2012 Talbert 55 ton hrgn ngb 18" deck height at 6" road clearance, 26' deck, triaxle 4th flip capable,aluminum wheels,apitong floor -
The long wheelbase isn't so much fun in the northeast, old streets and highways made from oxen trails. There are some I-95 ramps in Maine I can't use when I'm a little over legal length, 82', can't make the turns. Then you have the wonderfull roads across Maine NH Vermont,Pa. country side, and citys like Boston,NY. Mountian top wind tower projects are kinda ruff with the long trucks too. My new truck is a little shorter, such a pleasure to drive around here. Gettin older, big sleepers, shorter turning radius, the next one is a new KW T800 with a 72" sleeper,600 Cummins unless someone comes up with something better by then.

Not to me mean or anything, but some of those guys, maybe all of those guys out there with 350's or 3500's up to 5500's now pullung trailers with smaller backhoes or tractor are over weight and should have a cdl, I don't understand why they don't get bothered. The worste is the 45' motor home with the 40 foot enclosed, car, lawn furniture 4 wheeler, barbecue, satelite, helicopter, motorcycle trailer on behind. Maine is full of those in the summer. You can go to the dealer, jump out of your Ford Focus and take off, no special test or licence.

A friend of mine owns a hotel in Bar Harbor, he's up in years, he mows all the lawns, does laundry, cleans rooms, takes care of customers, does repairs, I asked him one day when he was on his riding mower and his son was in the house, why don't you let your son cut the grass or weed wack, he said if the goverment caught his son using any kind of power tool he would pay a huge fine. Those two boys will be leaps and bounds ahead of 99% of the kids in this country. Good for them.

Steinbauer Power Box
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I assume you have a 15ltr Cat, 98 Pete and a Cat with 13 or 18 46 rears and high 3's low 4's gears is a dream machine, a box would just be icing on the cake. Wish I never sold my Pete. I like how the Mack drives, it's sleeper is very comfortable compared to the Pete, she's rugged, the set back axle makes it nice, but the power, ugg, the dog is on the hood for a new reason these days. I have to do something about this. -
More lines and arrows then John Madden, funny stuff!!

WANT TO BUY Looking for a triaxle 55 ton rgn lowboy 25'+ deck
lucerne tractor replied to lucerne tractor's topic in Misc. Wanted
Well I bought the Talbert 55 ton. Leaving the 25th Sunday, stay over in Vermont, pick it up in South Royalton and come back Monday. I think I'll go out route 2 Tims country, Coventry Vt. and come back home up the coast route 95, they have a Popeys Fried chicken in Kennybunk I like to hit when I'm passing that way. Crazy to pay tolls for the axles but the chicken is worth it and I'll get home easier, cruz controll. -
I found it, cut and paste. Don't take the . after aventure

These old pictures are great, even more so when there is something to learn and there is someone belonging to them. Pretty cool history.Taking my mayden voyage tomorrow to South Royalton Vt. to pick up my trailer at Luckys. I might take Rt 2 and that should take me through your neck of the woods Tim, Coventry Vt. Might take 2 there and 95 home, there is a Popeys fried chicken in Kennybunk I 'm fond of.

There is a heaven Vinny!!! -
I don't know if it sold or not but, Unclehenrys.com is the Maine bible,it sells in NH Maine Ma. Vt., people sell anything and everything on there. You can sell on line or through the weekly catalog or both, it's real cheap, like a couple bucks, free if you have the back page of the catalog to send in. On line you can add picture. Any of you gun, motorcyle, car, truck, guitar, what ever collectors, it's a good place to keep a close eye on. Alot of people are at the store when it opens on Wed to get it first and start calling. Sorry for the late reply, just found the thread.

My first truck ride was in a Mack B around 1958, I was 4, my dad and mom were good friend with our neighbors, George and Shirley Harris, he drove dump truck for Beard Construction, he used to say, why you bouncing all over the place, and laugh. He had a great Mack watch fob collection. We lived along the river in Seymour? Anyway Welcome to the site Don.

Never heard that part, figures. I got guns everywhere but I think the gun thing has got out of hand. I was brought up that guns were for hunting and fists for fighting. Even years ago when there were bar fights in the parking lot, the loser got up, got in his truck and went home, along with his gun rack of guns. No one ever thought of using one till hunting season. You could walk down Main St. with a scope rifle going to a gun shop and no one thought a thing of it. You could take one to school and redo the wood stock. Just walked out to the shed to put baseball stuff away, looks like rain, jumped 3 buck and had a foot stomping, snorting contest with them, then looked down the road and there was 3 doe watching me, I talked one into walking up to me pretty close. Looks like it was a great winter for the deer. I don't know what has happened to people and guns, all they think about is how much damage it will do to a human. There is going to be more and more loose cannons going off as the years go on. The mind set of people has changed, lack of good fathers with good hunting experiance? Gun companys after big proffit margin making and promoting Glocks, military looking stuff or what ever? Fenced in hunting farms, for the sake of killing,Too bad the direction it's going. I think guns were more of an excuse for the guys to get together at camp to get away from the wifes and tell storys, play cards, drink and smoke all they wanted, relax unwind. Maybe shoot a deer if one wandered by.

That was two red necks wanting a piece since her husband died of cancer a few weeks before. Not so sensasional a story (doesn't contain elegals). But real, she was protecting her baby, she was on the phone to 911, put the baby in the back room, grabbed a shotgun and a pistol, 1 of them came through the door after they both tried both doors for some time, she asked 911 if it was ok to shoot, the lady said i can't tell you what to do, but protect your baby and BOOM she let the first guy have it when he walked in, the other turned and ran. He did turn himself in.
