  1. The only Mack that sold was the B-75, it sold for $15000.00 (from what I remember). The red B bid up to $15250.00 but didn't sell. The gray B bid up to $7250.00 but didn't sell. The Superliner bid up to $10000.00 but didn't sell. My friend asked what it would take to buy the Superliner and was quoted $11500.00 There were quite a few good deals there if you knew what you were buying. The trucks bid up higher than what I ever thought they would, and they didn't let them go. I wish them luck. The auction service wasn't being praised by many of the attendees, the most common remarks I heard was "they won't be selling any of my stuff".
  2. The Antique Truck Club of America, Central Pennsylvania and Greater Lehigh Chapters are having an Antique and Classic Truck Show to celebrate the Grand Opening of the New Mack Customer Center. The Mack Customer Center is the former Engineering & Test Center, it will now house the Mack Trucks Historical Museum, offices for the Macungie Assembly Facility, North American Sales, Specialty Vehicle Engineering and the Truck Modification area. It is a beautiful facility for a show and is becoming even more visitor friendly. Please join us for this historic event. Attached is the leaflet for the show, if you have any questions please ask. Thanks, Doug
  3. It was great to meet both of you. Every year I think back at who I got to talk to, spend time with or meet, this year was a busy one! It was a great day!
  4. I looked around on his site and found the photos of the B-81 that Mike restored for his customer to use for specialized heavy hauling. He also restored a DM-600 and an RM for the same company. B-81 DM-600 & RM
  5. If you knew the whole story you wouldn't be so critical. The MH daycab shells were sitting around his shop for years. What can you do with an MH daycab shell? The friend owned the RV that got banged up and the OEM camper parts were no longer available and made the RV a useless piece of junk. Mike took what he had laying around and was able to put the thing back together. All of the work was done with wreck parts that he had laying around. The Vulva hood is hard to look at but he didn't have any Mack hoods complete with lighting and grille that he wanted to cut apart to make work on this thing (Mack parts sell, Vulva parts don't). If you get past the looks and think about the fabrication and work done to make this thing a useable piece for very little money. Mike is the kind of guy that builds what he needs rather than going to the bank. It shows with all of his equipment, trucks, grader, race cars, etc. Grim's is a very good shop that does very nice work. No return trips for corrections, done right the first time.
  6. The plan is to have everything started by 6:00pm. We will start setting up earlier, cooking and talking about what else, Mack. Leftovers? Last year we went through 2000 clams, 25 lb of shrimp and 140 burgers and dogs. We adjusted the quantity for this year and hope to have enough. The best bet would be to check with me on Saturday. Doug
  7. I just dropped off my pick-up with some of the stuff for the Mack Brothers Clam Bake and it looks pretty good around the lot. It is supposed to stop raining in the morning and a breeze should help dry things up. See you there. Doug
  8. We should have everything covered as far as food, drink and paper products go. We can always use a hand doing things before, during and after, the best thing to do is just introduce yourself and dig in. Thanks for the offer and we look forward to seeing you at the mack Brothers Clam Bake. Doug
  9. If you are going to be present at Gerharts for the All-Mack Meet on Friday, the Antique Truck Club of America will hold the 2010 re-enactment of the Mack Brothers Clam Bake. Obsession will be playing on the stage/trailer as we enjoy clams, shrimp, burgers and dogs. A large selection of door-prizes will be available, last year we had some very special Mack Trucks items. This year there is more of the same.
  10. The Mack Trucks Archives are housed at The Mack Trucks Historical Museum in Allentown, PA. They are undergoing a move to the New Mack Customer Center at this time and I am not sure what will change with the phone numbers. The are open 10-4 MWF, they are not taking visitors at this point as the bulk of the records and all of the trucks have been moved. The Mack Trucks Historical Museum Don Schumaker, Curator 997 Postal Road Allentown, PA 18103 Telephone: 610-266-6767 Fax: 610-266-6823
  11. The Mack Museum can help with your truck history. It may take a little longer at this point as they are in the middle of a relocation. Doug
  12. My question is, Did the tire shop guys actually notice that the two vintage Mack Trucks were there or did you have to draw it to their attention?
