We got some plants, a bottle of Lucas because the front hub on the furniture truck was just a tad low, a bottle of power steering fluid because the reservoir on the GMC was just a tad low, a few bags of rocks for the driveway so I can back the GMC in beside the furniture truck... don't remember what else, I'll see if I can find the receipt and get back to you...

Did you remember to get me that bottle at aspirin, the left-handed philips screwdriver, a pack of socks and the rubber chicken that I asked for?

Oh yeah, got all that. It was at the top of the list. I'll bring it to Macungie.

Foam hotdog roller works better than comes to mind for something like that.  Very close to as if it was sprayed.

Funny thing was the paint can said "for best results do not use a roller". I don't know why, but that's what it said.

I didn't even ask paint guy up the road about just painting the hood. He's the guy that was going to paint the big green International that runs now for $10,000 and then changed his mind. I'm sure he would have wanted me to take the hood off and take it to him, and I couldn't have done that by myself anyway. If I had known then what I knows now I would have done like mower man suggested and bought a cheap spray gun to start with.

I polished a little spot on a fuel tank, several times actually, and I decided to ask truck washer guy up the road how much he would charge me to polish 2 tanks and 2 wheels. He said "send me a picture", so I did, and he gave me a price of $550. To polish 2 tanks and 2 wheels. I bought a brand new tank for the big green International that runs now for I believe somewhere between 6 and $700. So I couldn't see paying truck washer guy $550 to polish 2 tanks and 2 wheels.

So I said thanks, but no thanks. I'll have to do them myself too. By hand, in the driveway, like everything else. I have the one looking pretty decent now but I've gone over it about 10 times. Haven't started on the driver's side yet.

$10,000

Holy Chit. Just for paint? He's out of his mind. I can sand a truck with a DA, mask everything, and spray it any tractor paint color and have it cost me maybe 300 bucks. I should start something like Earl Shibe. I'll paint any truck for $1299,95

yeah body and paint these days are crazy money,,,,im glad im able to do all that myself also,,,bob

I miss the days when I could buy Mack Standard Red through the Mack parts department for 30 bucks a gallon. I'd buy it by the case. I think it was 4 gallons to the case. It was made by Kirker in Jersey.

I wonder how many trucks I'd have to paint without wearing a mask while chain-smoking Camels before I could do the Earl Shibe voice

I get the Kirker Mack red single stage polyurethane from TP tools. It's around a hundred bucks.

Xorust with a foam hotdog roller comes out better than you'd think it would. It's not like a nice spray job, but I've done it to a couple dump bodies. They came out presentable.  Around here, there was an auto refinisher supply place. They could make you a spray (can) of whatever color. Maybe a cheap Harbor Freight HVLP is the way for you to go on this one.

You know something, I can't get used to any of those gravity feed things with the cup on the top. Every time I use one of them the paint ends up looking kinda like I sprayed it dry.

I still like the old school Binks #7 or Sharpe 775. Now if I only had a good one.

The Sharpe was about 100 brand new around the same time Mack Red was 30. Girls had big hair then and were way hotter too
