one used to have 1090 HALL-SCOTT in it but there two hre both have the RED BALL CUMMINS emblem on them.Bob D
  8. Have them check to see if you have a broken head bolt.If not retorqe heads.Should be done after refit anyway.Bob D
  9. BKrois:Did you get a picture of the "L" model to the left of the B81.Also is the picture of the LJ cement mixer truck very recent .I would like to get chassis number of it if it still exsists.Bob D
  10. they might fit into a B87 front end.frame is wide enough because we had them in 34in frame rails.you wouldn't be able to mount anything on timing cover .compressor,altinater,steering pump would all have to be belt driven.we had two compressors on our trucks one driven off u joint flange at rear of flywheel but we had remote mounted auto trans.but remember these are 3300 lbs dry weight.you might have extend rad but on one of the big B87s I don't think that would look out of place.put 90 injectors in and burn tires.Bob D
  11. BKROIS First LJSW that I've seen with LJSWX fenders, headlite standtions and front bumper with soft nose.Nice bunch of pictures.Wish I could figure out how to transfer mine.Bob D
  12. img2246C is a 2948 LMSW-M soft nose.the M meaning mining but were used extensivly in logging.In 1949 they changed them to a hard nose(cast radiator) same as LT's and called themLMSW-L.L meaning logging.They had same frame as LJSWX's but 65000lb rear axles,FA600 front axle-same as LJSWX's heavier main transmisson but same 3 speed brownny aux. as LJSWX's.The engine in a LMSW-M were Mack 707 gas ,200 or 275 Cummins ,or Buda diesels.the LMSW -L had NHRBS @275 standard engine.There a lot here on west coast both in U S and B C in the logging industry.Bob D

  19. They were and option engine in LMSW-M's and LT,LTH,LTL's,B-21 fire trurks.9 built 3 with small Hall -Scotts and 6 with 400 series 1091s also first series B-70s for US Navy.Rad was ahead of fenders. Bob D
  20. Can'nt figure out why manufactories put big windshields in trucks so people can put viser on and cover up 40 to 50 percent visabilaty.Bob D

  22. vinny: nope its a duplex with 3 speed brownny.so thats 5x2x3=30 speeds forward.kind of supperseeds 18 speed by12.not bad for us old timers that knew how eh.Bob D
  23. Hall-Scott had the most powerful one in the 400 series.1090 cid @ 300hp.deffitanly hard on go go juice.Smoth running TOHC .Lots used by military,logging,boat builders,fire trucks. Bob D
  24. should only be one wire to it from ing key.is it 12 or 24volt solinoid and is it in manual or auto .thumb screw in front of solinoid.

Andy:The tag I have off the one I took engine and trans out of is EHX 1 D 9434.Our musium here has a EH 1 D also that I will get number for you .Cowl,rad shell ,hood,side curtains and running gear are all thats left Mack rest is made by Pacific Truck & Trailer after rest either rusted out or got smashed.Will send pictures when I figure out how.Bob D
