  1. I know very little about trannys (or any thing else) but does your 9 speed have an overdrive? My RTX11609B in my MH has a .73 OD. Would one of those help?
  2. I do not know about all of their trucks but I think most were bought already restored. I was told they have many farm tractors sitting in those trailers in the back waiting to be restored.
  3. Other Dog, I forgot about you being there and did not see you as far as I know. I was the organizer for the Bash this year and we were disappointed with the truck and spectator turn out. There were intermittent rain showers that may have held off a few people and I know it stopped one man from bringing his Autocar. That hot rod truck had a White 9000 cab on it. The owner was a very interesting person to talk to. He said it cruises real good at about 80 MPH. It had air ride on the front and back. When the bags are aired up it has about 3 and 1/2 inches of clearance in the front where he built a skid under the frame rail and had about 4 and 1/2 inches clearance in the back. Thanks for posting the pictures-I only took a couple. EDIT: That Brockway was placed in the museum early last week. The Abilene company workers did the restoration on it.
  4. The Mack museum is your best friend. Your truck may have a wiring diagram on the inside of your electrial breaker cover, at least my 89 MH does. The museum does not charge but you should make a donation to them.
  5. I will look for you on Saturday. I will be wearing a Classic White Truck Group cap and shirt but so will many other members probably. I am glad you added about the BMT shirt otherwise you would look just like most others there. There will be a $5 admission wihich gets you into the museum and truck show. The truck show will be behind the museum and you must go past all those beautiful farm tractors so there will probably be some delay. LOL
  6. Here is a link to the Va. Transportation Museum Rail section. http://vmt.org/collections/rail.html
  7. Here is beautiful 611 at her new home in the VA Transportation Museum.
  8. The driver of the SUV is an ass hole. There appeared to be no reason he could not come in behind the car-other than his ego or "me first" mentality which is so common on the road these days. I think it would have been fitting for the driver of the SUV to have wrecked or damaged his vehicle.
  9. My performance chart for my 89 E6 300 (4 valve) shows maximum economy at between 1400 and 1500 RPM but I do not know how similar your engine performance might be.
  10. Here is what New Jersey says about CDL: Exemptions The following do not need a CDL for their purpose: Taxi drivers (carrying less than eight passengers) and ride-sharing van drivers Firefighters Operators of rescue or first-aid squad vehicles Farmers hauling their own products and equipment within 150 miles of their farms Non-civilian operators of military equipment Operators of construction equipment not designed for operation on public roads Operators of recreational vehicles, provided the vehicle is being operated only for personal use Now the question would be if you use your truck for personal use is it considered a recreational vehicle? Here is the link: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Commercial/Getting.htm
  11. I recommend that you go to the Delaware internet web site and search for your answers. The person at the DMV may know less than you do about your requirements. Search for "CDL exempt" and see what you find.
  12. You can get one made in Lancaster, PA at Powl's shop. 717-898-2552 They are located at 2340 Dairy Rd. They repaired my MH speedo cable for me and I found that speedo cable shops are few and far between. You can send your old one to them. I drove up to them and about 30 minutes later I was on the road. Fred
  13. The Classic White Truck Group will hold it's annual event on Labor Day weekend in the Richmond, VA area. On Friday, Aug 31st, we will travel to see P.L. Duncan's collection and on Sept 1st we will have our truck show at Keystone Tractor Works off of I 95 at exit 53. On Friday evening we will have our dinner and a program at the Holiday Inn at exit 69. Edgar Browning will be at the truck show on Saturday selling his latest book, "Road Building Construction Equipment at Work"- "A pictorial history of turnpike and highway construction in the State of Maine". There are pictures of lots of Macks in the book. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Fred Info Letter for 2012 Bash.pdf 2012 Bash Flyer.pdf 2012 Bash Registration.pdf
  14. Other dog, you were a couple weeks too early. We are having our Classic White Truck Show there on Sept. 1st (Labor Day weekend) and you can get into the Museum and truck show for $5. Mike, that is the truck from L & H. The owner of the Museum (and Abilene Trucking) paid $53, 000 for the Mack. He bought 3 trucks that day. Fred
  15. I use IE 8 with Vista Home with no problems on my laptop. My desktop uses IE 8 with XP and no problems. Have you kept updates current? IE 9 is out now so there may not be updates anymore.
  16. Pete, I had a speedometer cable repaired yesterday in Lancaster, PA at Powl's shop. Cable repair shops are few and far between.
  17. You might go to Tractor Supply or someplace that sells Green Magazine and compare it to what is in there.
  18. I like your truck. How is it speced? Thanks, Fred
  19. Did anyone get a picture of the second MH which was outisde the fence? I will probably have to wait until Showtime comes out.
  20. Tom, I did not see where any one answered your question. It was the ATHS national show and was held at the Big E in West Springfield, MA. Probably not far from you and it ran from Thursday 5/31 through Sat June 2nd. Fred
  21. Doug, that is a very nice looking MH. Fred
  22. Ben, since you live in PA and Rob lives In IL what he finds out may or may not be correct for you. You should go to your state vehicle website and find out what is appropriate for you. Fred
  23. Here in VA weight has no bearing on your commercial/non-commercial classification. It is strictly if you are using the vehicle for commercial use or not. I can plate my MH for non-commercail use and haul 60K if i wish (never will) without being commercial and do NOT need a CDL. Being commercial or not is a large and costly factor. Fred
  24. My guess would be that it all depends on whether this is commercial or not.
  25. I am on my second 3.7 litre container of Tal-Strip II made by Mar-Hyde. It sells for about $60 per container but is good stuff. When you get down to 50 year old red lead based primer it is tough to get off and will take at least 2 applications. It works best if you assist with a putty knife or some kind of abrasive pad. It has a picture of a big Air Force plane on the container. I hear they make a Tal-Strip I also but that II is the better one. You do not need to use a respirator but it should be used outdoors or with plenty of ventilation and you MUST use gloves or you will lose skin. I know that for a fact.