  13. Clariben was probably the best known supplier of aftermarket conversion hoods. This is the link to the brochure I posted some time ago. Cut and paste this to the address bar. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?app=tutorials&article=8
  14. Barry, We are certainly interested in the story on your show. Please forwarded it to the Office address. If you have it on e-mail format, e-mail it to me and I will see that it gets to the proper place. Rob, Yes you get three (3) issues so you can share them with people in your area in order to get enough locals interested enough to support your effort to start a chapter. From what I recall about your chapter starting efforts, you did not have enough people to meet the requirements for a chapter. I amd sure with time you can stir enough interest or the ATCA can work with you on this requirement. I am and was not part of the chapter development committee, but I remember overhearing the discussions. Thanks for your effort and bear with the ATCA as we all undergo these interesting times. 16390 Since you have joined, I think it was in May, there has only been one issue mailed. It was the June-July issue and it was delayed due to lack of material. Please message me with your info so I can double check your membership and make sure you get up to date. Due to the postal service your June-July issue may still arrive anytime. Doug
  15. There was a delay in the printing due to a lack of material suitable for printing. The ATCA is a club run by its members, if members do not submit stories for the Double Clutch then there is no sense in publishing a 10 page magazine. This time it was held back until some info came in. There are some good stories in the June-July issue, it is a good issue. Take the time to write down some info about a truck or event you share withe others in person, it would look good in print.
  16. I was able to stop by and watch the removal of the Bulldog sign and get some pictures. The street name signs that marked all of the entryways and roads on the property were removed as well. The Bulldog will be relocated to another Mack facility in the Lehigh Valley. At least that is the plan for now.
  17. I was there, I got photos of the removal. The good thing is, the dog will be relocated to a Mack facility in the Lehigh Valley. They are not sure which one, but at least it was not smashed into a dumpster. Doug
  18. It was there, I don't know what may have happened to it. It was a spec sheet for an H-67T as someone had requested.
  19. Jones Performance products are high quality parts. We have used them often on all kinds of trucks. The Superliner hood that Jones makes I believe has the rear structure moved forward so you can cut out for dual air cleaners without having to rework the structure. I sold one to a friend a few years ago who is all Mack, he put it on one of his wreckers that blew a tire, he was thrilled with it and has bought several more since.
  20. I took them around the ATCA National Meet on Saturday to get photos of the Mack Trucks that built America. I was told that barring any breaking news, the story would air on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Then I thought about it, this guy worked for the media, can I believe anything he says?
  21. Thanks to everyone for coming out to this years show at Macungie Memorial Park. We had fantastic weather, beautiful trucks and wonderful people which made for another one for the history books. If you were able to attend the Family Reunion you should not have been disappointed. The fellowship, food and door prizes will not soon be forgotten. Thanks to all of those who were able to lend a hand, if you weren't, please make plans to help out next year. The Directors Choice truck is the Ford TT with the Studebaker trailer. Doug
  22. I posted the Clariben Brochure in the Wiki pages for everyone to see. Check it out, it shows the hoods that they build for all of the models. These were essentially replacement aftemarket tilt hoods to replace the butterfly hood OEM set-up. The tilt hood made for easier servicing.
  23. Hey, my neighbor has one of those. You should see some of the Herefords he knocks up!
  24. Everyone should be coming to the Antique Truck club of America National Meet in Macungie. I have heard a few excuses but only one of them was really acceptable. We'll be laying out the show field and the flea market on Wednesday in preparation for everone to set up on Thursday afternoon. The Central PA chapter met today and stuffed the registration envelopes. We also went over the food order for the ATCA Family Reunion on Friday Evening. We hope to have enough, about 300 dogs and burgers, 60 pounds of shrimp, 4000 clams and enough drink to fill a pool. If you haven't signed up, there is still a little time to do so, refer to your Double Clutch for the contact info. The question should be "Who isn't going to the ATCA National Meet in Macungie?" See you there you "Truckin' Nuts" Doug
