mack31 Posted October 15, 2023 Share Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) Trying to get our 1930 BC running. It was cranking earlier but now we have nothing at all not even a click. I just replaced the battery today with a heavy duty because the old battery was done. It is a 12volt negative ground system. Could it be the ignition coil? Ok I will trace that. Thank you We have a distributor and magneto as well as a generator. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Brocky Posted October 16, 2023 Share Posted October 16, 2023 As D-Day said check all your wire connections from the battery to the starter and the small wires that lead to the ignition switch and starter switch and back to the engagement solenoid on the starter.. mattb73lt Posted October 16, 2023 Share Posted October 16, 2023 I could be way off here, so please disregard if so. I was under the assumption that early Mack’s were of the 6 volt variety. This comes from fire trucks I’ve worked on. The earliest being a 1934 BG. If so, 6 volt parts don’t always do well getting 12. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Freightrain Posted October 23, 2023 Share Posted October 23, 2023 Time to bypass everything and use jumper cables from a battery to the starter. That would eliminate all connections.
