Ram, Dodge and Chrysler set to come under Chinese ownership

A merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and France’s PSA Group (Peugeott/Citroen/Opel) now seems highly likely.

Chinese government-owned and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) led Dongfeng, which now is Volvo Group’s largest shareholder, is also a principal stakeholder in PSA Group.

Thus, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler will come under Chinese control.

IIRC Dongfeng is a minority shareholder and while they might get a board seat, they won't get control. And being the world's most populous country and 2nd biggest economy, the Chinese could easily buy outright several undervalued auto makers if they wanted to.

Maybe not so fast, Trump Administration is going to look into this. Chrysler was given to Fiat so this could happen? Sell Fiat to who ever and let Chrysler be Chrysler. Today Chrysler does not need Fiat or PSA.

I'll agree with that, many of the suppliers like Bosch make their products available to everyone and are used by just about everyone. Chrysler still has some engines of it's own and a few contemporary platforms and might be profitable in today's North American market, but if the market turned back to cars they'd be in trouble.

Seems Chrysler is catering to a limited market in some areas. 1500 + h.p. Challenger Drag Pack  running sub 7 second quarters, the new Ram R/T Redeye 800h.p. pick up and the 750 h.p. Jeep Redeye SUV. First production models at SEMA.

It has been about 50% China since 2017. As of Friday I think it was China bought out everyone to be sole owner.

You sure about that?  I think the only Chinese stake is  through a small piece that Donfeng holds in Peugeot which is  50% owner and Fiat is the other 50%.
