What I found amazing is the condition of both the ship and the aircraft around it. Also how CNN and MSNBC turned the story into how Mr Allen should pay a fair share of taxes and help the minorities instead of wasting his money on this. Cools a hell though. When I was a kid in Oyster Bay after a Nor Easter we would see the pair of sunken WWI German subs that were used as a break water for the old ferry from Bayville to Stanford Ct. Popular Post Rob Posted March 11, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted March 11, 2018 The neighbor across the alley from where I grew up in St. Louis was on the USS Lexington, (CV-2) at the battle of the Coral Sea. He told me he is one of the men shuttling down the life ropes in the famous photo but I cannot remember which one he is. He is gone now. I sailed three cruises on the USS Coral Sea, (CV-43) named after this battle, during my time in the Navy attached to VAW-127 which was a radar early warning squadron.
