  1. That chain is to tie her down when it's done for the day, you dun herd how dang powerful she is didncha?
  2. That 50 ton is in good shape and a great price right now at 26k, Be a great deal if you knew what you hauled every day. too short for me and only 50t I need 55 and a 4th add on flip or even a stinger later. I had a Liebbherr loader 566 on a 55t and was axled out. Two of us went to port in MD and picked them up and brought them to a mill in Maine. They both were brand new. I loaded mine cuz the union gang of 7 was scared to load it backwards so they watched. My friends wouldn't start, so he lost about two hours, I stayed and helped get his on and took off, we got to a weigh station in PA, he was in front and got the red, they gave me the green and then saw I had the same load and changed it to red, too late I was gone. He got nailed for being way over. His permits were too light, trying to save money. We met at a truck stop and I went on the scales, I was over on the 3 rear, had permited18k each on them, I moved forward about a foot and a half and got some to the front then slid the fifth and got some on the steer. Came with in 300 or so lbs. Figured I could talk my way out of that. So deck length comes in handy.
  3. Enjoyed that, pretty cool, I was just on another thread and I saw your dog, pretty much in the same position as you and your socks, at the bottom of the picture of the dog was this "I'm off like a herd of turtles" I'm thinking I'm should be changed to we're? Got a good laugh from the picture.
  4. You can spot a coke head a mile away, just look at the eyes!!!
  5. Walk in to a 7- 11 or Big Apple or up Here Irving, look around the 2000 square feet and point out one thing healthy, ok not counting the black and brown bananas by the door. It's amazing how much junk is offered to us daily. I don't think they had all those choices.
  6. I thought there was going to be pictures of you in a speedo that didn't fit, I had to see this!!!
  7. Your the one that got me started today!!! I clicked on the link you left and followed that whole story, what a beautiful truck and labor of love by some very talented craftsmen. I was 1 1/2 hours late going grocery shopping. Worth every second.
  8. The Mack E7 is no Cummins big cam or 3406, never will be no matter what you do, "no replacement for displacement". If you really feel the transmission isn't making it, most dump trucks out there are specked with an eaton fuller 8LL. they come in direct or od models. Most use direct. Never can go wrong with an 18 speed fuller, it's just an 8LL with a few more choices, there is always a right gear, except the one that gives you more torque then the engine produces, thats were he is getting you, when its needing to pull hard.
  9. There is a real nice KW on ebay with a V8 Detroit, video of it going down the road too. Cheap right now. So many beautiful old trucks and cars out there right now at bargain basement prices.
  10. I've been keeping an eye on Iron planet, Lowboy are pretty expensive and they hold their price, one reason is the 12% fet you have to pay on top of your sales tax when new. I bought a 2010 55 ton Talbert from a reluctant friend, then I went for my physical and failed, he gladly bought it back, now that I went to a real doctor, everything is fine except I don't have a trailer, hoping to buy it back again but still looking. I'll give the guy a call and see what he's got. Thanks,Mark
  11. I read that yesterday, one thing that got my attention was the aluminum cabover with the v8 500 hp. I read the whole pdf, lots of interesting stuff.

  13. A man would have to be mighty drunk to see the beauty in that,by then he couldn't do anything with it, maybe thats why Bills nose looks like the road map of Road Island. Wally World, not for me, always local owned. Found a really nice old hardware store in Bangor the other day, allready got a list, going back.
  14. I would like to make a trip to Fla for that v8 Superliner on Ebay, thats about to run out.

  16. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/10731-mp8-engines/ This is an article about Pinicle, I'm sure it's probably the same column.........Most all '09 models have all the updates/recall already done (or upgraded in production)before they get out the factory. The only recalls I have seen for a few '09s was the "tilt steering recall" and a couple of different downloads for PTO switch and injector pressures. The regular problems we do see on the 08-09's are driver side fan belt tensioners going bad (not falling off but off tracking), clutch brakes breaking internally, AC/heater blower motors going out(bad design, cowl drains plug up and water pours in on the motor) and a few winshield washer motors and pumps going out. Most newer '09 have the self cleaning (purge valve) 7th injector for the DPF and this really cuts out the manual cleaning of soot off the 7th injector. Most '09s around here are doing very well, good MPG and no low power complaints.
  17. Beautifull trailer, nice color, wouldn't go so good with my red truck, does go good with a green Superliner though, why no use? Rogers is probably the best. I'm looking for a 55t at least 25' deck rather 26'. Thanks, Mark
  18. Thanks for the pdf, great reading, read it all. Question: what would be the letter model of the cab over that came out in 74 with aluminum cab and 500hp? Mack pushes horsepower and comfort to new heights with the 1974 introduction of the Cruise-Liner. Created for the Western market, the cabover features a popular riveted aluminum cab, larger radiator and engines rated up to 500 horsepower to master long runs through mountainous terrain. I looked for one in truckpaper but nothing came up.
  19. Gas, as in "gear acquistion syndrome"? I'm kinda likin the K Wopper!!! Can I say that here? I think I just did, oops!!
  20. Brian, 50 ton 48' 24' well, spring ride, beaver tail for ramps, covered fixed triaxle, hydraulic detatch, new deck, too small for me but if anyone is interested, asking 40k I'm sure they would take less.
  21. Looked like a 30' deck. I hauled a Talbert, 30' deck quad Canadian spread but I had tandem on the truck, was 81+ Maine is 79'11" then it's an escort. The trailer was 9'6" wide too, made loading nice on alot of machines. I got stopped in upstate NY empty. DOT followed me for miles, finally over the cb, you the Pete with the flames, yep, why don't you pull over in the parking lot on the left, can I fit? Yep.. He gets out, "you need a permit for that thing, yep, and handed it to him, it was for the width, your all set, and he escorted me to the pickup sight. I was over length and he never checked. 80 90' is a bear in places in the northeast. Even some interstate ramps I can't use, they aren't big enough. Nice when he escorted me through that small town, he stopped traffic and I got the whole road right through down town.
