Think I saw something the other day about this, maybe on Facebook?   Had some fighters sitting on the floor and looking in decent shape(for being underwater for a long time).

Picture of plane I saw was I believe an SBD ( Dauntless).  I guess at that depth there is very little oxygen in water and that is why they don't completely deteriorate?

SBD's  Dauntless and F4F Wildcats.  VF-31 badge on one.  Paul

Not trying to hijack the thread but did you see this Paul? I’m guessing most of you east coasters did. I’m surprised they don’t try and preserve what’s left in stead of letting it get buried over and over again

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

When that grounded in the mid 1700's the locals would have taken everything of value from planks to cut nails. what was left was probably just whats there now.  Cools a hell though.  When I was a kid in Oyster Bay after a Nor Easter we would see the pair of sunken WWI German subs that were used as a break water for the old ferry  from Bayville to Stanford Ct. Long Island was lousy with wrecks from the Cruiser San Diego, the Andrea Doria and even a Texas Tower Early Warning Radar unit.
