Merry Christmas and or, Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas Doug...

Some people get touchy about Happy Holiday and Xmas.

"Holiday" originated from "HOLY day" and "X" is the greek symbol for "Christ". So technically all mean the same thing. But I prefer Merry Christmas.

Doug - BTW I am offended at the ornament in the center of the pic. The Mack Christmas ball should be front and center and the KW...well it is Christmas so you can just move it to the back of the tree! :)

I wish you all Merry Christmas!

As for myself I'll get only the holidays these will start from next Sunday about New Year.

We Russians selebrate Christmas on January 7.

Local church calender doesn't count (counted) additional each 4 year's day, so the dates are set off.

But it's good for me by the other side - the holliday's duration includes Jan 7&8 - whole 10 free days and nights!

Merry Christmas! With that ratio of Mack:KW ornaments, your tree should last a long time.

Are you saying the Church calender does not recognize the "leap year" as we do in America?

I don't know what do they do now.

Shure they add the day now, the difference is constant.

Originally before 1917 all the calendar didn't count.

After the revolution of 1917 Lenin provided a lot of reforms including the set of the calendar onto the international standard.

The date of Socialist Revolution was 25th of October but the Holiday was on 7th November.

Another reform was a separation of the Church from the State.

The Church prefered to keep "the old style" calendar so all the christian dates differed.

On this way we have one more joky holiday "Old New Year" - 13th of January - the New Year date by "the old style".

I decided to take a trip for Christmas....brought the snow with me. Christmas is supposed to be white.

I couldn't believe how many cars & pickup trucks there were in the ditches along the way, though. Roads weren't all THAT bad!

Anyway, I saw this sign on the way home....

When approaching a 4-way stop, the vehicle with the biggest tires has the right of way!
