I bought more self tapping screws at the hardware store but I'm having better luck with just drilling the holes first then putting the screws in. I'm drilling the holes slightly smaller than the drill bit part on the screws. I have a few more braces to go to put double screws in, but I don't want to over exert myself. mowerman Posted April 3 Author Share Posted April 3 Well, I can’t see the smokestack from the driver seat, but it was definitely nothing coming out of the feed line before I started to change the lines. I wind up blowing air into the fuel tank and then breaking it loose right at the pump until it starts running out after the new lines waited a week and it still would not start, but I shut ether in it and that did it but clearly it’s still losing somewhere and the plunger leaks so bad that I don’t think it will work at all once I unwind the wingnut and pull it out. Apparently a company in Palm Beach rebuild them. They want $580 to rebuild mine. have you considered just removing the hand pump ; replace with the cap . new brass washer and proper cap will also eliminate the question of loosing prime. hand pump not a needed option. fortunately I don't get involved with purchases much any more, prices I hear for things unbelievable. 580 for switch rebuild???
