  1. I don't think mufflers would last two minutes on that thing. The breathers probably suck in birds off the powerlines. Nothing wrong with Western Star, all the loggers are going to them and other heavy work like dumps. Kinda like the old Macks. Great video, thats why I like cable or satelite, got dial up now, UGG!!!! Way more then 700hp, those bikes must have feaked when he started to catch them.
  2. Thats a good story, thanks for the laugh!!! Alot of good lines in your business, more so then any other.
  3. END711 211 hp 602 lbs torque about the same specs as a early DT466 in the Internationals. Looks like the 711 is using cubic inch for power rather then a turbo like the DT. What year and model is it in? I would drain the fuel, change the fuel filter, drain and change the oil. Crank it over with the fuel shut off to pump oil through the engine. Look for mouse nests in any intake, exhaust.
  4. What a beautiful truck. Partial to white, those stripes are a knock out. Glad you got it figured out, enjoy. We have a pumper up here that has (we take alot of #@*$ from our customers) another waste management company says (satisfaction guaranteed or twice your trash back)
  5. Pretty sure the first R was 66. The rest I have guesses but am going to look for facts.
  6. I have a 20 speed two stick. I find that every gear has a mind of it's own and only wants to be shifted at it's own certian point. For instance, taking off with no load in high 1 which would be 4th going to hi-2 you double clutch and wait a bit then shift about the same for hi-3, then you double clutch and wait a little longer for hi-4, for hi-5 you double clutch, tap the throttle and shift quick. Down shifting 5 to 4 you just tap the throttle and shift, 4 to 3 let it lug to 900 rev it to the max and shift, 3 to 2 rev a little at 1200 and shift rev a little more from 2 to 1 and thats only 5 gears. If you find it grinding, don't force it, let out the clutch, hold the shifter with just a little pressure on the gear you want and slowly rev the throttle, watch the tac, it will drop right in at the right rpm, if it doesn't your not on the right gear. You always will miss a gear when another truck is next to you, or pulling into a pit or truck stop. Shift in the dark on back roads for a while!!!
  7. I would like to do the same with my 1969R. I like the stack and would like to keep it looking stock from the outside but use a replaceable filter inside. Anyone done it?
  8. How good were Mack engines back in the day? Back in the day? Seems it's going to be a few yrs before the 673 675 will be something you just remember, too many to count still working every day.
  9. Got a 37 yr old ENDT675 with a TRQ 7220 18spd and a Rad 529 5.78 ratio rear, what do you want me to pull? Delivered a backhoe the other night, large JD, that with the trailer around 24,000 never felt it, ran 65@2000
  10. I'm 6'2" 200lbs and maybe I shouldn't say this, but, I have been up the bumper and across the fenders of my R to get to the windshield. Didn't jump up and down, and yes I would bet anything it won't dent if I did. Fiberglass just doesn't do that. Can't say I wouldn't be standing on iron after such an act though. One thing I did do over the past couple years that amazed me was cut through the 12" I beam on my tandem duel tag trailer right to the vertical just like it was cut with shears. How did I do it? You may ask. With the single Mack frame, jack knifing it on back roads to turn around. The Mack frame doesn't have the slightest scratch. This blew me away when I saw such a clean cut, just like a shear and the truck frame is as new. Added note, the Mack steel is 38 yrs old, the tag trailer is 2 years old this winter and about the same thickness.
  11. Sweet, looks pretty much factory. I see alot of parts I would love to have, where do you live??? Just kiddin' I am trying to find the correct hood, bumper, bulldog and base for mine. It's a 69 R600 I believe the hood on your new one is the style I need, it has the molded in mudflaps on the back of the fenders. Hope you list some pictures. If so do a close up of the dog and base. Thanks and good luck
  12. From the album: 1969 R611T and stuff

  13. What are you looking for in an R, year, model, tandem ,single axle, engine size transmission? I can keep an eye out for ya. Know of a few localy, one is a v8 diesel. Motor is all new and runs great, it is just sitting there, hate to see it rot away.
  14. Would the 3 3/4x2 letters be correct for 69 because I have seen even smaller? Also the hood with the ridge following around the top of the wheel well around the back of the fender is wrong?Right? What is the difference between the early r hoods and the late r hoods? They look the same to mee except this odd one I have that is a middle years hood. Thanks again
  15. I have and use daily a 1969 R611T with a dump body, mostly for hauling the excavator. It has a mid 70's hood with the ridge from the top of the wheel opening running around the back of the fender. I have found what I believe to be the correct hood with no ridge and am looking for the chrome parts. My old hood has M A C K letters that are 5 1/2 wide by 3 1/8 high I believe a 69 should have letters smaller. I have found some 3 3/4 wide by 2 high. Are these correct for the year? Thanks
