  1. Sounds like you’re having fun learning to drive that truck. Looks like a lot of fun.
  2. I won’t say I know you well but what I do know is you love custom old iron with big horsepower from the pics you’ve shared of some of your cars. If your goal is to spend all of juniors inheritance why not go big and build a custom older truck? Kind of like a glider but with every bell and whistle you want? Pick your favorite truck, add your favorite big bore that’s been warmed up of course and as Bob says have a ball with it while turning heads. Just my two cents.
  3. 2014 Coronado 122sd. I think part of the problem is it’s specd with a 10 speed and fairly tall gears. 1340 or so rpm at 60 in 10th. It doesn’t pull very good at that rpm, constantly down shifting even at the sight of a hill. If it’s not completely flat with no crosswinds or headwinds it’ll hold 60 mph. If there is the slightest hill or wind you’re done. That’s where I think an 18 speed would shine. I think a 250 rpm split would make a world of difference instead of the 500 rpm split of a 10 speed.
  4. Mostly oil field work. 350-400 miles a day. 2-4 hours of running the pto. 11 axle A train with dd15, 10sp and 3.73 rears. Never have been able to find a spot (rpm) where that Detroit will really pull. I used to have the exact same truck except with a c15 and it would walk all over this dd15. Rarely had to shift out of 10th with the cat, the Detroit I’m rowing through gears 7,8,9,10 continuously. Hell I get passed like I’m standing still all the time by hoards of governed fleet trucks all the time. I use about 2.5 gallons of def a day. Not too bad on regens but I doubt I go a month without dealing with a dummy light coming on that will eventually derate me if I don’t stop and get someone with a computer to clear it. Most times when I asked what’s wrong I’m told nothings wrong the computer just saw something it didn’t like.
  5. How bad is the DD13 mileage? I have not been impressed with the mileage out of the DD15 I drive. 3.89-4.2 mpg is it. I suspect part of that problem might be because it’s poorly spec’d for the job it does. Not impressed at all with it in the power department either.
  6. If it’s leaking that fast you should be able to easily hear it and locate it with someone else applying the brakes while it’s chocked.
  7. I saw a grey machine OD that looked identical (except in color) to the green machine you took pics of and it was grinding asphalt before they widened the highway. Maybe that machine is mixing/grinding that stuff being spread into the ground? Nice Kubota by the way.
  8. It’s always nice to see parts for sale instead of getting scrapped. I am far from an expert but I can tell you right now that you want more for a handful of parts than entire trucks go for. I wish you the best of luck.
  9. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3013230/death-chinese-businessman-who-raped-25-young-girls China has this right. You’re caught red handed doing unspeakable crimes you die. No if ands or buts. No get out of jail free because you have money, influence or your parents are famous and or wealthy.
  10. If it’s detroit powered that would be icing on the cake 😁
  11. Very cool pics Vlad. I would love to travel more and to see history up close like you are.
  12. Fair enough. I was truly surprised to hear that. Growing up in NW Montana all I ever saw were Pete’s and KW’s log haulers. Every great once in awhile I’d see an International so in my small part of the world Pete’s and KW’s were and are very popular. Here in eastern Montana people either have a nice long hood Pete or buy the cheapest used fleet truck they can find. It’s one extreme or the other it seems.
  13. How is paccar coming off poorly in the states? Is it not one of or the most successful truck manufacturers here? I’m not trying to stir any pots, I’ve never got the impression that paccar comes off poorly.

  15. The grader I saw was new enough that I figured it was new so I was wondering why they would buy champion out, kill it then quit making graders then jump back in but they didn’t. https://www.volvoce.com/global/en/product-archive/motor-graders/volvo/
  16. Some real clean trucks in this video. Thanks for sharing.
  17. So how much time passed between the time Volvo bailed on champion and then dove back in? Just went through construction yesterday and there was brand new leased Volvo equipment in the job including a grader. Doesn’t make much sense like you said to buy a great selling brand just to bail out then go right back into it.
  18. If you can find a puller that will work try heating up the pitman arm before pulling on it.
  19. It’s on backwards, but as far as being better on pavement I have no clue which is normal I guess.
  20. Probably my favorite pickup of all time. I always wanted to put a 12 valve Cummins in one. Beautiful truck.
  21. I have been told that having the adjustable regulator in the cab is what is illegal because you could fiddle with it going across the scale. Most of the trucks I have drove with tags were set at 60 psi but not all. It takes a little trial and error until we get a new truck dialed in to the tag pressure. Obviously we try to run the least amount of pressure (carry the least amount we legally can with out affecting our max payload) as possible so the front end doesn’t push or under steer as much.
  22. Cool pics. I like the Jeep with the bulldog on the brush guard
  23. $2500 cash back for buying a $100,000 plus piece of equipment that is defective?! Doesn’t sound like a good deal to me.
