I worked for a ranch years ago that had a bunch of those 2 1/2 ton chevys and I loved the one with the 366. It had more power than the other bigger engines and did a dang good job of hauling 2200gal of water 2x a day to the cattle.

Plus don't forget all the full time jobs that were lost when obummer care got forced into us and was no where near the cost they said it would be. My deductible quadrupled this year.

Government should not decide who goes bankrupt and who does not on the taxpayers dime. Isn't Michigan all but bankrupt? I saw a doc on Detroit where miles and miles of neighborhoods are abandoned, the city cannot afford the bare necessities. The fire dept doesn't go to fires in the abandoned neighborhoods and adopted a let it burn policy unless people or property that poeple are living in are endangered. Flint can't afford to fix their water problem. I wouldn't call the bail out a success.

It's funny how the two boneheads who decided to close gwb allegedly on their own (I believe christy gave the order and hope he's convicted as well) get charged and convicted of a crime they did commit while Hillary gets away with perjury and scandal after scandal. Remember she told us she turned ALL her emails over but today heard on the news that there are new ones being found in the 650000 they are going through. She lied about a terrorist attack and let 4 Americans get murdered so her party could win an election then told us what difference does it make. She got caught red handed rigging the election so Bernie had no chance, the DOJ got caught red handed tipping her off about the investigation that was coming down the pike. And the list goes on and on and on. Like Paul said, do you want this crook picking our Supreme Court justices? I sure as hell don't. Do you think she'd ever have to face the consequences for all her bs if she becomes president? I don't. In my opinion this election is a pivotal one in US history. There are two totally different paths here. One is going to take a hell of a lot of work, but will set us on the right path as a nation ie cut government spending, hopefully cut some of the bs regulations that are crippling small businesses, repeal Obummercare which by all accounts is not working (AZ insurance premiums going up 116% next year). The other path is 8 more years of out of control spending, terrorist emboldened even more since we can't call them that, billions more given away to countries who hate us and illegals instead of schools or the VA or infrastructure. More racial divide since the dems always preaching to everyone except whites that they are victims and whites should pay. The dems also want to take your money and give it to people too lazy to earn a living for themselves, people who have been told that welfare IS a career option if you vote democrat. Make good choices people.

You're right but think of all the half ton trucks, smaller suvs and jeeps that people could pick up cheap and put that engine in it and get as good or better mileage than most newer vehicles. I'd do it if the engine was reasonably priced. I still have thoughts of buying a mechanical 6bt for my Ford when the 460 dies and transplanting it in there.

I remember when I lived in Boise here was a huge fight between taxpayers and local government over illegal (seasonal vegetable pickers) aliens only summer school. The gall of these politicians, expecting taxpayers to basically fund a border jumpers daycare.

Never have understood why we don't have diesels in more vehicles if fuel mileage is truly what the EPA and car manufacturers want.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and speculate based on my experiences here with our reservations. Anything is good as long as the tribe gets enough money. A lot of times in my dealing the tribes want far more than something is worth and that chases business away or they will flip onto the other side and protest and raise hell. Not much different than the nimbys (not in my back yard) found off the Rez. But a plot to secretly poison the river? Come on get real. Pipelines go under neath rivers in Montana and by all accounts we have some of if not the most pristine water in the lower 48.

I always ask die hard dems when they tell me the government should run healthcare or anything else for that matter, what has or does the government run well and efficiently? Nothing is the true answer. They lose money on nearly everything they run heck they went broke selling booze and hookers in Nevada when the irs took over that brothel!

Out VA system is shameful. I never understood why it couldn't be like insurance? Go to a doctor of your choice show you card and get taken care of rather an go to a place running a skeleton crew with long wait times just to have them refer you to someone else. Been through this rodeo a few times with my grandpa.

I have rode with a guy on many road trips in his '07 dodge with a Cummings in it. Remove all the the DPF and EGR and put an edge attitude tuner in it and viola over 20mpg consistently instead of 14. Like you said the better fuel economy never seems to make it into the good for the earth argument.

No thanks, I think a lot of these nanny devices being invented and implemented on trucks is due to hiring either newbies with little to no training and throwing them in a truck and hiring incompetent drivers. I would much rather see more money put into properly training drivers. There's still going to be a learning curve but a driver who's spent many hours with a competent driver trainer who doesn't just pass you for his own gain will put far more safe drivers on the road rather than throw bad or inexperienced drivers behind the wheel with nanny gadgets.

It is competitive grayhair but here's also a ton of politics and lobbying going on too. Once OPEC got tired of us drilling and importing less they flood our markets with oil (our government lets them do it) and suddenly it's not profitable to drill anymore. That's why the Bakken boom died so quickly.
